Post Edit: Laura changed her blog name to Duke Manor Farm since this post.
When Kim asked me to share my favorite room today I really had to think about what to share with you. To know me you would know that my favorite room really isn't a room at all. Truth be told, I totally love the outdoors so any of my patios or decks would truly be favorites. But since this series is about rooms, I chose my Keeping Room, or as I would like to refer it as "The Mom Zone".
Did you know that the true definition for a "keeping Room" is a room from colonial times that was kept warm from the kitchen. On cold nights the family would sleep in the keeping room because the rest of the house was to cold. Aren't you glad you know that?
That is not the case in my room. Sure I can heat up in the winter with the wall of windows to keep warm, but sadly my family will not. See, this room is for me and only me.
It's a place to read the paper and drink my tea. A place to meditate, look out the window and be thankful for what I have. A place when girlfriends visit we can sit, giggle and chat.
Occasionally I will invite my hubby in so we can sit back and appreciate all of the hard work that went in in constructing this room and the details that make it special to us both. Like the wood beams on the ceiling that came from our property.
Or the many transformations and journey that it took to get here, particularly how the room looked when we originally moved in 10 years ago.
And when my color senses calmed down a bit a few years ago.
To where the room is today. A room that is more like me, who I am and what I want to reflect to others. Simple, clean and quite.
If you want to see where the rest of the family hangs out in my home I would love for you to visit me at Duke Manor FarmThanks for coming along today!
Thanks, Laura for sharing your favorite room even though it may be your second choice. I hope to hang out there with you soon so we can catch up.

That room is just so great, I love the colour scheme and such a change from red. I used to have bright colours in my house many years ago but now that Iv'e settled down a bit so has the colour scheme. Love the roof too, it's all just beautiful.
