The original bar stools I had in the kitchen were so heavy and hard to move that I wanted something different and easy to handle.
Here is a reminder of what the old ones looked like. Some of you will probably prefer the old ones. This is what they looked like after I recovered the seats with red ticking and painted and distressed the backs.
I read that these are just like ones found in French cafes, but at a much better price. I wouldn't know since I have never been in a French cafe. These are from overstock. Where else?
I have four of these since they come two in a box. These will be easy for the grands to climb up on when they get a little older. The extra one is in the laundry room ready to pull out when needed.
When I need to move these out of the way I can just stack them and put them away.
The kitchen actually feels larger and more open without the chair backs that were on the other stools.
I am trying to get used to the bold red. I couldn't decide between the black and red and chose red. These are metal so they can be painted if needed later.
If you are interested in these they come in black, red and silver and come in counter and bar height. The red ones were only $80 for two which I think is a grand deal. I also got them at an extra discount and saved even more.
Now the other stools will go to the consignment store.
On another note, Mr. Savvy hurt his lower back some how yesterday and is now knocked out on the sofa in the great room. I am taking care of him and I have Leila today, too. So I will be tending to two babies if you get my drift!

sorry your hubby is not feeling so good..yikes!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the new stools...your right they do make the room feel more open.
I have been seeing a few homes with their copper hanging...I am inspired to get mine out !
Love the stools and TOTALLY get your drift!
ReplyDeleteI love them and I think that color looks great against the black cabinets!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love those. That is a totally different look and the colour just pops!
ReplyDeleteThe new stools give the room a totally new look. Love the red against the black. I get your drift. Good luck tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWell, I like them, Kim. We got some from an Amish store here and they are backless with a cupped seat with hand holds on either end. I can shove them under the overhang and they just kind of disappear. They are wood and I have been trying to get up the nerve to paint them...you know MyHero and painting wood.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear MrSavvy is down and out. You will sure have two babies at home tomorrow. One little one and one BIG one. Too bad you can't give the BIG one a bottle...oh..wait...maybe you can...a bottle of Vodka. He'll be so happy he'll forget all about his back...of course his head might hurt later! xo Diana
They look great! They really pull through the red that is on the chairs in the fireplace room behind...I like that! They do look much easier to move around too.

Too funny!! I ordered the silver ones from overstock for my bar area. They are very very sturdy and a good price. After the rug the other day and now the stools, it looks we look for the same things there :)
ReplyDeleteKristen
Kim I have been looking for stools too. I LOVE them! I think the red is great, and like you said if you ever tire of them you can always paint them. I am going to check it out. Although, I think Mike would say WHAT more bar stools, I have two sets already LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have the silver ones from Overstock - they are so sturdy, yet easy to move and I love them.
ReplyDeleteYour red ones are gorg too - nice change!
xo

Kim I'm getting caught up here. I am so intrigued by your new barstools!!! I love them and think they look great in your space!!
ReplyDeleteI love the new stools! I think they look fabulous!! Hope hubby feels better soon. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pop of red these bring to the kitchen. Those are a great deal. I wish I had a spot from some silver ones. Good luck taking care of the babies.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that he is not feeling well. Jimmy has a bad cold and just got over something prior to that, so I know how it is dealing with a sick hubby and kids at the same time. Your stools look really good! I like the more casual look of these compared to your others. I know you're going to like their versatility too. They are kid friendly so all spills etc won't be a problem. The punch of red goes well against the black island too.
ReplyDeleteJordan, my daughter/blog partner just ordered those very same stools in the zinc finish for their bar. She bought hers from Overstock, too. You can't beat their shipping fees.
ReplyDeleteI think your choice was perfect. The red really pops off the black island. I've never been in a French cafe either. :o) Sounds like something to put on my bucket list. I know how Mr. Savvy feels...I occasionally put my back out. It's not a good thing. Good luck with your babies tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteOh, those look awesome!!
Love the red against the black...
I think it is great that they stack as well...Flexible little stools!!
All the Best,
Christine
I love them Kim. I have been looking for some good vintage inspired stools as well- these might be perfect. Thanks for sharing them- hope your hubby is better soon.
ReplyDeleteI like both looks, but do like the bright pop of color the new ones give. That's probably because I would be too chicken to add a pop of color! I never thought of painting and distressing my own metal bar stools. I guess I'll be looking at them sideways later. And your pot rack looks so nice and full but stylish not cluttered. Just cleaned mine out (another thing that never looked right). Lastly - if Mr. SSS starts acting like a naughtyheimer, don't fall for it if he asks for a spanking! A sure sign he's feeling better.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Kim, they are just awesome! I do love the brilliant color and they do look perfect against the black! Clever lady, they will be great for the grands!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, meant to say, I'm sorry about your dear hubby not feeling well! Poor guy! I hate it when mine feels awful.
ReplyDeleteLoved the original ones, but these will really be easy to move. That's why I have such small wood ones at my bar. Great find. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteThey look great and I am loving that paisley fabric on your chair in the background!

