Good Saturday morning. I am looking out at gray and cold. It is supposed to clear up and get very windy today. I don't like the cold, but that's okay because I am going to go sit in a movie theater this afternoon for three hours and watch this with my daughter since neither of our husbands want to see it. Have you seen it yet?
Christmas has all been put away and now I just need to figure out new vignettes.
What are you doing today?
Out to breakfast and antiquing with my hubby. We are not much on movies lol. Windy here too.

ReplyDeleteI'll be sitting by the fire with a good book and, over the course of the day, a cup of coffee and croissant, tea and cookies, a glass of wine. The tree lights still twinkle, and Christmas will stay through Jan 6th. Lazy days!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the movie.....have seen the old ones and saw the play in Toronto...wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI purchased 2 large shelving units from Lowe's yesterday and will start organizing the basement....the 'abyss'. Hope to get a lot done...its snowing again and a good time to stay inside and work....aiming for a 'clean' New Year.....
I saw Les Miz the day after Christmas and loved it - so moving and great performances!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see this movie! I am trying to get organized with all the Christmas 'mess' that seems to be everywhere when you have 3 young kids worth of toys to put away. I could sure use your help with some vignettes for my new mudroom. I hope to pull something together so I can reveal the room next week 😊
ReplyDeleteI don't go to too many movies but that one is on my list. We are getting more snow. Our 13 year old son is in a Christmas hockey tournament and they have advanced to the next level so we will be spending more time in the arena. At home I am beginning to pack away Christmas decor and working on organizing a few cupboards. Wishing you all the best in the new year.
ReplyDeleteTrying to decide if my 9 year old is old enough to go see it with us. We watched a stage version together on youtube. She seemed to enjoy it with me. This is one of my favorite stories. I have seen it on stage three times and can hardly wait. The scene with the priest just makes me sob every times. Enjoy!!! Oh, and I am taking my husband!! I drag him to everything! He knows the music too, because it was played in it's entirety on The Broadway station once, on an eight hour drive, we had. I sang from beginning to end for him and translated when it was difficult to make out the words (he is French) Ah ha...poor guy!

I saw it Christmas morning and will be going again as it has always been my favorite musical. The sets and costumes are fantastic. I will spend 12 hours at my store today as we are having an in store quilt retreat. Should be great fun.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see it. My daughter loved it. My son-in-law not so much. LOL. Enjoy the mother-daughter time! I'm tackling the Christmas decor today. I usually take it down right away but my other daughter who is home from college begged me to leave it up a little longer for her.
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about it. Good for you that you have cleaned up all of your Christmas stuff. We put it all away New Year's Day. It's my favorite day of the year because my house seems huge that day after everything is cleaned up. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHI Kim, A friend of mine saw this and thought it was good; to be honest I don't even know the plot. Hope you have a wonderful day-that sounds very fun; I would love to go see Lincoln. Happy New Year to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen
I haven't seen it but would love to. Mr. Comforts has no interest in seeing it though, so more than likely I will wait until it comes to Netflix. Today I am painting baseboards and paneled doors. Mr. Comforts is painting the kitchen ceiling. Sounds like fun, huh?
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen the movie but I saw the play. Planning on seeing it with my mom, can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I have a tradition to wait until New Year's Eve to take my Christmas stuff down ... but I may cave and start early. I'm looking forward on seeing the changes you made to the house. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYes it is AWFUL outside. Sounds like a good thing to do today (seeing a movie). I don't much care for musicals on the big screen though. I've heard that musical is good though so it will probably be a good movie too. I still haven't seen Skyfall yet, so that is on my list to see. We may go shopping with Will today to spend some of his christmas money. Not sure. Taking it easy today mostly.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen that movie and don't plan on it.It seems like a sad depressing movie. It is so dark, gloomy and cold here it would not be lifting for my spirits to see it LOL!We are however getting together with friends tonight and I am looking forward to the warm company and laughs!Christmas is still up in our home.I did very minimal so I am not tired of it yet.I will take it down when my daughter heads back to school.

