Last year the walls were still Stuart Gold by Benjamin Moore and the hutch was not painted. Also the chandelier has been changed. There is a gallery wall now in place of the one picture.
This is how it looked before I painted the walls gold. It was a dark blue from the time we built the house until less than two years ago when I painted it the gold.
This is what the dining room looks like now. Lighter and brighter. The stuff on the table are things I have been gathering for Thanksgiving.
The pumpkins that I had filled the dough bowl with have rotted and been tossed out.
I found some new plates at Home Goods and the plaid napkins are also from Home Goods and the gold acorn ones are from Williams Sonoma outlet. I need to go get more. Still deciding what to do for a centerpiece in here.
The bench will be moved and two chairs brought back in. Chairs are more comfortable for guests. The bench is just for looks since this room is not really used except for holidays.
This is the buffet I painted several months ago. The top actually opens up to serve from.
Still loving my new gallery wall in here made with prints found on ebay and cheap frames from Hobby Lobby.
The hutch went from factory finish cherry to this worn gray finish with blue inside the hutch. You can read about the hutch transformation here.
Looking in from the kitchen.
Toile drapes bought premade years ago at a local store.
Antique English armoire that will not be painted.
My favorite change of all is the new chandy.
Is your dining room ready for Thanksgiving and are you expecting guests?
I am joining the following parties:
Cottage and Vine for the room by room series (dining rooms)
Kim, every little detail is just gorgeous. I love the paint color now. You are right, it's so light and bright. And the chandy...be still my heart! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun to see the transformations your dining room has gone through. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKim, it has been transformed in your savvy style. We are going to be in Athens. No work for me. ♥O
ReplyDeleteWe are expecting guests Kim, and I haven't even begun to think about my table setting! I better get a move on!
ReplyDeletePS- My favorite transformation in your dining room is your hutch:)
ReplyDeleteI just love your bench in your dining room? Where did you purchase them? I am in the midst of moving in a couple of months and looking for a bench/chairs for my antique farm table that I just bought for my dining room. Your room looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteKim, everything in this room is just gorgeous. Love all the wonderful changes you've made! the hutch and chandy are my faves!
ReplyDeleteYou have made some wonderful changes in your dining room over the last couple of years!
ReplyDeleteWe will only be 3 here for T-day this year....
Just beautiful! Your guests are lucky, and I know you'll have fun.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous -as always! I've been searching the blogs today for inspiration for the dinner I'll be hosting also. Planning on using a little burlap, and rust/gold leopard on the table - I hit up JoAnn Fabrics this morning. lol! Also, I thought of you over the weekend. Apparently demijohns are not a Midwest type of thing, because I have been searching everywhere with no luck. Found two (the only ones I've ever seen) on Saturday at Goodwill. Able to buy the pair for less than $5.00! They look wonderful! Thanks for getting me hooked! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room has truly been transformed! It's so light and bright, and a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. We are hosting this year. Today I've been painting a container to use as a centerpiece. By the way, the dog in your painting looks a lot like our dog. She's a collie mix.
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun to see how your dining room has changed in the last couple of years!!!! Love the new lighter palette....can't wait to see what you come up with for a centerpiece :o)
ReplyDelete~Des
The bench is from Ballard's. It was purchased a couple of years ago, but they still sell them. You pick the finish on the legs and the fabric.
ReplyDeleteThe gold colors look very elegant, and warm. I love the finishing touch of the gold ceiling ... what a nice surprise!
ReplyDeleteLove that chandy you choose.. it makes an already beautiful room, exquisite.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteYour dining room looks ready to receive your family this Thanksgiving...
Love the gallery wall of flowers, so pretty! Beautiful toile drapes as well.
I just picked up some of that fabric at a antique market. I have just enough to make a couple of pillows. I will have pictures to share with you soon!
All the Best,
Christine
Loving all your changes, Kim. It will be fun to see the whole table dressed out for the Holiday. Love the chandy and if I saw it before I don't remember it!;> I still love those drapes! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWow Kim! I couldn't possibly love the transformation of the room more, especially the hutch. This is it's best look yet :) Also adore the server, but of course, those toile drapes remain my favorite. I will never tire of toile and your multi colored drapes are to die for. I hope your Thanksgiving is just fantastic. Carol (formerly Sofas&Sage)
ReplyDeleteOh, that chandelier is my favorite, too, Kim!! Though I love all the rest, too! It is going to be a wonderful Thanksgiving at your home! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteEvery time you change your room I like it!
