I have been wanting one of these large English pure butter platters for a long time. There are so many ways you can use one of these.
I took a few pictures of it with this little vignette set up on it using a vintage blue enamelware colander filled with apples, a cow creamer and a vintage Dundee Marmalade jar.
I have wanted one of these marmalade jars for quite some time, too and a dear friend gifted it to me.
But this is where the platter is really being used.
It holds my essentials close to the cook top. Not that I cook that much. I do cook more in colder weather.
Thank you dear, for my birthday gift that I ordered on your card and thanked you when you brought it home since I forgot to change the shipping address. Your the best!
You can order one here.

ReplyDeleteI almost left a comment on Facebook asking you if he even knew he gave it to you yet? ;o) I shop on my husband's behalf, too! Also love that you have stuff on your countertops. Those houses w/ nothing on their counters just kills me. Love all the blue enamelware. Happy Birthday!

ReplyDeleteEven though I'm in the UK I never see marmalade jars like that for sale, though I keep looking.
Great use for the platter in the kitchen, MUCH nicer than a tray!

I really like it and have never heard of one. What was it originally used for? Just to put butter on? Don't you love it when your hubby gets you just what you directed to? It looks great in your kitchen.

ReplyDeleteKim- the platter looks amazing. I love that it elevates small, simple items and makes them look grand! What i am seriously coveting in your kitchen is your bread box. Please tell me it's something i can buy somewhere - (even though it's even more special if it's vintage.)I (i'm selfish like that! Lol)
ReplyDeleteThanks-
Brenda
Sue, the link is at the end of the post.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, it is vintage.
thanks
Superb choice! I have ALWAYS wanted one of those.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I've always admired those, too, Kim. And, "he" knew the perfect gift for you.♥
ReplyDeleteLooks very nice. A good idea to corral all those kitchen necessities.
ReplyDeleteLove BOTH the jar and the butter platter. Every time I see the one that Deloris at Vignette Designs has, I say to myself "self...you need one of those too." Now I will say the same thing whenever I see yours too. :)
ReplyDeleteWanna know what caught me eye...of course...the blue enamel bread box and the birthday gift is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely butter platter, Kim. I love text and signage throughout the house, especially in the kitchen, and that adds so much to your counter -- both in looks and function! Enjoy it. (Happy Belated Birthday!)
