One day a couple weeks ago was the first morning that I had seen a pretty sunrise in weeks due to clouds and rain. So when I saw it I threw on some clothes, grabbed my camera and went out to capture some morning beauty, before it all disappeared. No makeup, no hair fixed, just went out like I was. Years ago I wouldn't go out without fixing myself up first, but now that I am much older I don't care as much. I'm sure folks driving by thought there is that crazy lady outside taking pictures again. Our road is quite busy during rush hour.
It is supposed to rain here today again. Seems to be the norm this summer. Wettest summer ever. Only three days without rain all of July and June was very wet.
We spotted a sign by the road the other day that said
"Whoever is praying for rain, please stop"
So true!
Send it this way!!! We are still behind on our rainfall. Beautiful photos, Kim... I LOVE that fern in the gorgeous simple lines of that urn. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteKim, I loved your photos. The chairs by the water...so peaceful. I know what you mean about rain. In the spring , here, it seemed we get rain everytime a front when through...now we need some rain and it's been skipping past. Still there seems to be a big mosquito population. Bummer. Hope you get some nice days to enjoy those chairs by the water.xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI'm inside looking out at another cold rainy day, too. There's nothing so pretty as a sunrise after days of rain. Your lawn and gardens look lovely, probably due in part to the rain. lol!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and beautiful garden!

Beautiful pics!!! Love the fern in the urn....oh, that rhymes!! We have tons of sun and the dreaded heat....
ReplyDeleteGorgeous yard! I am in love with the fern in that urn
ReplyDeleteKim
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you didn't worry about your hair or make-up. The photos are gorgeous.
I especially like the rose kissed with the mornings dew!
Just back from my parents in GA. We were pretty lucky...only got rain in the afternoons. We even had a thunderstorm here in S. Cali. 2 nights ago. That is ODD for this time of year or any time of year really. Very pretty pictures Kim. You captured the beauty between the drops for sure!
ReplyDeleteKelly
p.s. I laughed at your intro as I just walked Emmett all the way to the park this morning very early...I had only brushed my teeth & thrown on some clothes. I thought to myself this getting older is pretty nice...I really don't care if I bump into anyone looking like this! Good 4 us!
What's the deal with the rain? The weather pattern has definitely changed everywhere it seems. I would do the same and grab a camera. Your garden looks lovely--I guess that's the benefit of the rain! Great photos.
ReplyDeleteSomeone prayed for rain in my neck of the woods! It might ruin the car cruise for today. Love your landscaping! The large urns with the ferns are absolutely gorgeous. Live the adirondack chairs next to the pond. Even the spider web has it's own particular beauty. I'm out in my pj's gardening all the time now withous makeup. I don't much care. My pj's are cute and don't necessarily look like pajamas though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Kim. Yes, we are having to get outside while we can. Even my poor garden is screaming for the rain to stop. Feeling a little water logged. Too funny about the sign. I would have to agree at this point however.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful early morning shots, Kim! It was worth it to get out there so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on not "fixing up" before going out. At one time, I wouldn't have considered it. Now, whatever.... Love the photos. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love your pictures - they're full of beauty and serene peace - a true gift.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Such gorgeous pictures, Kim!
ReplyDeleteWe could use some rain here in California. Send it this way!
I hope it doesn't rain during Haven. I'm not used to that kind of humidity! ;)
Have a nice weekend!

Gorgeous Kim!
ReplyDeleteSend some to southwest Oklahoma. We are having a severe draught and under watering restrictions!
ReplyDeleteSend some to southwest Oklahoma. We are having a severe drought and are under very strict watering restrictions!
ReplyDeleteI find I am less apt to apply makeup and worry about my hair now, too. Foundation was the first thing to go!
ReplyDeleteWe've had some good rains in July, which is unheard of here. We had a few years of drought and appreciate our rain this year. You can send yours to the Midwest :)
Lovely photos! I wish you could send the rain here! We are in one of our worst droughts in history and on major water restrictions. My husband and I have lost our second set of new shrubs. Everyone has signs in their yards that read "Pray for Rain"! Crazy how the weather changes....I'm sure it will break with a flood one of these days! :)
ReplyDelete@Tanya, I am in SW Oklahoma as well and I don't know about you but I remember the drought 2 years ago. That's what makes me even more thankful for the unusual rain we have been having lately. At least once a week. There may still be rationing but there is also unseasonable rain!!Everyones lawn is GREEN!! Even in town where my daughter lives and is only allowed to water once a week! Please be thankful and not gripe cause "it still isn't enough"!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous! Was your big urn with the fern a fairly recent purchase? Mine were damaged in a hail storm and I can't find any I like to replace them, but I love the shape of yours!
ReplyDeleteJust love your morning photos Kim! Glad you had a break with the rain. What is it about Adirondack chairs that just say "summer?" Have a great, umbrella free (hopefully!) weekend. Jane
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing pics of your beautiful yard!! Love the chairs by the pond.....so serene :o) It rained here finally and today the weather is absolutely gorgeous even though it is overcast. I have my windows open...in JULY which is unheard of!!!! Have a great weekend!