Thanks for sharing! xo ~Liz

ReplyDeleteI love your new stools. I have the shorted under counter stools and love the size.
ReplyDeleteHope Mr Savvy's back is feeling better.
Kim I love the pop of red in your kitchen..these look very much like the ones I think I seen at your sister house..Hope you have the best Monday ever my dear friend..Hugs and smiles Gloria
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Mr Savvy is not doing well!! The new stools are so ugh fun! If i Lived near by I would buy your old ones!;) If my mother in law needed some I would send her your way.
ReplyDeleteI Love the POP of color this adds to your kitchen! I do like your other stools, but I can totally understand how they can get heavy and are hard to move...mine are like that too.
ReplyDeleteI love stools that tuck under the overhang, and the red color pops in your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new stools. They are wonderful! And, yes, I catch your drift!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Love your new stools Kim and the red looks great against your black cabinets. Hope Mr.Savvy feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love those stools! The have a little bit of an industrial look and I always like that. Great selection :)
ReplyDeleteLOOOOVE these stools! Such a great punch of color too!
ReplyDeletexoxo
I love your new stool. Mine have back and that's what the rest of my family likes, but I like your so much better. I also like that they are stackable. I think the red was the right choice.
ReplyDeleteI love the pop of color
ReplyDeleteI love the red in your kitchen! I think these are fantastic! It's a totally different look! I love the red against the black!
ReplyDeleteme likes!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the color and that they are metal...really neat!
ReplyDeleteI like the no backs better. they kind of fade under the counter... and you're right, you can always paint them if you want. Mr. AntiqueChase hurt his back in November when I got my armoire... it took 3 weeks to get better.... it was hard on both of us :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the new chairs !!!! Love the color and the style!!!! Great choice!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE them! They're bold, and industrial, and surprising in your traditionally eclectic space. FUN!
ReplyDelete-Revi
So not expected but so neat! I love the red against the black. It just pops! Hope the Mr. feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun bar stools. So unexpected! Take care of you babies!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look! I think you will enjoy the smaller scale of the stools, and red was the perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Kim. Loving the red stools! Hope your hubby's on the mend soon!
ReplyDeleteI think you're going to be very happy with these for all the reasons you enumerated - and also because they look really good!
ReplyDeleteI love the stools, Kim...I love the touch of industrial style! Hope your husband is better soon!
ReplyDeleteI love your new stools!! They look perfect in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Well, I've admired your taste repeatedly and now you've gone and gotten the same stools I have at my kitchen island. Except my stools are black and the island is dark stained wood. Yours look great - love the pop of color!
ReplyDeleteSorry your hubby hurt his back, rest is what helps. I understand you'll have your hands full. Love the pop of red against the dark of the cabinets. Great choice. I loved the old ones too……..
ReplyDelete~Emily
The French Hutch
Very cute and I love the bold color. Good choice, you can't go wrong with a pop of red.
ReplyDeleteHurt hubby...no! Hope he's icing that back, who knows that might keep Leila quite amused to see him lying on the couch, that would be just the right height for her to help pampered him with sweet smooches.
Prayers for his quick recovery and for endless energy for you :)
Blessings,
Cindi
I love the new look of the counter area. The new ones have definitely given the area a great pop of color and I love the combination of traditional and contemporary pieces.
ReplyDeleteThey look great Kim.
ReplyDeleteI ordered two of these in grey for the lake, a couple of years ago. The first bar stools were much too heavy. The second ones have rush seats and I decided I like them better at the breakfast bar at home. When I found the "galvanized" stools at Overstock, I knew they would be just right...just like Goldilocks. And they are. You will really enjoy the new stools.
Oh, I do love them so! What a difference they make. Red is perfect. Get well wishes to your hubby.
ReplyDeleteRed was the right choice for your kitchen stools. Much nicer than the metal ones. I too have some similar to your old metal stools and they just feel so out of style.
ReplyDeleteWow kim, these look so fresh! I think they update the space nicely! Love the red too. My hubs has a nagging back ache and at times is just awful. He swears by True Back, a thing he bought online.
ReplyDeleteI'm in LOVE!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI love your red new kitchen stools!!!
Dee
They look perfect there, but then again so did the other ones. Either way it is a win!
ReplyDeleteI hope Mr. Savvy is better! I love your new stools, they are perfect! The color is great against your black cabinets!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I purchased these in black from Overstock for my kitchen, I love that they are light weight and aren't visually overloading!
ReplyDeleteOverstock doesn't ship these to Canada so I had to get creative on the purchasing and shipping but the extra cost was well worth it!
Jo
The new stools fit just right, I'd say. They do look good at the counter. Smiles, Susie
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Kim, I love the pop of color! And I'm very sorry to hear about your husband's back! I hope he gets better very soon.
ReplyDeleteKat :)
I really like that pop of red with the new stools! WOW! You are right....the room does feel more open!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
karianne
Great choice. I love the red. It makes a statement and adds a wow to your room!
ReplyDeletei am looking for bar stools right now for my kitchen. these are great because they tuck in....love the red
ReplyDeleteO, Kim....I am totally in love with these. The red looks awesome in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI WANT SOME, TOO....
Several yrs ago, I, too, got rid of the heavy, high backed stools, and switched to the lower ones from Lowes. I loved them but they need replacing so I am going to ck my finances and if I can, I'll order some, too. Thanks so much for always being so sweet to share where we can find some awesome things.
You are a sweetie doll.
Such FUN new stools!! They are unexpected, but perfect in your space! Love the whimsy they bring. You are so skilled at achieving good balance in your rooms!
ReplyDeleteHope the hubs is better soon. In my experience, they are not the best patients! ;-)

