I love the style of this lamp. It is solid brass.
The base actually holds candles. You can see how the brass inside has tarnished from use.
Group of vintage books on the other end.
See my new bookend? I got the pair of these, too at the same antique store. The vendor was sprucing up her booth and gave me a very generous discount. I was in the right place at the right time.
Now don't call the faux greenery police on me, but I put together this arrangement in a vintage tureen.
I bought this greenery from another vendor at the antique store. She sells some very realistic looking ones.
If it was real it would be dead in about a month.
I placed the lid to the tureen in this large stand and then a large piece of real coral for a summery touch.
I have also been adding to my majolica collection. I have found some great buys on ebay. I got this one for $9.99! It is in mint condition. Woo hoo.
I decided to switch out the little tiny red transferware plates for these.
A new look and the lamp was only $68.
Wow, it is almost the weekend again.

Lovely...your taste and mine are very similar. And like you, I hear all the decorators complain about fake plants. Well sorry, some of us just cannot keep the real thing going!! Until then, I will continue to use the fake ones!
ReplyDeleteYou have some great finds! I really like the lamp. Your plates look nice how they are hung near mirror.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend....
LOVE your new lamp! That would so be a perfect addition in our house Kim! So just in case you tire of it. This is one my favorite vignettes to date on your pretty buffet!

It all looks great! Love the lamp.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty vignette! I love your new lamp. I've never seen one quite like it. I would never have known that your fern was faux if you hadn't told us!
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp and a super yum to the majolica plates!!! Jane
ReplyDeleteIt is all so beautiful, I really like the clever way you displayed the lid. What a great idea:)

I love how you have put the vignette together. Using a plate rack for the lid holder was such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI'll be using that one.
I adore the way you displayed the lid...brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous new lamp!!!!!! I have never seen a lamp with candle holders on the base like that. The whole vignette is just beautiful :o)

Love the majolica as well as the ironstone and the lamp! Ironstone, creamware and majolica are a bit of my weaknesses! Stop by my shop sometime and you will see what I mean! Loved this post and the vignette was beautiful!

Love the changes you made to your sideboard. That lamp is perfect there. That was a good price for a lamp as nice as that!
ReplyDeleteOh Now I have LAMP ENVY! I LOVE IT!!! I especially like the base with the candlesticks. The whole setting is GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun week,
Hugs,
Donna
You are so good at this...reinventing things so they look fresh and new. I've pinned the way you put the lid to the tureen on a plate stand. Will be copying that very soon. Have a good evening!
ReplyDeletePutting the lid on an easel was VERY clever, love that. Love the coral there too. Your new lamp is great! I have 2 solid brass lamps in the basement that Joe wouldn't let me get rid of. Now that I see yours I may WANT to keep them:):) LOVE your foyer. Have a great weekend, Kim. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteWhat a great lamp! And a perfect vignette... You always make the best vignettes Kim!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful vignette, Kim! Love the lamp. I don't think I've ever seen one that held candles, too. I wondered about the ferns ~ I think they look great and I love them in the tureen.
ReplyDeleteLooks very nice Kim! Love the majolica plates. You have a great place to antique where you live.
ReplyDeleteSherry

ReplyDeleteI love that lamp, Kim. I have not seen any like it before. Your whole vignette looks great and I LOVE those green plates. They are the perfect finishing touch- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteKim, I love the majolica plates with your mirror. I was wondering how you hang your plates on the wall without the unsightly hanger showing. It makes such a difference.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a talent and your home is just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your home and life with us.
~ Kathy
Kathy, I use the plate hanging discs that you can find at Hobby Lobby. Michaels may carry them, too. You will find them right next to the wire plate hangers. I actually use both. The discs are a circle that you wet on the back to release the glue and you stick it on the plate and let it dry and it comes with a hanger attached.
ReplyDeleteI'm a complete believer in fake ferns. If you get a good one, they look just as nice as the real thing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful vignette Kim! I love the lamp and the way you displayed the lid.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous vignette Kim!! I love it all and your new majolica plates are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous vignette Kim. I love the size of the mirror with the buffet looks fabulous.

Great new look, Kim. You had a very successful shopping trip. And, while I love every piece, those bookends made my heart go pitter-pat. I have a similar set which belonged to my mother, and I have been searching for more for over forty years. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the patina on the lamp...it is gorgeous...You certainly found a great piece...and I am in awe of your new vignette...The plates are gorgeous...Beautiful, beautiful...
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I'm a fairly new reader and I really enjoy reading about your collecting adventures and seeing the vignettes, especially this one with the "vintage" lamp! I knew they were called Bouillotte, but never knew what that was so I took the time to do a little research. Bouillotte was a card game and these lamps were designed to adjust the shades to avoid a candle glare to the players eyes! ... just thought I would share.
ReplyDeleteKim, I love that lamp. The whole vignette is so pretty the bookend is really neat.
ReplyDeleteI love the table they are on. Beautiful
Cynthia
My favorite look on your pretty chest.
ReplyDeleteI love the lamp and how the books ground the whole thing.
Very pretty.
Your whole vignette looks beautiful. I am in love with your bookends. Those are definitely keepers.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the bookends, too. I'm a sucker for anything "dog"! Sweet lamp, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the lamp! So unusual with the candle bases and I love anything that is aged brass! I also love how you displayed the white cover. I never thought to do something like that!
ReplyDeleteYour foyer looks great! Love the tureen on the box with the fern and all your majolica. Great finds!
ReplyDeletelove love love it. And the mirror - just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove how you change things out. That mirror is amazing. I just changed out the vignette in my entry way, but it's not nearly as impressive as yours.I love that you change the plates on the walls. I worry that I won't find the right size, etc. But I do have a lot of them so perhaps I need to revisit that idea. Great plates!

Kim, you amaze me. You have such a flair for changing things up and creating beautiful new vignettes. But every time I see one of your new settings, I think "Oh, that's my favorite!" You are a master at pulling things together to make a pleasing scene.
ReplyDeleteThat lamp really is something special, and the pieces you chosen to go along with it are great. I love majolica, but I had no idea you could find pieces for that kind of deal. Your green plates look beautiful! And your faux greenery looks like the real thing!
Thank you so much for joining Grace at Home. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!
