This is the before shot at Christmas in 2010. This was right after Mr. Savvy had hung it up. If you look closely you can see the dark metal candle sleeves.
I removed the metal ones and also removed the shades and am using them somewhere else that I will share another time. Here you can see the new candle sleeves that look more like real candles with wax dripping.
Here is a closer look. I ordered the gold color for this one so it would have more of an old world feel to them in this room.
Excuse the aluminum foil laying in the chair. I took them off the back of the sofa to take pictures and dummy me set them in the chair and there they are. Oops. I use foil to keep Bailey off the back cushions of this sofa. I don't want them permanently indented.
You can purchase these candle sleeves on line at Lumiere Candles. Their company is actually located only a couple of hours from me in the north Ga. mountains. They can also do custom sizes.

I like the change, Kim. Those sleeves are great.
ReplyDeleteA new chandy to replace the ceiling fan in the hearth room is on my to-do list this Spring. It's been on the list awhile. Maybe it will happen in 2012.
haha, love the foil tip. Great new look for the chandelier too. I love this room. Red it one of my favorite colors.
ReplyDeleteI have the candle sleeves too and they make such a nice difference in the quality of my light fixture. I, too, love this room of yours and I sure understand why Bailey wants to sleep in there!
ReplyDeleteoh-Thanks for the link, Kim. I do need to replace some old white ones and I only found them in a couple of sizes and none that would work. I will have to measure my own and get them ordered. Yours look great-nice mini redo! xo Diana

ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I know ceiling fans aren't the prettiest, but that's what alive got! I'd like to change them out but hate the though of losing the extra air circulation. One of these days...! The aluminum foil is a great tip too!

The only drawback is getting the wattage, but they could not be more charming and beautiful!! I think they would take this chandy to the next level!

It really has made a big difference.
All the Best,

Lovely room. Funny, I use the foil on the ledge outside my kitchen window to keep Charlie the cat away from the screen. It's not a pretty sight, but it does the job. I'm sure most people wonder why the foil is there. ha,ha.
ReplyDeleteThose little details make a big difference. I love that chandy in there~
ReplyDeleteYour new candle sleeves are perfect. I like the color. Looks so pretty in your room. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDelete~Des
I like the chandy both ways, but I prefer with no shade. Sure does give it a whole now look. Perfect for your room:)
ReplyDeleteI looks like a brand new one. Love the change.
ReplyDeleteThose sleeves are lovely, Kim! It really makes such a difference. And so does removing (or adding) the little shades! I added silk shades to a crystal chandelier in my dining room and it really toned down the "Let them eat cake!" style and made it more homey.

The candle sleeves add a nice touch to the chandelier in your cozy room.
ReplyDeleteWe had to put a magnetic curtain rod across the door screen to keep our dog from jumping up and tearing the screen. Whatever works!
Looks great, Kim! And I love the tin foil! =) I am always finding things I have moved in my pictures and then trying to crop them out - haha!