I love the pop of red and the stools are perfect there. It definitely looks lighter (even with the red). What a great deal. May have to check these out on Overstock!
ReplyDeleteRed was definitely the right choice! Looks terrific. Sorry about your dear hubby. My hubby and I have taken turns caring for each other when back problems get painful.
ReplyDeleteLove the new stools....vintage and modern all at the same time! I agree how it makes the room feel bigger without the backs on the stool...your eye just keeps moving. Are they sturdy?
ReplyDeleteLove the red. I just ordered similar ones from overstock but in a different color. I can't wait for them to come!
ReplyDeleteGreat punch of color and easier clean up after the grands visit.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up!
I love the old stools, very pretty indeed, but i get the reason why you had to change them. Are they for sale?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your husband...mine has had back issues and it isn't any fun.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm probably going to be the one person that liked the old ones...but, mostly because I'm just lazy and I like a back on my stool when I'm sitting at our bar. I love the red, but I laughed when you said you were trying to get used to it...my first thought was that you'll be painting them in no time anyway!
Love them, they do add a great pop of color.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about his back. My hubby has alot of back trouble. Yikes..it wears me out taking care of him.
Hope your hubby is off that sofa soon. LOL
Love Love Love your new bar stools they are great!!! The Red just pops against that black. Have a GREAT week!!!
ReplyDeleteI did like the old ones, but I know what you mean about being too big and heavy. The new ones are a totally different look, but so fabulous! I think the red is a great choice! And what a deal. I'd love it if you'd share this at my Show & Tell linkup party and giveaway going on now @ the Delectable Home.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE the red! and yes you can change with paint if you ever want to

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the pop of color the bar stools lend to the space, Kim..I was surprised to see the change in style but it works beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI love the new stools, they are so hot right now and the color is great!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the contrast of those Kim! Great choice! How Mr. Savvy gets to feeling better. Thank you for joining me for Home Sweet Home!
