After the Christmas mantel decor came down I stood there stumped as to what I wanted to do on the mantel, but then it came to me that some of the stuff I used on the Christmas mantel would carry through for a winter mantel. So I kept the trophy and urn, a couple of pine cones and some greenery on one side. Then I added the lantern with a candle on the other side. That wasn't quite right so I added the antlers. Then for a little added texture I added the faux vine, that looks so real, that I bought before Christmas and draped it over the lantern.
Now I am quite pleased with it until.....
Y'all have a super week!

I love how it turned out, it does look very "wintery". I can't wait until we redo our fireplace and I have a real mantle!!! Have a great day. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have such great style, Kim! The mantel looks fresh and beautiful. I love how both sides are same height with different objects. The trophies are fabulous and the vine looks great draped around the lantern.
ReplyDeleteI always struggle with my mantle for some reason! It is very long and we need light in that area so I have buffet lamps on it. You really have the decorating touch, Kim. Adding the brambles to the lantern is the perfect example of knowing just the right extra to add to make everything more interesting!
ReplyDeleteVery upscale, classic and interesting! Another winner!!!
Hi Kim, your winter mantel looks great. I can't believe the vine isn't real! I love the books you have on there, they add just the right amount of height and color. Thanks for sharing your talents with us. Have a great day!

The lantern is PERFECT. Great mantel, Kim!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim!!
ReplyDeleteI love the patina on the trophies. You are a lucky gal. I can't find them, or I should say, I can't find affordable old trophies anywhere. My husband was a college jock, but none of his trophies ever looked like the old school ones.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful painting! I especially like the addition of the vine on the lantern. It softens it. You have softness with the greens in the urn and with the feathers of the peacock, so the vine on the lantern ties it in with the rest of the look. Just my humble opinion. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how that looks! It has a rustic vibe to it which I like.
ReplyDeleteYou did good, Kim. Your mantel is BEAUTIFUL!! Just perfect!

Looks fantastic, Kim! I love the faux vine wrapped around your lantern.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a new way to dress up my mantel after the holiday decor came down. Thanks for some inspiration. Your mantel looks really beautiful.

Perfection, Kim! ~Jane
ReplyDeleteLove it, simple elegance. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs marty
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Kim! I am so crushing on your trophy cup (I think I told you that once before) and your deer antlers! Makes me want to go out and rummage around in my in-law's barn and clean cobwebs off a few to bring home. Such a gorgeous mantle!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Kim. I love that trophy cup!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Kim. I want a vintage trophy cup and am going to make a trip to my favorite place in Concord, NC to see what I can find. Your mantel is very cozy and inviting! Melinda
ReplyDeletePerfect! I love lanterns, and that this one is narrow enough to fit in a mantle shelf. Great job.
ReplyDeleteYour winter mantel looks great Kim. So classic and not overdone!Love the lantern and the trophy cup.
ReplyDeleteit is gorgeous in its simplicity. looooove the trophy and urn, well and the lantern lol. perfect
ReplyDeleteVery nice Kim - just enough going on to make up for having to put away all the Christmas things. Just goes to show that 'less' doesn't have to mean 'dull'.
ReplyDeleteI love the mantel for winter. Every time I see that trophy I have to admire how it looks in your home! Truly love your decor! Until next time...
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
I love it Kim, you just inspired me to perhaps go do mine now:)
ReplyDeleteI tend to use a few things from Christmas for my "winter transition" as well - including antlers and cones. I love your little trophy. It all looks great!
ReplyDeleteI luv it. Funny, I too left up some of the Christmas mantel decor added a lantern and candle and called it done. For now...
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gee
How sweet and inviting-perfect for a
ReplyDeletewinter vignette!
Looks great. Simple elegance.
ReplyDeleteI'm still taking down Christmas. It seems to take longer, every year.
I usually use a little of it for winter, too. Thanks for the inspiration.
Kim, dear ... as lovely and well thought out as this is, I have no doubt that you will be rearranging and fluffing it in no time. What can I say, you got a knack for this stuff.
ReplyDeletei am admiring your beautiful "winter mantel" while I am still looking at my Christmas mantel.....which I cannot wait to tear down!...Your mantel is perfect....love the "simplistic elegance" .... love how you took it from Christmas to Winter...
ReplyDeleteLove the lantern and natural elements Kim.
ReplyDeleteYour winter mantel looks wonderful. I'm at a standstill on mine. Not sure what I want to do, so at the moment it is left with a simple white container filled with pinecones and two faience vases filled with winter berries. Hopefully inspiration will strike soon. ;-)
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so pretty Kim. Just right!
ReplyDeleteOkay, one of my New Years resolutions is taking the time to leave more notes for my blogging friends! I always read posts in a reader and it makes it hard to leave a comment or two. But I do not miss a post! Love seeing the things you share and your lovely home. I wish I had more time to blog, but I work part time at our local library. I wanted to share with you my new blog, just opened this week.... http://www.brookekroeger.blogspot.com.... it will be for my vingage and digital work... including printables you might enjoy. I also have my home and garden site, http://www.creativecountrymom.blogspot.com. This week I am doing a look back to my spring garden.
Hope to be able to connect more in this new year. I am spending less time on Facebook and gave up twitter and everything else. A girl needs time to create, decorate and GARDEN ya know!
God bless....Brooke

