To refresh your memory or for those new here the other cabinets are the antiqued ivory which were professionally painted when we did a mini kitchen makeover several years ago. These are still in very good condition, but the black ones just wore so badly.
Have y'all tried honey bells? OMG they are so juicy and so good. Dawn shared these on her blog and I ordered some and I will order them again next year. I understand they are only available a very short time.
The best part is I did this ALL BY MYSELF with no help from Mr. Savvy.
He said he was going to hire me out. No, I don't think so.
You can see how they looked before in this old post.
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint in Chateau Gray.
I will share a tutorial soon.
Post edit: Tutorial post found HERE.
Gorgeous Kim! I love the green color you chose. Your kitchen always looks amazing! I just got my first box of Honeybells this year too. They are SO juicy and good! Yum!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous job Kim!! They look beautiful, love the color and love how you added the glaze!
ReplyDeleteThis looks really beatutiful! I just love your kitchen!! =D
ReplyDeleteLooks great. So much lighter and brighter than the black. great change. And well done you for doing it yourself. Thanks for sharing, liz
ReplyDeleteKim, you really did an amazing job on those cabinets. Mr.Savvy must be proud, Bailey too!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love love your cabinets! I am making plans on painting my island and would love a tutorial. Thank you so much, I can hardly wait!!! Also, what is the name of your hardware (pulls and knobs)...I have none and have been looking for weeks. Thanks for your wonderful sharing! Love love!! Pamie G.
ReplyDeleteReally nice Kim..it totally lightens and brightens y our kitchen. I love the color.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Totally worth the six days of work. Hope you are feeling better too!
ReplyDeleteKim, it looks beautiful and really flows so seamlessly with your (already) gorgeous kitchen. I'm loving the color you chose too - very classic.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you did it!
Gorgeous Kim!! Okay, my kitchen cabinets are a similar color, only more green. I was going to paint them more gray, and now we are moving, so I hope to leave them alone, unless I need to paint them to sell the house. I love your cozy kitchen, and there's nothing wrong with taking your time painting, or doing anything for that matter. I don't push myself like I used to either.
ReplyDeleteKim, it looks amazing!! Seriously - that green was absolutely the best paint to use for this project. I'm swooning over how gorgeous it is. And I love your pot rack hanging up; totally makes me miss home. I love a good southern kitchen.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how one little color change can make such a difference and create a whole new look! I can't believe you did that, especially while you were sick. It looks great and so professional.
ReplyDeleteJenna
It is a beautiful contrast to the creamy cabinets - and can I say that I really want your cow mount above your stove?!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon!
You did an amazing job on your island, Kim. Your paint job is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
I just noticed we have the same wooden floors. (: Wow, the paint job is amazing. I need to dream up a fix for my worn cabinets too.
ReplyDeleteKim, you did an incredible job! They look amazing ... I loved the black, but this is a refreshing change, giving your kitchen a great new look. I'm sure Mr. Savvy is quite proud! (Hope you're feeling better!)
ReplyDeleteLove the new look. Can't wait for the tutorial. Hope you're feeling better. Have a great week. Sheila
ReplyDeleteKim, I LOVE how it turned out! The color is beautiful! I have been thinking about painting my bakers rack a similar color. It is wood now but has an awful orange tinge to it. I am such a wimp though when it comes to painting a big piece!
ReplyDelete-Shelley
Very inspiring! I painted my counter black a few years ago and like you mentioned....mine is showing the wear and tear. It was green before I painted it black so now I am in a quandry as to which color to go with next. Still thinking....I might have to go green again. Your's is lovely!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Kim!! I love the look of glazed cabinetry (glazed anything for that matter). Can't wait to see what product you used for the glaze (or wax). I also really like the look of two different cabinet finishes in a kitchen...much more customized. Chateau Grey is such a great color too. I have black cabinetry and they do show every water spot, dust, etc!
ReplyDeleteLove the green, Kim! Very similar what I have in my bathroom for cabinets and linen cabinet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job Kim! I love that color! I have not tried that one....yet!Hope you are feeling better soon.My husband just came down with a cough/cold over the weekend.

ReplyDeleteCheers, Gee
I love the softness of the green that you chose. It looks wonderful. I'm super impressed that you did it all by yourself. You go girl!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, Kim. You did a great job. We are in the thinking process of our kitchen and the cabinets are the one thing that keeps me from moving forward because I think we are going to have to paint them ourselves in order to afford the changes we want to make. Please do a tutorial or maybe I'll hire you (you do live close to me...LOL).
ReplyDeleteYou are a worker bee...well done. I so like the light and open look of your kitchen. I would love a bigger kitchen space but chances are I will never get one...I'll just enjoy yours. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love that greenish gray color! We've lived in our new house for 8 months...the island is stained an espresso color. It is already showing scratches and I think we are very careful. Maybe this is what I need to do. It's gorgeous, Kim.
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job and the color is just perfect for your kitchen! - Susan
ReplyDeleteYou did such a beautiful job, Kim!! It looks professional! Can't wait for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteThe island in Chateau Grey is going to cause a run on that color now Kim! The best part is how beautifully you finished it with the clear and dark waxes. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteYour island turned out beautiful!!! I love the green. And those stools are fantastic! Looking forward to following your blog :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Kim! Love the color.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Kim. The paint color is such a pretty color of green, turned out great!

