I haven't started my Christmas decorating yet, but will real soon now that Thanksgiving is over so I thought I would just share some pictures from last years decorating. There are probably some new readers that weren't around last year. I needed to go back and look at some pictures from last year to get inspired for this year. Here are a few pics of my mantel 2010. The mantel has been painted since last year.
I am not even sure how I will decorate the mantel or anything else this year. I just kind of do it when I get started.
Are you one who plans ahead or do you just do it as you go?
I was shocked when bhg.com contacted me last winter and wanted to add my mantel to their holiday mantels gallery on their website during this holiday season. They had found it through Layla's Christmas mantel party last year. You just never know who is looking!
Have a super weekend!

It was wonderful to see this happy mantle again!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI'm starting today, Kim. I have no idea where anything will be going, except of the tree. I just figured that placing out the other day. I'll probably get all my bins out and opened up and see what catches my eye for different spots. Plus, I'll have to make sure I keep certain things off low spots, since my granddaughter is moving around this year.
ReplyDeleteSanta in the mirror makes me smile. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteI mostly do it as I go along with what I have, but this year I changed, kind of planning, specially the mantel and the tree is the same but in another place of the house it's never been before, as there was changes home this year.
ReplyDeleteI love your last year's mantel!
FABBY
Loved your mantel from last year Kim..that Santa on the mirror is awesome. Yes, we are stuffed to the gills, I could not sleep last night because I was so full.
ReplyDeleteKim, your mantel looked great! Some things, I have a plan for; but, basically, I do it all, as I go along! I'm done with everything, except the family tree. It will be finished today! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI hate black friday shopping, way too crowded.
ReplyDeleteI just decorate as I go.. and this year, a less cluttered more simple style is appealing to me.
Kim so beautiful. I decide as I go along what I will put where. I would love to do a little tree and insert the antique music sheets from you in the branches!
ReplyDeleteA belated Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Love and Hugs

Your mantel looked great last year Kim, can't wait to see what you come up with this year!! I'm exhausted from yesterday but I started pulling all my boxes out to get started.
ReplyDeleteI'll start on the weekend - some boughs, a wreathe on the door - and each day I'll add something new. I make it up as I go along!
ReplyDeleteHappy black friday Kim, my computer is in the shop, went dead on me and the hubs runs real slow so I am taking a break but had to come by and see what you were up to...LOVE that mantel, can't wait to see what you come up with this year...I'm off shopping today for the grands today!
ReplyDeleteI don't shop on black friday ever! I love to get started on the decorating for Christmas! Glad to see your mantel...
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing all your Christmas decor, this year! I was jealous of my friends South of the border, with all their yummy turkey, so I took out turkey leftovers in the freezer to make Turkey a la King tonight =)
ReplyDeleteAwww....I see little Rusty's stocking hanging up and he's no longer with you this year. That's sad. He's in kitty heaven now. I will start pulling Christmas boxes out of the basement tomorrow when Jimmy is home to help me. He's going to clean out the garage so I can pull stuff out and go through it. I usually have some sort of idea about how I want to decorate each year. I plan on going with a white woodland theme this year. Using white, silver, brown and maybe green too. I bought some burlap ribbon, so I want to incorporate some rustic qualities too. I will use a lot of natural decor (pinecones, greenery, snow, feathers etc).
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to see your 2010 mantel again! It was so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking this for inspiration to us all at Potpourri Friday!
I never, never get out in that mess called Black Friday! Our mantel has been done for a few days and the outdoor decorations are up. Then I had to stop decorating and start cooking for Thanksgiving. Your mantel from last year was fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely...I never really plan mine either, just kinda open the boxes of stuff and start playing until I am happy...can take weeks lol.
ReplyDeleteI have only done Black Friday twice...Once for a TV for big Daughter that we had planned to buy at the full price so could not resist the $300 savings offer BF on it and 2 yrs ago for our Kitchen Appliances while building the house....I am a firm believer Savings are only Savings if it is something you intend to buy anyway.
Always enjoy your lovely home and decor.
Blessings Kelsie
I kinda wing it as I go too Kim! I can not wait to start since this is the first year with the new surround and flooring.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a plan either..I just let inspiration take over. No black friday for me either...I am still full from Thanksgiving and can't move.
ReplyDeleteI remember your mantel from last year Kim! Gorgeous~ can't wait to see it this year too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! I always have such a hard time decorating my mantel, yours looks wonderful. I am indeed a new reader as you mentioned and your mantel has inspired me to try "One More Time"!!! Thank You and good luck with decorating for the upcoming holiday 2011!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I need some ideas. I tried to find my last years mantel, but it is lost somewhere I guess. Love the Santa on the mirror. I have never put a mirror on my mantel, but will try it this year. Blessing to you.

Kim, it will be fun to see what you create this year. You amaze me with all your talent!
ReplyDeleteI was just doing a quick post on my mantel last year and how it has changed this year ... it's fun to switch things up a bit, and I'm sure your 2011 mantel will be fabulous! I loved it last year and wasn't surprised one bit that BHG featured it! Now, get busy. :)
ReplyDeleteThe mantle looks great! Laura
ReplyDeleteI just love it. Love the whimsy and color. I don't believe I saw it last year. Thanks for sharing. Let the games begin. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty mantel. I have a similar Santa face and am going to copy you and put it on my mirror. How did you make it stick onto the mirror?
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, the thought of decorating overwhelms me a bit, because I know it will take a full day that I don't have to spare. I need to get into the spirit!
ReplyDeleteLove the mantel...I am getting antsy in doing some decorating but don't think I will do much since I am in the transition of moving to my new home hopefully soon....Just waiting with anticipation....However I will do a little bit since my son if flying down to see us in SC over the holidays so I will probably do just a little of decorating in my temporary home.
ReplyDeleteI remember your mantle from last year...can't wait to see how you are inspired this year....I am like you...I just start putting things up and hope it doesn't take too long and I don't get too frustrated!
ReplyDeleteThought I would come back and look. I love your vintage looking pieces, the Santa, sleigh etc.!!!
