My Favorite Room....Mom 4 Real

Hi there, Savvy Southern Style peeps! I'm Jessica from Mom 4 Real, and I am so excited to be here sharing my favorite room with you! Usually, I would say that my favorite room in my home is my kitchen, but lately, I find myself drifting towards my living room.  I recently quit my job to be a full time blogger, and have been able to spend a little more time relaxing. When I am not working on a project or redoing a room, this is where you will find me....

Mom 4 Real Foyer
My living room is right off of the entryway of our home. Our home is small and cozy, and I wouldn't have it any other way. When we bought this house, it was in complete disrepair, but I could see little changes that could be made to give it some character and make it ours. One of the easiest and funnest projects I have done was painting and distressing the ugly parquet floors in our foyer. They now have a worn beachy feel, and they are totally unique.

Mom 4 Real Living Room1
I want our home to feel lived in and comfortable, so it's really important to me that everything here is completely expendable. If something gets scratched or dinged, I don't freak out, because everything is a little worn anyway. I want everything to have a bit of a story too. Most of the things in this room have been handmade by myself of passed down from through generations of mine and Matt's families. Everything has a story.

Mom 4 Real Wine Cork Coffee Table
This cork topped trunk was made by my husband in his highschool shop class, and over the years, it has taken a beating. I recently gave it a new top by adding some corks to a salvaged window that I picked up at a thrift shop. It's definitely a favorite of mine, and a great conversations piece.

I love to make pillows, so they are everywhere! We toss them all over the place. With the large open floor space, you can find my daughter and all of her friends sprawled out on our living room floor with loads of pillows tossed about for movie viewing and impromptu slumber parties in the summer.

Monogram With Wine Corks
My mantel is hands down my favorite thing in our home. It's nothing spectacular standing alone, but with the large chalkboard added, it's just different. I like to add little unique items like this cork monogram K that I made. It is so fun to change up for each holiday or season.

I'm not sure about you, but things are constantly changing in my home. Sometimes the couch sits in front of the window, and then the next week, you will find an old chair sitting next to a sweet aqua table there. It just depends on my mood.

I love plants! Especially ferns. My favorites are these little lemon button ferns tucked into julep cups. I'm a Kentucky girl after all, so horseshoes and julep cups are some of my favorite things.

I love the way the sun fills this room. It just makes me smile.

Did I mention my pillow obsession? This is a sweet Kentucky silhouette pillow I made for my sweet roadside find...I'm not sure if you would call it a telephone table or a children's desk, but I painted this sweet piece my favorite shade of aqua, and it fits in perfectly!

So there it is my friends...nothing fancy, just real comfortable living.
Thank you so much for having me, know I adore you!
I hope y'all will come visit me over at Mom 4 Real...I'd love to have you over!