That is absolutely fabulous! And, the color I have in my head to do my cabinets someday! Honeybells...we were driving back from Dothan AL
ReplyDeleteand saw a huge roadside sign saying that they had Honeybells and my
husband and I both wondered what they were. Wished we had stopped
now!

Kim, it's absolutely beautiful! Well done. No wonder you're so happy with them. I love the color you chose. And you used glazing on top too, right? It looks so great, I'm impressed. And love the little urn with the rosemary plant by your sink. It looks very happy there. :) Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteWow Kim, I love the new look, and that color is perfect for your kitchen! You should hire yourself out!
ReplyDeleteKat
It looks great Kim....cant wait to see how you did it!
ReplyDeleteI think he could hire you out and retire! The color looks great with the countertop. As for honeybells, my dad sends me a box every year in January and I love them. They are so juicy and yummy. I want your lavendar! Do you have a place you order it?
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better...my husband is home sick today for the first time that didn't come after a surgery. I swear he hasn't missed 3 days of work sick in 37 years! He has been down all weekend and is actually at the doctor right now. That man feels horrible and it isn't pretty!
Kim, you did such a fantastic job, I can see why Mr. Savvy want's to hire you out, and I would gladly be your first customer!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the tutorial.
It looks beautiful Kim, love that color.

ReplyDeleteKim, your island is absolutely gorgeous and the color coordinates so well with your granite. I think that was the ultimate compliment from Mr. Savvy when he said that he could hire you out!
ReplyDeleteKim, you did such an amazing job, they look like a pro did them. It is so rewarding to to it yourself and save all that money. Perfect color choice too:)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love the colour. It looks professionally done!
ReplyDeleteI just found you today. Nice blog :)
Cheers!
Antonella @ The Comfortable Home
I knew I would love it just based on the teaser you posted! What a gorgeous color, perfect in your home. Can't believe the color is called Chateau Grey.... I am looking forward to the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I bet that was a lot of work, but now that it's done it was well worth it. Hopefully, that paint will hold up better than the black did.
ReplyDeleteJust love it!
ReplyDeleteKim, those look amazing! You did such a great job! Love the lighter look. I can't wait to see the tutorial as I'm very curious about using chalk paint on kitchen cabinets...
ReplyDeletegorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing Kim! I never would have guessed they weren't professionally done, I'll hire you :)
ReplyDeleteKim-WOW- HOLY COW WOMAN! That looks great- It looks as professionally done as the other ones. My daughter has the same type of cabinets- White glazed cabinets and black island. Her cabinets still look great and the island looks awful. It has not worn well at all. I am going to show this to her. I like that color grey- it almost looks like it has a greenish undertone? Wonderful job! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh, Kim. . . how beautiful!! Can't WAIT to see the tutorial. These look absolutely fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThey are really good looking. We love our gray peninsula with white cabinets every where else. We have a white glaze though.
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous colour and you did a pro job on them, Kim. The gray/green looks great with your other cabinets too. You should give yourself a huge pat on the back (or treat yourself to something) for a job well done.
ReplyDeleteI like this soft green a lot! (Chateau Grey is one of my go-to ASCP colors). Way to go, Kim!!
ReplyDeleteKim, I am giving you a standing ovation!!!! Big KUDOS to you! The color with the antiquing is GORGEOUS!!!! What a fabulous job. If you hubby hires you out... I get first dibs!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, It's beautiful!! I love the color (I don't have that one in my Annie Sloan collection...yet). It works so perfectly with the rest of your color choices that I can see why you had to trade in the black. Your kitchen is stunning. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
My gosh, Kim! You really can do it all! It looks fabulous and sooooo professional. You are a PRO :) I love the green. The black was attractive but this is softer and easier on the eye. I hope you have fully recovered.....sorry about your cough.

ReplyDelete~Cindy
Kim, that is incredible!!! You did such a good job! I am so glad that you and the Mr. love it! Way to go!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what happened!? You were in my google Reader and then you disappeared! I had to come get you! Somehow, I unfollowed you? How the heck did that happen?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those cabinets! It's amazing the tones that Chateau Grey takes on. I did my daybed with Dark Wax only and it looks almost forest green!
I want to use Annie Sloan to do my cabinets but I was afraid it might not "hold" when I wash them. I am so interested to see how yours work out!
xoxo
Andie

ReplyDeleteNancy
You did a great job, Kim,and the color is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mr. Savvy....... hire yourself out. Looks just as professional as a professional. Although if I think about it with all the re-painting of stuff you've done you probably already qualify as a professional!

