Last week I was in a cleaning frenzy to get this house ready for the Houzz photo shoot. I also got in panic mode before that day and asked my sister to come lend a second set of eyes. She thought everything looked fine and then we made our first trip to Trader Joe's where so many of you get flowers for a good price. I was not impressed with our store, but did manage to find a couple things to use. I didn't think the photographer coming would be do any styling so I wanted to add some flowers here and there. I also had to put any clutter away such as remotes, telephones, and other things we use day to day. It was so nice having the house really straight for that one day. Gosh, if you could see the disarray it is in now since I am working on a new project. I shared a peek yesterday.
I bought some hyacinths and had first placed these in the sitting room, but moved them to the master bedroom.
I also bought tulips and stuck them in this wicker vase that I forgot I had.
Added them to this tray along with a bowl of fruit for some counter styling.
I moved Bailey's food and water bowl from this spot and added the stool. Figured dog bowls counted as clutter.
This bunch of hyacinths was in the sun room for the shoot, but have since been moved. Not wild about the fragrance right next to where I sit all the time.
Now, they sit on the vassillier in the sitting room. They are really pretty since they opened up.
I snapped a shot of Corynne taking the pictures. She was so nice and made the process very easy.
Well, back to my project.
Beautiful sunshine here today.
Hope it is sunny where you are

ReplyDeleteSounded like a very exciting day!
Not only is everything beautiful-I love the smell of hyacinths!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Kim. I cannot wait to see the pictures of my home photographed for a coffee table book. Unlike yours, the designer did some styling on her own. When will your pics be published? Any idea. The book my home is featured in is supposed to be avaiable in the summer. I too love fresh flowers. Most of mine are purchased at Whole Foods.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing this. Everything looks wonderful, Kim!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your home was utterly perfect! I love a clean, clutter free home as well, but rarely get that with 3 little munchkins around. I know I'm miss all that kid-mess when they're grown and gone though =)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Kim, your house is so beautiful that she wouldn't need to do any styling. I went to Trader Joe's last week for the first time. The most impressive part to me was the flowers too. :)

ReplyDeleteFresh flowers are a must, they will always make photos pop I think you made a good choice with the red tulips.
this is thrilling, you must have been so excited and maybe a bit nervous, your home is so lovely you needn't be, but I suppose its human nature, the flowers are lovely, I will admit I don't like the smell of Hyacinths,

Wow Kim - so great to hear about your shoot for Houzz. Hope they tap me one day. I did get a pic of my kitchen in one of their features awhile back - but not the "whole enchilada!" I would need some major assistance if that ever came to pass. I still have a few rooms upstairs that need some help.
ReplyDeleteGood luck - and your house looks great!!
