Hi! I'm Des from Peeking thru the Sunflowers
Thank you so much Kim for inviting me to share my favorite room....I am so flattered that you chose me and it really is such an honor!!!!!
A little history about our home:
Our home was once a schoolhouse…..it was built in 1870 and then later converted to a private residence for a family with ten children. Originally there were just two rooms and a horse stable attached to the back of the house for the teacher’s horse. When the home was turned into a private residence it was divided up into several rooms to accommodate the large family and operated as a small farm for many years. The home was remodeled into a B&B in 1980 and was added to the Kansas Historic Register at that time. We have lived in the home nine years during which we have done extensive renovations………
Today I would like to share my favorite room with you which was such a hard decision because I really love our master bedroom........... but in the end I chose our living room.
The French armoire and little table behind the settee were both Craig's List finds that have been transformed with paint.
The rocking horse on top of the armoire was found at a New Year's Day auction fifteen years ago....
The rocking horse on top of the armoire was found at a New Year's Day auction fifteen years ago....

The French Morbier clock was a gift from me to my husband for his 40th birthday........
I have been collecting white ironstone for twenty years....most pieces were only a few dollars a piece.
This French chair was also a Craig's List find. Originally it was painted a bright gold but with a little paint and a little distressing it now looks like this!

I fell in love with the brick maker's table from Restoration Hardware but with the expensive price tag the piece was out of my budget. So, my darling husband made this one for me out of reclaimed wood
I have been collecting canes for many years.
Our front door was originally a window since this was once the side of the building. Although the door is not original to the house it is quite beautiful and has a stunning etched glass window.
It even has a little brass hand crank door bell!