ReplyDeleteAll looks awesome Kim. I'm not ready at all with my tables! I better get on that!
ReplyDeleteWhat changes your dining room has gone through, Kim! It's fun to go back and look at how our tastes change over the years. My daughter is hosting Thanksgiving for the first time this year. Of course, lots will look familiar since she now has my dining room set!
ReplyDeletei agree the Chandy is perfect, it has great texture and I like how delicate it looks. Your curtains are timeless and will go with everything, great choice. I am doing the same as you, deciding on my table decor for Thanksgiving. So far your is coming together nicely.
ReplyDeleteKim your dining room is lovely and all of your furniture and accessories are so pretty. I am going to leave both of the post, I think the beautiful vignette of your white dishes in the china cabinet is a lovely display and very inspiring to see. Thanks again for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be beautiful Kim.
ReplyDeleteI am doing something a tad different this year for Thanksgiving, which is arriving a few days early at our house. I have an idea, now just to execute!:-)
Love the new look in your laundry, also!
HI Kim, your dining room is beautiful. It is so hard to believe it is the same room, but fun to see all the changes! Love the idea of the bench. I keep the one chair that would block our view in a corner til it is needed too. LOVE your chandy! Gorgeous! XO, pinky
ReplyDeleteKim, what a gorgeous dining room!! It is so interesting to see all of the transformations that have taken place! You have been quite the busy bee!! Love all of the white dishes in the hutch! Everything is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteA lucky family will gather in this beautiful room.
ReplyDeleteHere's a room that has certainly evolved. Thanksgiving is going to be fabulous at your house. Maybe seeing you have less this year, we will come too...LOL...JUST KIDDING!
ReplyDeleteKim, what a gorgeous space. The evolution of the room is amazing. I love the color tones. Your wall arrangement of pictures is really pretty and I *love* your chandelier. You have a great collection of furniture. =)
ReplyDeleteKim. You really pay attention to detail! Just gorgeous. You family will have a beautiful place to celebrate your family Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYvonne
I have always loved your dining room, but this version is my favorite! I love the wall colour, the chandy, well, all of it! I think my favorite is your aubusson coloured side board.wow.!
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmie! I love your pretty dining room!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Where did you get you chandy? I am in love with it.
ReplyDeleteIt will be gorgeous, Kim! I love everything you've done to your dining room. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe've always traveled for Thanksgiving, but this year we'll be staying in town and going to the in-laws for dinner. I have a hard time picturing a Thanksgiving table in my aqua dining room! If I ever end up hosting, I'll have my work cut out for me just trying to figure out the color scheme, let alone roasting the turkey!
I love seeing not one, but two prior lives, and I love the current one best. I can't imaging having the nerve to paint that china cabinet, but it looks great! Of course, you know what you're doing. It's a beautiful room, and you've maximized its potential. Very fresh, updated, and warm! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is so pretty - a lovely setting for a special holiday dinner!
ReplyDeleteI really love the latest version of you dining room...it's going to be amazing all dressed for Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteJermaine
Kim, it just keeps getting better and better...I love the gold walls but the current room decor is much lighter and I love the new transformation of the hutch too.

This was great looking at the changes. I like the hutch makeover the best and then the chandy and it all looks great in the lighter scheme. I just love that hutch! I got my first doughbowl~it came all the way from Belgium! I was happy to peek at yours here this morning~
ReplyDeleteI can't even think about Thanksgving until next Monday (week of!!!) Right now the dining room is being transformed into our holiday boutique for this weekend. I have an amoire almost identical to yours. It's in the entry and makes an excellent coat closet, since I don't have one there. I really like your lighter, brighter dining room.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Susan
Love the changes you've made! It was fun seeing the metamorphosis of this room. I like how light and bright it is. Love the antique English armoire - glad it'll remain stained. Love the chandy, too! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour dining room has changed quite a bit...it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy dining room is not yet ready for Thanksgiving. I'm kind of hoping I can blink my eyes & it will look as pretty as yours! :D
It looks LOVELY. So many details I love!!!
ReplyDelete:-)

Fun seeing your dining room evolve. Oh my! Mine looks like your 2nd pic. Hope I didn't date it with the blue. I sure like the light bright look you have now.
