Yesterday I had plans to paint one little item and I ended up painting three things. You just never know. I know I have a dose of spring fever and I just can't stop freshening some things up.
This is the finished look of the little coffee table in the sun room I worked on.
The table was given to me by my sister when she got our mom's old coffee table. I love that this one is crudely made and the top is old tongue and groove boards.
I was never wild about the gray color I painted it last year so out came my paint and brush.
You can see the line of nails and the poor condition of the wood. This table is in front of me when I am in my chair in the sun room blogging and it was telling me to freshen it up. Yes, my furniture talks to me.
Now, it is happy in its fresher look.
The top still shows all the nail holes and dings still since it was sort of a mini face lift. She didn't want to look over done like Joan Rivers.
It didn't take me long to paint and wax it to achieve this whole new look.
And plain old white looks much better styled with lavender bunches don'tcha think?
The lavender is from Decor Steals and was a really good buy for three large bunches and the smell is divine.
But this is how the table is really styled with this seagrass woven tray from Pottery Barn outlet filled with decor books and
this knotty driftwood.
Oh, and the other two things I painted? They will be shared all in due time.
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint in Old White and Miss Mustard Seed wax.

I love your table either way, but it sure is looking bright and fresh now. The lavender is a perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteso....what's wrong with Joan Rivers face?:)
ReplyDeleteI luv the little table!! I thought it was pretty in the grey as well, but now it's stunning! The nail hoes and imperfections on the top really pop now. I luv that.
ReplyDeleteI am taking in a deep breath... hoping I can smell your awesome lavender.
Hugs, Gee
That is a lovely little table, Kim. So fresh and a very pretty look with the lavender styling. That is just the kind of chunky coffee table I want for our living room, with a planked top. I found a freebie that I am painting for now, but when I find one like this I will sell the current one. Love the seagrass basket with the woven rug too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I think women are all birds at heart - we like to fluff our nests in the spring :)
ReplyDeletexo,
Lisa
Looks good Kim!
ReplyDeleteYou must sleep with a paint brush in your hand!! Amazing how many projects you can get done in a day. I am such a slow to move gal, I stand in amazement at your initiative and creativity!

ReplyDeleteLove the refresh, Kim! LOL at the Joan Rivers comment. I think this was just right and it looks wonderful and fresh white.
ReplyDeleteLOL @Laura at Top This/Top That. Yea, you got something against overly stretched out, hard to recognize faces? :-D
ReplyDeleteI want that table. Its exactly what I have been looking for. I have even been on the look out for a small eating table where I could cut the legs down. Still looking. :-/
I've been painting too but nothing half as interesting as yours. xxoo
Love the painted table Kim, and wow! I love your houzz tour...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh you made it so divine, Kim!
ReplyDeleteWell done.
Grats on being a guest poster, too!
I like it! The lavender looks so pretty against the white, but the basket looks great too. I really enjoyed reading the Houzz article. I felt as if I'd already been to your home, but it was fun to see it all at once. Everything looked gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so pretty! I love white painted furniture and that coffee table looks nice all white. I like how the planked top looks painted. The lavender bundles look pretty with it.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you weren't resting on your "laurels" today after your house tour debut on Houzz! How great you must feel having your home featured and appreciated after all your hard work. I loved reading about the day they came to photo shoot for the tour, that was so interesting...many congrats! Your white table looks terrific of course!

How long ago did you get the basket from PB outlet? I want one just like it and have an outlet in town!

I found your blog a few days ago and have to tell you I just love your home and style! Just beautiful!
ReplyDeletethis is such a great piece. I love it both ways, natural wood top or painted. ha ha, every time I bring up the idea of any type of "face freshening" my husband says he doesn't want to be married to Joan Rivers!
ReplyDeleteI love your table Kim, it looks beautiful white! I am laughing to myself because I just posted about my lamp, I bought ONE Lamp and put it out and have moved 8 lamps so far....... LOLOLOL

ReplyDeleteThat really freshens it all up!! You make it look easy but I'm sure it's just all of your experience!! haha about Joan Rivers!
ReplyDeleteLove the fresh white, Kim! Joan Rivers... Bah ha ha ha ha ha! ROTF! Good one! Man! I totally should have gotten those bunches of lavender from Decor Steals. I stared at them for about 15 minutes before I decided to pass. BAD decisions! LOL! They look wonderful and springy! Have a great weekend, my friend! : )
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteYou are always painting, it makes me laugh, you never stop for a minute. I love this table. I know that lavender is smelling great.

So pretty Kim! Love it. And yes, it looks great with the lavender bunches. Will have to check them out and see if I can find some too. I wonder how many layers of paint are on your most painted piece of furniture? :) Looking forward to seeing the other pieces you painted, and hearing about your milk paint class.
