This is huge and has nice beefy handles on it. This can hold a lot of big quilts.
We really haven't had much of a need for any heavy quilts this winter. In fact it is in the 70's today.
It has been unseasonably mild. My petunias from the summer have not even died.
There are no flowers on the plants, but they are still green and thriving.
My verbena still has occasional blooms.
I love this old worn tag that came with this basket. Not sure if it is a name or what?
I added the number with some graphite chalk paint. Not sure why I chose the number except maybe because it is the age I will turn this year.
The basket sits on top of the armoire in the master bedroom.
I guess I should show y'all the master. There is something new that has made the change.
Check back tomorrow.
I guess many of you will be watching the super bowl tonight. Not me. I am not into football.
May the best team win!
Have a super week!

I love big baskets. Nice find Kim.
ReplyDeleteI have a very old basket similar to this that is a family piece made in Maryland that I use for quilts. At Christmas I fill it with presents and love that look.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to a quiet night by myself and I don't intend to watch one bit of football. I may check in on the game to watch the half-time show, but I'll definitely not watch any play.
Enjoy your evening.
I am 57 right now, but only for a couple more days... I prefer uneven numbers for some reason. Great basket find!
ReplyDeleteGreat basket! and yes, do show some photos of your master. I really need some inspiration. Can't change it too much though, hubby has to have his books, etc. on his bedside table/chest. The Superbowl game will probably be on, but I doubt I'll be watching. I don't even know who's playing.
ReplyDeleteI love using baskets, too, Kim! This is a nice size! I keep trying to get my master "just so" to take pictures of all at once. I feel like it is still a work in progress though, so hopefully I can work on that over the Winter months and get it to where I want it to be.
ReplyDeleteYou always find the most beautiful things. This one does not disappoint. Thanks for sharing, liz
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of the basket full of quilts on top of your amoire. It looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteCute basket Kim! I love the added number. We are off to a super bowl party now.
ReplyDeleteGreat basket! Love the added numbers!
ReplyDeleteHolly
The basket is wonderful and so are the quilts. I am a huge football fan, so I am off the watch it all. Enjoy your quiet time. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love that basket.I love that the original tag is on it too.
ReplyDeleteLove the basket. I have two that were belonged to my Mom and came from the farm. Love the # you painted on there. I loved being 57. Isn't it hard to believe that you are that old...If you are like me you don't feel anywhere near what your age says you are.
ReplyDeleteHow is Mr.Savvy's back? MyHero is off to watch the Super bowl at a friend's house so I am off the hook having to watch it here. xo Diana
Pretty basket Kim and it looks great on top of Mr Savvy's dresser. Speaking of the Mr. I hope he's feeling better!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! two questions, does chalk paint come in graphite?? and where did you get the number stencil? the hardware store?? You can never have too many baskets, especially european!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe basket is very cool up high on that cabinet.
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmie! Oh, that is a nice sized bastet and love your 57 on it!

Oh, that is an awesome basket Kim! Oh, now I can't wait to see the Master BR! Hurry, I always am inspired with your changing looks!
ReplyDeleteI love your new basket! It looks nice on top of your amoire too. The added stenciled number is the perfect touch.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! I adore your vintage quilts in it too. We have certainly had a colder winter, but not nearly as much snow as usual.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is a huge fan of football so it will be on here, like I said in my post I'll watch for the commercials they are always good!
ReplyDeleteI love your basket, now why didn't I think of stenciling, I just did chalkboard tags:)
I do like the basket a lot! I am not into football either - like you, may the best team win. I would follow under networked, but not on FB or twitter. Glad you still have GFC as I follow that way. I was going to add Linky followers to my sidebar that don't blog thru blogger, but not sure about the way is handled.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening.
Great basket! I love all vintage baskets...they can add so much to a room. I'm with you on the football issue; not for me!
ReplyDeleteIf I could sneak in and slip that basket AND its quilts out... I have to confess that I would. :) LOVE it! blessings ~ Tanna
ReplyDeleteKim, the basket is a great piece and will certainly come in handy. Like you, I'm not watching the game. No football for me. LOL
ReplyDeleteWow, that reminds me of the laundry basket I had as a young bride back in the dark ages!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket, you really know how to find the good stuff!
ReplyDeleteDebbie@refreshrestyle.com
I followed on NB but my little square isn't showing up. I'll check back later and maybe it will be there. If not, I'll try again.

It looks great Kim. Love big baskets. I also have one on top of my armoire in my master bedroom. Mine sits empty, but I have always wanted to fill it with dried hydrangeas.
ReplyDeleteI love the baskets. I'm on the lookout for some for laundry. Pretty quilts, too. As for the Super Bowl, I'm not into it, either. It's on, but I'm visiting blogs:-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome basket and lovely quilts! I am officially following you now. I have enjoyed your linky parties!
ReplyDeleteLove the old basket, Kim. The number looks good on it, too. Can't wait to see what you've done to your bedroom. I've loved it each way you've shown it. Linda

I'm crazy for your basket. I love the shape and style. Perfect for where you have it. I like that the number is off to one side. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteLove the basket. I got one a few weeks ago and had this vision of putting pillows in it in my den...but Chloe decided she loved the basket and has turned it into her bed. I am biding my time because she will change "spots" soon...cats are wierd like that!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the master bedroom...
Lou Cinda :)
Fabulous basket. I'm blogging while the fam is watching the game.

Love the basket and the number you added. I enter into my 50's next year and I must say - you make them look like a lot of fun! I think you have more energy than most women half your age! x Sharon
ReplyDeleteNice find-the word means Hertling and is a family last name in German. As a fellow basket lover I can tell you these baskets are expensive at German flea markets.
ReplyDeleteLove your basket. What an amazing find. You are such a youngster, Kim :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful basket!
Love the colours of the quilt inside!!
Have a great week!
All the Best,
Christine
Nice basket- the number adds a good extra pop to it. I'm with you on the football- eh, whatever. :)
ReplyDeleteBeing 57, the number works for me! Maybe I could stay 57, like the basket? Ya think?!
ReplyDeleteVery cool basket! Love the painted number, and that is represents your age! Fun find!

Oh you've inspired me to get out my big basket like this and USE it! Looks so great with the number...
ReplyDeleteThere's just something about laundry baskets! I love to use different sizes around the house -- for my 'in progress' knitting projects, my yarn stash, my weekly ironing, towels in the guest room. They're so handy and can make even the most mundane items seem special!
ReplyDeleteThat is one awesome basket, sister friend. I love it and I love the number on it. You did good!!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Beautiful basket, Kim! I have one almost like that filled with crocheted throws at the foot of our bed sitting a blanket chest. Doesn't it make you wonder what farm woman toted that basket out to the line to hang her laundry...? :)

ReplyDeleteCharming basket, Kim. Whatever the name or word on the tag is, it looks like it could be German.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at Potpourri Friday!
Oh what an awesome find! Thank you for joining me at Home Sweet Home!
