Not just any blue. The perfect French blue. This is the same color as my vintage bread box and vintage blue colander.
Pelouze Family Scales date back to the late 1800's and were made in Chicago. This one has patent dates listed from 1898. This scale still works, too and when I looked for more info on them most of the old ones do still work. Not too bad of a find for $20.
Have a wonderful week!

ReplyDeleteWhat a neat piece, Kim. I don't think I have EVER seen a scale in that color of blue. I have spotted a couple of turquoise colored ones but never one in the French blue. How great that it actually WORKS- xo Diana

ReplyDeleteDon't think I've seen a blue one before...love the color on it. Around here most of the are green or white. I have 2 scales and one of them is a milk scale that hangs up on the wall.
ReplyDeleteCindy
This is a GORGEOUS scale... I just love that shade of blue. Great find!
ReplyDeleteSo cute. It is such a pretty shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteLove the color. I bought an antique hanging scale last year for a friends pantry and have been on a hunt for the perfect one for our future kitchen. Good find!
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I'm going to start using the phrase "blame it on blogging". I bet I could use it in reference to a ton of things :collecting, making unhealthy treats, tablescaping, buying more decor items, the "need" to get new throw pillows... I can see this becoming one of my favorite terms, especially in relation to discussions with my husband:)

I had to chuckle to myself when I saw this post. Your vignette is almost identical to the one I now have on our kitchen table. It has the same tray, a vintage scale, a bunch of lavendar, and a demi-john. I also added a cloth to soften it. I guess great minds really do think alike.
ReplyDeleteI love that you're adding more blue to your home, Kim!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
That blue just stole my heart! Great find.
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmie! OH, I love that pretty blue scale. I've been looking for a scale for a long time! :)

Shelia ;)

ReplyDeleteGreat color! That is a hard one to find.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Beautiful find Kim - so charming playing off the lavender and the weaving of the demijohns! Funny that you never thought about scales before blogging, and as for me, it was demijohns. Around here, when I go into a shop and ask the dealers if they have any they look at me like I am speaking a foreign language! Scales on the other hand have been huge around here for years and are in plentiful supply in nearly every color. Jane@Bluebird1959
ReplyDeleteStunning shade of blue!!

I love me an old scale, too! I haven't seen one in that pretty shade of blue before. I was on the hunt for a turquoise scale for several years for my kitchen. When I finally gave up and bought a green scale and mostly vintage green accent pieces for the room, the perfect turquoise scale showed up at a local shop. Sigh.
