See it over there in this old photo? No, not very easily. So I knew lighter was the way to go.
I wanted a worn chippy look so I pulled out my Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Grain Sack.
This table started getting the peeling look pretty good. In fact it started completely coming off and I had to start over on the two sides. Sometimes I get no flaking and other times it all flakes.
This side was still flaking a bit too much so I just waited and then brushed some more paint over the big dark spots. I like the way it turned out. I waxed the whole piece with MMS wax tinted black with the milk paint powder in Typewriter. I love the pretty gray color it made.
I left the drawers in the original finish.
The handles were black so I added some gold guilding paste to them.
Only problem is the chippy goodness on the sides can't be seen. Hmmm, may need to swap something out somewhere.
Have a great Thursday and be sure to come check out my guest blogger's beautiful favorite room tomorrow.
Your table turned out great, Kim! I love the paint color with the drawers left as they were. A great contrast and it really shows up well now! ~~Angela
ReplyDeleteNice lighter and brighter room. You were right... the dark stain did keep the table 'hidden'. Now it calls attention to it's pretty little self.