ReplyDeleteVery nice change, Kim! I have creamy cabinets with a black island, and maybe the same granite as yours, so my wheels are spinning! I love the black island for now, but I'm not saying I haven't considered switching up the color. The color combo you chose looks great!
ReplyDeletewow...nice job!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous, and I love that you just painted through the pain ...
ReplyDelete:) Linda
You did a wonderful job Kim - they look every bit as good at the professionally painted cabinets!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely dreamy Kim! I wish I had your patience and talent with the paint brush! Looking forward to a tutorial, I girl can hope :)
ReplyDeleteYou did that - looks like you had a crew of painters in! I love a painted island - almost did it myself (but went with a red stove as the color instead).
ReplyDeleteThe cow head on the hood is perfection! Just don't cook any steaks under his nose!
Kelly
Pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Kim, your kitchen looks amazing! I love the new color on your cabinets, so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Those look gorgeous. I don't think six days is a long time to paint them. It took me three days to paint one little wall in my living room. We move slower these days.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen Kim! I painted my kitchen cabinets green too. Mine are B.M. dry sage. Can you tell me the name of your granite?
ReplyDeleteThanks ♥ Dee
This project is absolutely amazing. I think it softens the overall look of your kitchen. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteLovely color Kim,Green is my favorite color and this color is beautiful.I got the name chateau grey.Could you please tell me what brand of paint this is?.It's perfect for the color I want for my upstairs bathroom cabinet.I also would love to know if you bought the lavender and if sofrom where?I try every year to grow it.I even buy the plants but can not get it to live.
ReplyDeleteThanks,peachyheart@yahoo.com
Wow! That turned out great! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to decide on what paint and what color of paint to do my kitchen cupboards and cabinets and saw your lovely island and cannot wait to see your tutorial! It is the greatest feeling and quite the feeling of accomplishment when you do it yourself, isn't it? I've been painting a WHOLE house since we bought it in July and the kitchen cabinets will just about make a whole level on the house done...other than the front foyer which to my dismay I just found out has 2 layers of wallpaper!!!
ReplyDeleteThe finish on your island cabinets is beautifully done, and all by yourself, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Kim! Love that shade of green.
ReplyDeleteIn love with your stools. Great look overall!
ReplyDeleteI love the green cabinets! And those stools are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteAllison
The island looks fabulous! Can you tell me what glaze you used?
ReplyDeleteWow, Kim!!!! They look professionally painted!!! I love the color. That s one ASCP that I haven't tried! Must try!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Everything about your kitchen is amazing! I'm in love with the rack over your island. I've wanted one of those forever, and I love how yours looks! Thanks so much for sharing your home! Have a wonderful weekend. And thanks for always hosting such a great link party! I'm here every Wednesday!
ReplyDeletePopped over from MMM. That Chateau Gray looks warm and wonderful with your granite colors. Lovely!

wow great job. so rewarding and extra special that you did it all by yourself. I love that feeling. doesn't happen all that often. feel proud!!! looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see this. Just last week I realized that I needed to paint my island Chateau Gray instead of the black I was planning. How fabulous to see it done so I know it will turn out great!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The green color is gorgeous, and you did an amazing job. The pics were so beautiful that I scrolled through before I read the words... and I was sure they were factory finished... then when I read the words I was amazed to see you did it by hand. Did you sand and then do a light rubbed stain at the end? or how did you get that beautiful distressing with a little brown? thank you for sharing this lovely kitchen! Little Bit from www.decoratewithalittlebit.com
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteThe island looks fabulous! You did an awesome job!
Jane
I missed the reveal last week~ but I totally love them!!! AWESOME job Kim!!
ReplyDeleteI love the makeover you did on your kitchen cabinets. It looks really nice. Your site is one of my favorites. I love all the diy projects you do. I wish I was as talented as you are in that area.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

They look great Kim....hurray for Chalk paint! It has changed painting cabinets so much!!! Used to be so much more time consuming for sure.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!
ReplyDeletewww.mommymandymusings.com
Wow Kim, Just love the color and finish. I am waiting for the tutorial? Maybe you posted it and I missed it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Andie and wondering how it is holding up by now. Please keep us posted.
Looking at your photos I am wondering. . .had you considered painting your dishwasher to match? ASCP is touted to stick to any surface?? You could even glue a square of thin molding to the front to make it look more like the cabinets. Just a thought. Think when I paint mine I'll do the dishwasher too.
