I do love upholstered headboards, Kim! But I love the ones that also incorporate some wood like two of the pictures I saw of the Frenchy looking beds do. I was actually thinking of going the upholstered headboard route for the guest room bed.
Kim, I don't have any upholstered headboards but I do like them. What I saw that I loved was the bench in the first picture that had nailhead trim in a scallop. How lovely they all are.
Our headboard is upholstered in leather. I wish we had done a fabric instead because the leather has scratched up AND it looks too masculine to me. I do love them though! xo Diana
I do love them as well! I am hoping to create one for my daughter's room this spring actually so the ideas are very helpful - thanks! Stacey of Embracing Change
Oh I LOVE upholstered headboards!!! When my husband poo-pooed the idea of trading out our matchy sleighbed set (leftover from his bachelor days) for a tufted headboard I knew I had to use one in my little girl's room. I smile every time I walk in her room and see that tufted gorgeousness :) And, it's so nice to sit up against and read a book. Perfectly soft on the noggin.
I'm beginning to like them more & more. At first I wasn't too crazy about them because I thought they always looked modern, but I'm seeing them in all styles now and they're great!
I do like the look of an upholstered headboard and wanted one when we replaced our our bed with a king sized bed, but my husband would not budge on getting a wood headboard. I am thinking about doing a slip cover with batting added. Then we each can have what we want at least some of the time.
We have an upholstered head board in our master bedroom and I've been thinking of changing the fabric on it to a solid color. Not that I mind what's on there, but a solid color would be easier to decorate with. We made and upholstered it in a cream color many years ago, and then changed it to a taupe-y leafy velvety sort of print.(sounds terrible) I'm ready for a change. Thanks for the inspiration.
I really like the headboards with the "arms" (or whatever you want to call them). I want SO badly to make my own headboards! But my husband likes our slowly-falling-apart sleigh bed frame... *sigh* -Shirley treeshides.blogspot.com
Yes, I love them and we have had one for some 24 years that I made. It's a cream color silk and linen and I would change out the cording to match whatever room decor we have. I did a post about it just a week or so ago about a little mishap involving that head board. :) My husband's mother had two twin white leather studded headboards that I coveted but his sister got them...phooey...then she sold them. double phooey. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
Beautiful picures, I love that look and will be trying it on my boring headboard in the future. I love the tufted look as well. I have a few pieces I tufted on my blog. Stop by and check them out :) Thanks for sharing!
Kim, where do you get all that energy! I need to do this same thing and paint but the thought of going through the process and I think I can put up with the old color a while longer. Can't wait to see the MB finished, I think the color will be amazing. Tell Mr. Savvy he is not going anywhere! I get that here, so I get it…….. Don't work to hard Kim.
I do love them! So much warmer and cozier than a wooden bed. I have a ..... wooden bed! Bummer. It was my MIL's and she didn't enjoy having to use a step stool to get into it every night, so now we have it and I get to use the step stool!
Next house.... smaller and an upholstered headboard for sure.
Love them! Been trying to talk the hubs into trading our current bed for an upholstered headboard. I love the first one (carpet and bench too), and the bedding and chair in the last pic. Great ideas!
I so love the upholstered beds as they are so versatile style wise..they function well both in a contemporary and traditional setting..When we "downsize" ..definitely going for the upholstered bed!
Ohh my I do now! Those are so beautiful, so wish i had a huge bedroom to fill with with such beautiful pieces of furniture.

I believe I saw a very reasonably priced one coming out for spring at Pier 1.

I'm with you, Kim. We've had the same headboard for 30, yes, 30 yrs.! but, now I'm really liking this style :).
ReplyDeleteMy bed is soooo tired. These are all just beautiful. My favorite is the ticking...and the bedding in the last picture is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm not paid much attention to them in the past, although the house of turquoise bed is my favorite here, love it!
ReplyDeleteLove most of these beds.
ReplyDeletePinterest is awesome!
Upholstered beds? Oh, yes please! We have a creamy white tufted headboard and I love waking up and looking at it- it feels like I'm laying in a cloud!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And I do love them. Dreaming of one for my next place!
ReplyDeleteThe bench in the first picture really caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteThe beige twin beds (second to last picture) are sure an interesting shape. I don't believe I have seen anything like those before!
love'em, but I can't imagine trying to keep them clean, especially the light colored ones!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that I did like them but I do now! Love the turquoise one...I'm thinking of selling my furniture. Thanks for sharing.
