BIRDS AND FLOWERS EQUAL SPRING..........
....in the bedroom. Yes, I have finally finished the master bedroom. I shared how I did the mirror and chest yesterday and now I can show you the rest of the room. I loved the new bird print duvet that came out at Pottery Barn and it was the lowest priced duvet I have ever gotten from there, even on sale. I thought it was a mistake at first when I saw the price, but it was right so I went ahead and bought it. I love how it just makes the room feel lighter and fresher just like the spring season does after a long winter. This year we had a very cold and snowy winter over most of the country. I am so glad that spring officially begins this Saturday. I cannot wait to start working in the yard again. After I bought the duvet and put it on the bed it wasn't quite looking right with the pillows I had. I ordered two white twill euro shams monogrammed with brown letters from Ballard's and added them in place of the tan gingham and still something wasn't quite right. So I went back to Pottery Barn and got the two bird pillow covers which are 24 inch and set them in front of the 26 inch white shams and bingo, that was it. You can't see the monograms, but this is the look I was going after. I added the burlap pillow, also from Pottery Barn, and the little french script pillow that I bought from Gina at the Shabby Chic Cottage blog etsy store. Went to a local flea market and bought a vintage platter with tiny little blue flowers on it and hung it over the mirror over the dresser. Changed out some other accessories and the room is done! I did take a lot of pictures.
If you can see the "A" monogram on the pillow case and sheet and wondering why I would have "A" on my sheets instead of "N" it is because I got a really good deal on these on ebay with the "A". I figured my middle name starts with "A" so why not.
I bought this little vintage magazine holder at a flea market over a year ago. I love when things just seem to come together at a later time and you had no idea it was going to work out that way.
This is the old platter from the flea market.
When we were in Italy I took pictures of doors on the front of buildings and framed some of them. This is a close up of one of the doors. They have such beautiful huge solid wood doors over there.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful Springy weekend. Get out and enjoy the fresh air if the weather permits where you are. Please drop me a note and let me know you came by.
Wow, most of the things in the room have moved to other parts of the house or have been painted! Also these were taken with my old camera.
Have a great week!
Love your wall color, Kim. I had something similar in our previous house and I really miss it. Your rooms always look like they're from a magazine, beautiful bedding!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty then too Kim. I still love that duvet and your bird accessories too.
ReplyDeleteAlways loved the look, but I am really crazy about your new look too! I am always amazed at your ambition and hard work:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! Loved seeing how the room has evolved over the last couple of years!!!! It always looks so beautiful :o)

So fun to look back and see how things were. Your room is beautiful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteKim, I still really love the bird theme. It just seems to never go out of style and always look so cheery:)
ReplyDeleteLove that bird print on your bed. It just livens things up. Beautiful room!
ReplyDeleteI love that bird fabric! The room looks great both before and after. You have a great sense of style.
ReplyDeleteLooking at where your bedroom was and where it is now, its obvious to me you were no stranger to style then... or now! I really think some people just have a natural ability with decorating style, then some of us struggle more but manage to get it right on occasion. You make it look easy.

Kim, your new look is awesome, love the brightness of the room and what a wonderful bird print duvet! Oh my, your pillows are so very chic! Do have to say, your old look was just great, you've got an incredible style going with everything you touch!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Sunday!
OMG I have the same bird pillows from Pottery Barn and I still love them. Your room looks great!
ReplyDeleteSometimes things look great even when we feel they need a change. I
ReplyDeleteLOVE your bird duvet and pillows.
Kim, it was beautiful... then and now I can remember on RMS (not sure if it was yours) But the bird cover and shams do you remember Goldie? She had made such a huge fuss about them in someones room, I just had to laugh... have a great Sunday

It's fun to look back as long as you like where you're going now instead. I love your new bedroom. I liked this one alot too. You're lucky to have extra bedrooms in the house that you can transfer your old bedding to on occasion.
ReplyDeleteBoth looks are so lovely! Bedtime and waking up in the morning must be a real treat!
ReplyDeleteKim, it has changed. I have to say, either look would be inviting. All you do is beautiful. I'm not so big on change, so things say pretty much the same around here from year to year. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that bird duvet!!! When you want to get rid of it let me know:):) It is so beautiful and the magazine rack was a GREAT find! Love the whole room. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI love the bird duvet too. I also love the vintage dresser/buffet as a large side table. Everything looks beautiful. You take great pictures.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! I am soooo in love with that bedding, even if it is from 2010. Also, I laughed when you said the pics were from your "old" camera. Then, girlfriend, send me that old camera because those pics are 20x's better than the pics of my new camera. (sigh - my 2012 resolution TAKE BETTER PICS) I just love this room, every detail. This was a fun post. Thanks for sharing! Blessings, Barb
ReplyDeletejust loving all of the birdie things!
ReplyDeleteI really think that was one of my all-time favorite looks!

I must say that you new bedroom has taken on a much softer feel. I love the new look and what would we do if we didn't change every room in the house often? Our hubby's would sure like us to try I am sure. The old look (only two years ago) was still really nice and inviting, it's just fun to change things up. Smile
ReplyDeleteHey, Kim! Isn't it amazing what kind of change two years can bring? You're an amazing blogger and I've enjoyed following you. Now following on LF as well!
ReplyDeleteAmei as almofadas e o edredom de pássaros! Muito bonito e romântico.
ReplyDeleteI just bought those bird pillow covers in October from the outlet! They were marked down to $9.99 & I have been waiting till Spring to put them on my brown velvet pillows.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to look back. I'm sure it makes you enjoy and relish the changes you've made even more.

Love it, it looks great. I will never tire of birds! Have a great evening!

I can tell from some of the comments that people think this is your new look! I start looking at pics before reading too sometimes, and this time I had to scroll back because I didn't think the wall color seemed right for the new room~I thought you were showing off the new duvet, and then I checked back...ha! It was 2 years ago~still a great looking room! But you know, it doesn't have to be less than great to warrant a change, and that I have in common with you!
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that was two years ago!! I remember it well. blessings ~ Tanna
ReplyDeleteThe whole room is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThe room came out great the burlap pillows add nice texture to the bed and the painted chest is very pretty. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI love this look.
ReplyDeleteI'm not one to change often ....however, when I was much younger, I did change things around.
Love all your photos.

Lovely as always. You have great taste and great talent. I have taste and no talent. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love that red lamp on your dresser! Do you know where I can find it?
ReplyDeleteI love the new soft look of your room now, and your monogramed linens, but I also love the bird bedding and accessories. Maybe you can put it back into rotation for Spring? Whatever you do, it always looks so inviting, and luxurious but also super cozy. That should be the goal for all of our bedrooms!
ReplyDeleteThanks for re-sharing this old post, Kim!
