What do you do when it is raining and stormy out and you had no sleep the night before due to constant lightening and thundering all night loooooooong? Well, apparently I get the hankering to polish my copper collection while still in my pajamas.
I love finding vintage copper molds.
I have never paid a fortune for any of my pieces. I just keep looking for ones without a huge price tag.
Some have been scored at antique malls and some on ebay.
One of my favorites is this rooster mold that I found on ebay and it was very tarnished.
This cider scoop was found at a local antique mall and it is a solid piece.
I have several pieces hanging from my pot rack.
I love the look of tarnished copper, but wanted to see what these look like all cleaned up. Now I will sit back and let them tarnish again.
I am looking forward to a good night's sleep.
Oh, and I used Brasso to clean with.
Loved all your copper...cleaning it was a good thing to do in the middle of the night... Many a night I've gotten up and starting cleaning something... good therapy...

I love copper pots and molds too. That's the French Country in us. With the high price of copper in industry, I'm surprised there are any pieces left at a decent price. You have some really pretty pieces. Hope you get a good rest tonight, I think a lot of us are in for storms.
ReplyDeleteKim, glad you are enjoying them! Love all of your pieces!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love these - those measuring cups are amazing - what a great gift!!

My mother used to collect copper molds and pieces. Hmmm...not sure if she still has them or not. And yes, I too am looking foward to a good night's sleep. The weather radio was going off every 20 minutes last night!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time to sleep is during a storm. It soothes me. Glad you got something accomplished though if you couldn't sleep the copper looks wonderful:)
ReplyDeleteI get a hankering every now and then to polish silver. I guess we all have our little "illnesses!" Teehee. There is something deeply satisfying about seeing all that bright, shiny metal when the job is through! Hope you have a week of good weather.

ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful Kim and that's the best way to collect- not so expensive prices for precious pieces!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you had trouble sleeping. We are looking at a stormy night too, but it just makes me feel cozy and safe to listen to the storm rage on while I'm tucked deep into my covers. :) Your freshly polished brass pieces are lovely. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Great collection...hope you can sleep tonight...
ReplyDeleteThe luster of brass is amazing! You are a very good polisher! LOVE the measuring cups!!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my guilty luxuries is to work around the house until noon in my pj's and drink copious amount of coffee! Hope you sleep soundly!
You have some beautiful pieces, Kim. Hope you sleep well tonight!~~Angela
ReplyDeleteYou've got some great old copper pieces. I spent many hours polishing our old brass bed with Brasso, but I finally wised up and applied car wax to the polished surface. It slows down the tarnishing process quite a bit. I like your copper molds with a bit of patina on them. It brings out the pretty details.
ReplyDeleteVery nice copper pieces.....I do some of my best work in my jammies and even in the middle of the night!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your copper! I just posted about the same thing. Now mine will start to tarnish, too. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the cider scoop so neat, and all the molds and pots are fabulous too I have to get me some vintage copper!

I love copper and my collection started with a copper tea kettle, a gift from my mom many years ago. Like you I look for bargains. I love your collection and how you display them. Thanks for the cleaning tip.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.

So pretty Kim! Guess that's one thing nice about a stormy night...getting caught up on polishing the copper! I usually clean my floors, LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Haha, I never get the urge to polish anything. I wish I had that condition. Your copper collection is stunning!
ReplyDeleteKim, You struck a chord with me on this copper post. I love copper items so much but copper molds have been very hard for me to locate at a reasonable price. I have been lucky to purchase several new hammered copper pieces at a very fair price, but the molds escape me. LOVE your collection. I would appreciate your letting me know of an online find sometime, ebay or otherwise, so long as you are not interested yourself. Have a great day! -Tonya
ReplyDeleteYou have some wonderful copper pieces Kim. I do the same thing...polish them up and then let them patina again.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI love your copper collection! Those measuring cups were a fabulous and generous gift! I had a copper pot collection back in the 80s and I could kick myself for selling them when I moved! Oh well. C'est la vie!
Your copper looks beautiful! My husband bought me a huge copper bowl last time we were in Mexico. It sits on my kitchen island holding my fruit. I LOVE the look of copper! Life to the full! Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle
ReplyDeleteKim, your collection is amazing, love all the molds and that vintage European measuring cup, very neat piece.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Love um Kim. I need to get all the ones my mama sent home with me last Thanksgiving. Thanx for the reminder!:)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Kim! My MIL has some really cute copper stuff, I always want to steal it from her ;) lol.
ReplyDeleteNow that I know about Brasso, I have my work cut out on a large copper rectangular trough-like piece that belonged to my father-in-law. I'm adding its cleaning to my summer-to-do list. Your brass molds collection is marvelous!
ReplyDeletelove the post -- but I hope you weren't standing at the kitchen sink near a window doing this. My husband informed me that we could be struck by lightning inside the house if we're by a window - especially with all that metal & water around.
ReplyDeleteStay safe & enjoy all of your gorgeous shining copper.
I love your copper collection!...It is thundering as I type...this weather has been crazy!...Hope you got some rest after cleaning all that copper!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your copper molds collection, they are wonderful! My favorite is the one with the fleur de lis.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful copper pieces, Kim...such a great look!
ReplyDeleteLots of pretties! Salt and lemon does a pretty ammazing job, cleaning copper!
ReplyDeleteCheers!,
Barbara
Love your hanging copper molds. My mom has a whole collection that was my grandmothers- I'd love to find a home for them in my house at some point. Thanks for sharing, liz
