I teach school, and when we get out for summer break, the first place I want to be is outside. The back porch is a good place to cool off and rest when I am working in the yard.
Plus it is a great place for entertaining.

My husband built the dining table using the base from a very old table we had on the deck of our first home. The chairs around it were the first pieces of furniture we purchased as newlyweds.
I like to use fresh herbs in cooking (especially with summer tomatoes), and the porch is right off of our kitchen and dining room. So I mixed geraniums and herbs for the arrangements out there. It really smells good and is handy for adding in dishes.

Like many of you, I believe in the power of paint to inexpensively change the look of a space. This wicker has been sooo many different colors….white, dark green, chocolate brown, black, and now taupe. This latest color has worked well for me because it is such a good neutral that can go through any season with a simple change of throw pillows for a new look.
The little wicker chair was my daughter's when she was young, and the other child’s chair came from Pottery Barn Kids.
And that wraps up the tour of my favorite room – our porch.

Thank you so much Kim, for allowing me to visit with you and your readers here! I hope all of you will drop in for a visit over at Talk of the House very soon.