I dragged my husband to the local theater to see the first showing on Christmas day and I loved it! Very well done, indeed. Note, hubby appeared to be snoozing several times throughout the movie, but he was not snoring....so, no harm done.
ReplyDeleteI am still enjoying the Christmas decorations for now. Thinking of taking it all down on New Year's day, but dreading the "bare nekkid" look when it comes down.....
We were crazy and saw it Christmas day. I read the book in my twenties. I would have rather seen the play but I don't like big cities. It is an excellent story about love and human nature.
ReplyDeleteI saw it on stage but now the movie yet. We all went to see jack Reacher the day after Christmad and we all loved it! It is snowing here and our dinner group had reservations for dinner at a real nice restaurant but everyone opted out this morning:( I am going to try to talk Joe into going, just us. Wish me luck:):) XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI want to see it - BUT - I've heard that people sob through it, and I want to laugh, not cry. So tell me what you think.
ReplyDeleteWe're seen Guilt Trip and Jack Reacher and enjoyed both. Next wk we'll give Parental Guidance a go. But today is shopping!
Brrr...I'm sitting here trying to keep warm. Our Christmas decorations are still up as Hub likes to keep them up til the New Year... that's the reason I haven't posted much...not much new to show.
ReplyDeleteHope y'all enjoy the movie.
Stay warm,
Babs
I read the book bery sad love story, my Christmas decoration still up in our home,we taking it all dound after the 6 of january we weit for the Three King.

Kim, I read the comments...surprised about so many people that don't know the story, or think it's depressing. I've read the book twice and seen the musical live 5 times over a period of 20 years....most recently this past spring in Atlanta. We saw the movie on Thursday and thought it was wonderful. My husband is a Les Mis fan, too (even though he is a sports fanatic!). For me, it's a story of redemption...a man who had a bad hand dealt to him and made something wonderful with his life - all the while helping others...a story of grace and redemption. How could anyone not love that, with all the Hollywood junk and drivel being produced these days? Frankly, I thought all the previews we had to endure before the film started were mindless junkfood compared to the feast of "Les Miserables". That's my two cents :) Linda

One of my very favorite musicals! My daughter saw the movie yesterday and said it was good! Stay warm, and enjoy that amazing story with unforgettable music!
ReplyDeleteKat
Haven't seen it but the other day saw Anna Karenina and it was fabulous. (Again, an extra long epic sad period film.)
ReplyDeleteWe just returned from an amazing morning wedding and luncheon - with this snowfall, oh it was such a beautiful wedding!
We were supposed to go out of town tomorrow to celebrate Christmas with hubs family but they just called to tell us my MIL is sick, so suddenly we have the rest of this evening and all day tomorrow - so we were discussing seeing this. Either that or tear down Christmas.
Hey, may I get popcorn, too, honey????????? (heh heh I need elves!!!)
We went to see Les Mis the other night with friends and LOVED it!! Time well spent.

Had some surgery yesterday morning and had to spend the night in the hospital. I had two days after Christmas to take down decorations, clean, clean, clean! Glad I did because the house looks wonderful now. Will have to catch Les Miz on DVD, but I'm looking forward to it. Hope you enjoy your night out!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite musicals-I've seen in live twice and wondered how it would transfer to the screen.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear-I hope you both love it!
Seeing Lincoln - we're a little behind!
ReplyDeleteNancy
Went to see Les Mis with my husband last night and we both really enjoyed it. Funny thing we watched the one with Liam Neeson tonight to compare it. We found ourselves all day singing to each other instead of talking!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I went to get a 1 hour massage and then an early dinner date at Red Lobster.
ReplyDeleteI saw it on Friday with a girlfriend, since my hubby won't go to the movies with me anymore. We were spellbound watching it. Terrific! I didn't expect that much singing, since I was comparing it to the oldies like Oklahoma and South Pacific. For the most part it was an older audience, and everyone clapped at the end. Something I've never seen at a theater. Glad I saw it.
ReplyDeleteWe went to see Les Mis last night and it was so amazing. What did you think?
ReplyDeleteWe saw it Friday evening and I can't stop thinking about it and getting the I Dreamed a Dream song out of my head. Just loved it!