ReplyDeleteSo many pretties to look at in that room, of course the new chandy is fabulous and your window treatments, but that armoire...whew spectacular piece...i forgot the history on that?
ReplyDeleteWow Kim, as usual every detail is taken care of in this dining room. I just love the transformations over the years. I just looked at a dough bowl this past weekend, but did not buy it, now I regret that move.
ReplyDeleteI have about 12 people coming for Thanksgiving and a lot to do yet to get ready.
It's amazing to see how this room has changed since it started. I love it now! Can't wait to see it this Thanksgiving all decked out.
ReplyDeleteWhat huge changes you have made in the life of your dining room. Every detail of it is so beautiful! The darker ceiling really appeals to me and you have done a remarkable job on the furniture pieces! The new dishes and linens look interesting!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, you've made such a transformation in your dining room, it's just lovely! Can't wait to see your table when you are finished giving the golden touch! You've got it, that's for sure! I'm not ready, but am working on getting things out!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
Me, along with 50 of my closest friends [the other comments!] think this is a beautiful and elegant dining room!!! Kim...I am in love with the chandelier also. The cream walls and the yellow ceiling! You rocked it!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of looking at that room and love seeing the changes over time. We host Thanksgiving every year at our house and you just reminded me I better get moving with my planning...too much time playing on the computer!
-Shelley
Kim, our dining room is ready. Kept things really simple this year. House guests arrive a week from today, so I need to decide on a tablescape.
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of your dining room. You have been one busy lady.
I am inspired NOW with a centerpiece for my T'giving table! Don't have a dough bowl, but a large wooden bowl, so like yours filled with straw and pumpkins! I was struggling to think of something! I love the transformation of the dining room and had to go back and look at the painting of the hutch...lovely and perfect! I'll be back later for the party! Christie
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is BEAUTIFUL, and that chandelier is STUNNING! Can I spend Thanksgiving with you???
ReplyDelete:)
Your dining room has had some amazing transformations!! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, it looks so lovely. I really, really love that hutch and I still am hoping for a few tips on what you did to create that finish. Everything is inviting and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that I love the collie painting. We have a beautiful collie. Just wondering if you had a collie at one time, or if you just liked the painting.
ReplyDeleteEvery little detail is so awesome. I know your Thanksgiving will be wonderful and beautiful! Enjoy. Mine will be last minute -I work retail! UGH.
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking good Kim. I still love those curtains, and LOVE the new chandy.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great, Kim
ReplyDeleteMy dining room is ready for my family and friends. We expect about 21 people and I am excited...:)
I saw the first picture and thought you had done yet another makeover on the dining room. I love your dining room. The hutch is beautiful and the chandelier is perfect!
ReplyDeleteKim, I somehow missed your dining room makeover - you are one fast worker. I love it - the softer colours are gorgeous and it looks so pretty. I bet it will look fantastic at Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI just love the difference the paint made. Opened up the room and made it look so much bigger and brighter. You have an extremely lovely dining room. sandie
ReplyDeleteKim, I love how you lightened up the look of the dining room! And really think the bench is a smart choice. Many times dining rooms can look overdone. You've managed to avoid this and create a really inviting space. Really enjoyed looking at this post. How about a big white rooster or turkey to build around for the centerpiece?
ReplyDeleteI really like the way it looks now. Isn't it funny how dark that blue looks...you probably loved it when you did it!
ReplyDeleteWe are going to my sister's for Thanksgiving, so I just have to cook a few things...no tablescape!
I love the metamorphosis Kim, it's perfect now ( at least for the time being...right?) :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE all of the changes you have done over the years. The current version is beautiful. So many details are just spot on lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - I'm obsessed with that chandelier! And I love seeing the paint transformations... the gold was the better than the blue, and the current is the best of all... Also love the bench - very smart and more charming than the backs of 2 chairs...
ReplyDeleteYou are so darn creative! Oh, and I love your adorable little white cows... I found some at a coffee shop and thought they were so cute... I bought just about everything they had! 2 large, 2 medium, 2 small, and then a couple other farm animals... I think they are adorable!
XO
Jan
I love the whole room...that chandy is gorgeous!
ReplyDelete♥Linsey
Kim, I love your dining room. Can you tell me where you got the dining table and chairs from?
ReplyDeleteI got the set at a local place several years ago, but it is by Hooker so they may still carry it. I recovered the chair seats. They come in your basic ivory.
