If Drawers Could Talk

I use to love watching the program "If Walls Could Talk" on HGTV. It was so interesting what some people found lurking within the walls of their old homes. Well, in this new piece of furniture, that we just bought, I found a very tiny old photo wedged in a drawer.

I gave you a little sneak peek of this piece the other day. Still not sharing how it looks in our house yet, but I will soon. Shirley of Housepitality Designs, was with me when I found it in fact that is why we went. She wanted to see where I shop while she was here. I am so glad we went. This piece had just been put out and was waiting for me. lol

I wanted to show you more of the beautiful details of this piece first. This is burled walnut.

I love the long brass hinges.

This is a picture I took of it in the antique mall. I had to show Mr. Savvy what I was wanting to buy.

He agreed to pay for half if I could get the price down and I did. As you can see there is a plaid fabric added to the back, but it works well in my room.

I know many of you are thinking that it will eventually get painted. Not this beautiful piece. Not ever. I don't paint over beautiful real wood. 

There is a double locking key for every door and all the keys came with it.

Getting back to the tiny picture. I stuck it in this little frame and have it displayed on the piece. As you can see the name is French. Looks like a little girl (could be a boy though) maybe in the 1930's. The piece we bought is an antique French vaisselier. I think I spelled that right. We call it a hutch in America or Welsh cupboard in England. Whatever it is called Mr. Savvy and I both love it. Men don't understand changing something, but he can't even stop looking at it. That makes it a very good purchase and the price was right. I found similar pieces on ebay and on antique sites and the cheapest I found was $3700. We didn't pay anywhere near that.
