Do you see my newest painted victim piece? I know I know I can't seem to stop.
I was just sitting there in my chair to your right, where I do my blogging, and the table was just all gray and sitting there being kind of boring. So I had an idea to perk it up with some bold color.
I had been wanting to paint something with Miss Mustard Seed Milk paint in Flow Blue so I ordered some from my sponsor, Robyn Story Designs.
I love this color, but it was a bit too bright with just the paint.
You can see how bright this color is. I decided to mix some milk paint powder in Typewriter with some of the furniture wax to make a black wax.
You can see how the right side is darker after rubbing some of the wax on.
You can also see it here on the base and leg where I started applying the black wax. I had done some sanding before waxing since the paint did not do much peeling.
Here it is back in its spot. I just love this yummy color.
Just in case you need a reminder here is the gray that it was before.
I think I'm feeling Flow Blue.
I hope your day is filled with sunshine. Not so much here.

ReplyDeleteVery cute table, but what caught my eye was the red topped coffee table. I'm getting ready to paint a table and was thinking of the red-white combo. Looks great.

Kim, sweetie, all your rearranging and repainting must make Bailey and your husband dizzy sometimes. I love how the new color on your table makes it pop against your light upholstery and walls.
ReplyDeleteBeing a blue lover, I love the new blue on the table much better than the gray. The dark blue is just perfect for this room. I'm getting more inspired every day to re-do my living room.
ReplyDeleteJudith
Kim, what a wonderful difference this made. It is a much happier color and perfect to pick up the blue accents you have in the sunroom. We like to live with blue here as well. It's in almost every room! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteKim, that table looks great wearing blue!
ReplyDeleteLove your painted table - love the blue! In fact the whole room looks lovely.

oh my! first time commenting and I love your sun porch -- so cozy and airy and bright! the table turned out fantastic. so much richer in blue!
ReplyDeleteYou know I love this room and I'm also very fond of blues. The table looks so pretty and is a lovely contrast. You have a real knack for distressing the pieces too. The grey was nice but much more of a neutral against your new chairs.
ReplyDeleteLove that color Kim! The table looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love the color! Awesome makeover and really gives the table more presence!
ReplyDeleteAngela @ Number Fifty-Three
Love the table in blue in the room with all your other blues.

ReplyDeleteHi Kim, Your sunroom is so fabulous! Love the flow blue from MMS. You have a great eye for color. Thanks for your lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, Kim. I had blue for years and then I kind of got away from it -went with a lot of greens and tans...now I have been flirting with the idea of blue again. lol Life just keeps revolving with the color wheel, doesn't it? I really like how the table turned out. You're right -it was too bright and I like how you toned it down- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteKim, I LOVE that color and all the blue in your sunroom. It looks perfect for summer. The rug and pillows are beautiful too. Enjoy it! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI liked the table in its grey shade but agree that the blue shade has more impact in that room now. Since your rug has a bold blue design, the furniture needs to balance that. I love the colors you've added to that room. It definitely has a summer vibe now.
ReplyDeleteI just love that room.
ReplyDeleteLove the blue too! So pretty!

ReplyDeleteI just got some Flow Blue and am trying to decide what to paint with it? LOVE this table! The dark wax is perfect! I am looking at a lot of my gray pieces and wanting a bit more color myself. Funny how that happens. First I want everything light and neutral, and when I get it that way, I want to add some color :) Life to the full! Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect blue ~ love how it perks up that corner!
ReplyDeleteYes, the flow blue is beautiful on the table!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue and that table came out beautifully! I think your sunroom is great! It's like having a play room that you can redecorate with the seasons without disrupting the rest of the house! SO neat! Hope you getg some sun soon! We've been sun, rain, sun, rain, all in one day's time! Looks like we're in for a week of it. Tornadoes nearby yesterday but noting here so that's something to be thankful for! Seems a bit early for storms like this. Oh well, that's weather! Have a great day! Hugs, Leena

Kim, I just adore your sunroom, I would spend hours in there. Loving this table transformation. You did a great job with darkening the color a bit.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Kim, your sunroom is one of my all time favorites! I wish I had your vision for how to make a painted project look even better than when first started! The table turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteDiane
Love it! What is the color on your walls?
ReplyDeleteIt's the perfect pop of color in your fabulous sunroom!
ReplyDeleteKelly
You are right. It is a yummy color. I had a nice flow blue pottery collection years ago but sold it. Nothing is safe around me! lol
ReplyDeleteThe table is so pretty! I love the custom color and the pitcher lamp! Did you make the lamp yourself?
ReplyDeleteYour sun room is perfect for a 4th of July get-together, with all of its red white and blue! Love the new color on the table, and the look of the room overall. I'll bet it's a great place to unwind.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Oh, I LOVE that blue! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love this room! Do you mind sharing where you found those beautiful club chairs? Also, what color are the walls painted in there? It's a lovely space. Miriam
ReplyDeleteMiriam, the club chairs are from Overstock.com and the paint color is White Sand by Benjamin Moore.
ReplyDeletethanks
Could you share the source of your rug? It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe rug is a Dash & Albert rug bought from their site. dashandalbert.com
ReplyDeleteLove your sunroom! Fresh and cheerful! Where did you get that great pitcher lamp? I've been searching for a lamp with some substance and that certainly fits the bill. If you don't mind telling... spill it, Sista! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe lamp was found at the Pottery Barn outlet last year.
ReplyDeleteThe flow blue table is beautiful. I also love the red top of your coffee table. Very cheerful room!
ReplyDeleteKim, I LOVE your table! Last week I bought a small occasional table from my neighbor's garage sale. Painted it in gray chalk paint and have started to wax it. But I'm not sold on the color yet, so I started painting a garden bench in MMS Typewriter, which I love. Started googling other colors of MMS milk paint and your Flow Blue table popped up. Oh my, how pretty! I may have to redo my table now...my husband will probably look at me funny, but I know you would understand! =) Your table looks great!
