I mixed up the powder with water and then brushed one coat all over the stool. It didn't do any peeling for me so I sanded it. Then it was waxed.
This project took me less than one hour. Can't beat that for a quick change.
I love all the old colors showing through. This stool has layers of Old White, Old Violet, Arles, and Antibes Green in Annie Sloan Chalk Paints.
I am loving it with the red on top and the heavy sanding.
This is the old stool in the powder room that is used as a place for hand towels and soap since there is no counter top. I switched the hand towels with some fall ones.
Here is a reminder of the before with the Antibes Green being the main color.
I am loving the red. I had started removing some of the red from my home, but nope gotta have it. I love color and I love red. I was provided this Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint by my sponsor and now I have two new colors that I ordered and can't wait to work with them.
Have a super weekend and come back tomorrow for another fabulous guest blogger's beautiful favorite room. Also come back on Saturday for an awesome giveaway.

ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you bringing back red into your gorgeous home! The stool is just perfect with all those layers showing through. Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, Kim, I just LOVE that red color from MMS! I'm with you that the more colors you put on a piece, the more interesting it is when you sand it back. It's great! I'm not sure where to buy the milk paint...who is your sponsor that you got yours from?
ReplyDeleteThe green was so fresh looking... but WOW. I am loving the red and it does look so very vintage now with all the lovely layers of color. It's darling with the ticking stripe towel too. Great pairing :)
ReplyDeletelove the red too! that is such a cool color name as well, perfect. This stool turned out beautiful, it looks like it aged that way all on its own through time,
ReplyDeleteKim that looks fabulous!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteLove it Kim! I adore red too and can't seem to do without it in my house either....I may need an intervention....or NOT!

The new color looks great Kim! Love using the rungs as a towel holder too! so clever!
ReplyDeleteI love how it turned out! The color is great!
ReplyDeleteI love pops of red in a room, too. I have 3 stools in my craft room that are awaiting their coats of red. I love tricycle red, but will use up my Primer Red chalk paint since I have it on hand (and very sadly, the girl who was going to be the local MMS stockist, and sells chalk paint/does classes died recently in a tragic accident)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use a stool beside a sink to hold soap and towels. I pinned this to my Pinterest board! Would be cute to place by an outside faucet as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...gotta have my red! I noticed you changed the rug too! Love them both.
ReplyDeleteLove the layers of color. When you repaint a waxed piece do you have remove the wax before painting?
ReplyDeleteLinda, I never have and the paint goes on just fine.
ReplyDeleteI like it in the red.. goes well in the space you choose too.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteLOVE all the layers of that paint.Red is such a great color. You can always count on it to make that special pop in a room.I have red in my cottage too!
