I love fall and the cooler temps it brings. Last Monday was cool and cloudy here and it is raining again today. I love to make a pot of soup or chili when it is like that outside so I made a big pot of pasta fagioli that is supposed to be like Olive Garden's recipe. All I know is it was easy and good so I thought I would share it.
I decided to make the table fairly presentable since I was putting time into cooking.
Many of you commented on my squirrel napkin rings in this post. I bought them at Pottery Barn a couple years ago.
Mr. Savvy loved this soup.
I served it with crusty bread and some fresh parmesan cheese to top it with. Mr. Savvy always eats saltines with his.
This really hit the spot on a chilly day.
You can find the recipe here from the original source it was pinned from.
I tell ya, it is hard to watch what you eat in order to lose some weight when you start seeing all the goodies on Pinterest. I think I gain weight just looking at the pictures.
Have a great day and I may pump out another post tonight.

Oh, I do love this soup at Olive Garden, so I'll have to try your recipe! It's definitely soup season! Your place setting is just perfect for some homemade soup and chunk of bread. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Leslie
I order this soup at Olive Garden quite a bit. I think it's time for a trip to OG. Or I can make it here at home.:-)
ReplyDeleteLove those napkin rings!
This is Mike's favorite. I will go check out the recipe now Kim. LOOKS delish!
ReplyDeleteCooler weather and a stick-to-our-ribs hearty soup in a gorgeous autumn coloured stoneware bowl?
ReplyDeleteDoes it get much better than that?
Yum - thank you for sharing the recipe you found, too!
have a wonderful week!
All that's missing is the unlimited salad and breadsticks!
ReplyDeleteMy girls love soup - they would love making this.
So much fun at the Southern Bloggers Conference - and thrilled to finally meet you in person!

Really that soup is not high calorie. Especially if you used less ground beef or lean ground beef (which I always use, I just cannot bear ground turkey, even though I know it would be better!), and limit the cheese. It sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteI do pin and like you I have found some really fattening goodies, but I've found some good, healthy, low-cal recipes also. You can find some good WW recipes on there.

That looks great Kim! I do love those squirrel napkin rings.
ReplyDeleteI made enchiladas....gooey, cheesy and comforting-lol. But not so good for watching calories.
So glad to hear you had a good time! I love this soup. I haven't had it in forever... I will have to try this recipe soon. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves pasta fagioli, Kim. I have to check out that recipe because you used my key word ~ easy!
ReplyDeleteKim, the soup looks wonderful....We love soup for dinner!!..So going to try this recipe!...Had a magnificent time with you at the Southern Bloggers Conference!....so looking forward to seeing you again soon!...Wish I were a "fly in the car" on your way home from the conference with Laura J....I can imagine all the laughing going on!!...
ReplyDeletelove soup on a cold night! I would definitely pick bread over saltine on this one...but I am a bread addict.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your photographs! They make me so hungry for soup!
ReplyDeleteI love love love to cook, but it does not love my waistline. After years and years and pounds and pounds I still cook, but eat tiny portions and I am selective. I'd rather have a little of delicious than a whole lot of things that are not satisfying! I am loosing weight... a little at a time!
I usually forgo starches. I mostly eat main dish and veggie. Bobby still loves a "complete" meal... so I cook for him!
Thanks so much for stopping by ON THE MENU MONDAY with your scrumptious looking soup!
Looking forward to making soup. We love tortilla soup.
ReplyDeleteWe love soups and love to make them in Fall and Winter too. Your place setting looks so pretty too, love the napkin rings. I will go get this recipe for us to try. Thanks, Kim and glad you had fun at the conference. XO, Pinky

ReplyDeleteI love that soup, Kim, so thanks for posting the recipe link.
ReplyDeleteI don't go near Pinterest. I had a go at it and realised that with full time work and full time housekeeping and traveling and reading blogs.....there was not enough time for pinning!