Looking good for winter! I am staring at a blank mantel trying to figure out what I could do with what I have!
ReplyDeleteLove that picture and your leather books!
A perfect wintery look. I love the pinecone, bark and greenery, and I thought the twisty vine was barbed wire at first.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Kim! I love all the the wonderful pieces you brought together...especially those great old trophies...
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely, Kim -- very calm and serene.
ReplyDeleteWell I think your mantle looks beautiful! Love those trophies! I am still hunting for those!

I did the same thing around here this winter...I removed some Christmas things but left out winter items and didn't really add anything else. It is a little bare, but after the holidays...I like it that way.
ReplyDeleteYour mantle looks wonderful. I really like the the twigs around the lantern.
Such a LOVELY vignette, Kim. I always love your fireplace decor. That painting is simply charming.
ReplyDeleteI love the antlers and the twiggy vine. Cute, cute lantern too.
ReplyDeleteWell, you are not fooling me- It looks great but I know that you will change it up in a weeks time (or less!;>) Meanwhile, it is looking just wintry enough! Have a great night- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLooks fresh and wintery and just right Kim! I think you loving cup needs to move to my house and my family of loving cup (I have 11 and need to make it a dozen)!!
ReplyDeleteKelly
Love your winter theme.I love using antlers, never thought I would be using them in decorating. LOL
ReplyDeleteMantles are such fun to stage and play with. Yours looks beautiful. I love the painting.
ReplyDeleteI had to look through the comment list to see if I had been here already or not. I had to do a double take when I saw your lantern with antlers in it! I just did that yesterday on my mantel! And I had not seen yours until now, and I also have a full set that I need to mount and I want to put it above the clock on the wall above my mantel. I see that is what you have done. Oh my. I haven't posted about it yet, but I will soon. Your mantel looks wonderful.
ReplyDeletehugs, Cindy
It looks perfect, Kim....until....
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura

ReplyDeleteHi Kim, You have a way with that mantel of yours! It looks lovely - the trophies are perfect.
ReplyDeleteKim, your mantel looks fabulous! I had the same thought to continue using some of the components of our Christmas mantel. Just looking for the right finishing touch like your vine!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteYour Winter Mantel is gorgeous! Still love that painting... The greenery in the trophy is just the right touch. Very nice!
All the Best,
Christine
Kim, I love your mantel. The trophies and lantern are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Love the trophy and the lantern combo! I also like multiple small trophies when grouped together...especially when they have such great aged patina as yours has....nicely done!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Kim! I was able to leave a lot of my stuff on my shelf in my living room too. It all came together quite nicely this year. Usually I'm thinking 'where is all my decor'!! fun when it comes together well and you love it.
ReplyDeleteFabulous post! I am going to have to come back and look some more when I have a little more time.
ReplyDeleteI think your winter mantel looks very pretty--I especially like the fowl picture and the book stack.
ReplyDeleteYour picture helps to make it look wintery. I will look forward to seeing your Spring and Summer mantles! (Wish I had a mantle - don't get many of them here in tropical Queensland, Australia!). :-)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great~love that vine over the lantern. I don't remember that painting, but I think its wonderful!