What pretty morning pictures Kim. It looks lovely around you house. We are cloudy today...no rain yet, but have company coming for dinner and not planning on eating outside, just because it will probably rain.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim. I can appreciate that pretty lawn and the mowing it takes to keep it in this rainy season....but this summer's green is nice too.
ReplyDeleteBreath taking! And honey I am with you on the rain - end the monsoon season now!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, your gardens are picture perfect! May I ask if you have a solid edging or do you use an edger??? I am still in love with those huge urns. The pictures are beautiful, thanks so much for sharing. Hope you get some SUN soon!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteYour photos (and garden) are just lovely!! you can send the rain to us, btw....Texas is HOT and DRY!
ReplyDeleteThe images are beautiful Kim! We are having Fall temps and enjoying it so much. Not our typical July weather. We are so optimistic we have planned a little day excursion for one day next week...rain or shine.:-) Loving this different sort of weather.
ReplyDeleteKim, the joy of living in the country means that I can go out in my pajamas and walk through the garden with my coffee, or with my camera. Yes, the neighbors can see, but they're far enough away and I just don't care.
ReplyDeleteYou know Knock Out roses get to be 6-7 feet tall, right? Fortunately, it's not too hard to keep them cut back ... though it will get to be more of a chore as the roses mature. Just thought you should know.
such a beautiful time of the day. the rain has really made your garden so lush and lovely! weren't you guys in a drought last year?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Kim! I feel the same way about wearing makeup.Years ago I would not be caught out anywhere without it.But now there are times that I just don't care. When my daughter goes to school in the morning and I drive her is a perfect example. It has rained allot here too and today it's only in the 50's what the heck!

Kim, I laughed at your comment. I think my neighbors must think the same...I am always walking the neighborhood with my camera getting photos of flowers, mushrooms, trees, bark, clouds and more.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful! I love the fern!
Have a great weekend, Elizabeth
Puuuuullllleeease can I come over and sit on those chairs! It looks like pure peace! Well maybe you can win something pretty as well to keep the theme up! We have a giveaway going on over at Wonderful at Home, so stop on by: www.wonderfulathome.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSee you again soon!
We had the wettest spring on record here, and now that it's July it hasn't rained once. The grass is starting to turn brown, it's so dry.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty pics. Love that spider web and the ferns (oh, how I miss my ferns from East TX) and those lush flowers. I'm sure folks wonder about me outside staring up into the trees looking for a bird too.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Beautiful pictures! We had a dry day today here in Alabama, too!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are gorgeous Kim, as is your landscaping. Well, except for the sp*der. I don't do them in any shape or form. Oh, and I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I just realized you changed the font on your watermark. I like it. Thanks for the lovely views. Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Well if you have ever wondered what it would be like to live in an area like Seattle, now you know. Your garden looks like it is loving all the water. Let's hope that August will be the best month.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I'm sure everyone driving by enjoys seeing your lovely property! Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteLove that spider web shot!
ReplyDeleteThe yard looks wonderful....it definitely shows the fruits of your labor!!!....the deer are eating my knock out roses..the garden center says they don't eat them....so I shall revert back to what my builder says..."the only thing that they do not eat is concrete".....the pond looks so beautiful and serene...The rain has been good to your plants!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful photo's!
Great photos! Don't you just love summer mornings~Jennifer
ReplyDeleteThe pond and chairs is too gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI wish the scientists would figure out a redistribution of the excessive rain so that drought stricken areas could get some of it. If they can get oil and gas from under the ocean, how can it be that hard?
lol at the roadside sign. We had non-stop rain here from mid-June to mid-July and like you, we were seriously happy to see the sun again. Your pictures are gorgeous, my fave is the reflection of the chairs in the water.
ReplyDeleteMary
Good morning, Kim!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Looks like a great day ahead! We can always use rain here in California, so tell the rain gods to come visit us instead!
Cheers!, Barbara
Oh Kim, I'm that crazy lady too! I go out in the am and again at sunset, snapping away at landscape pictures, seeking the terrific light and effects. You got some great shots! I'm enjoying the rain for the simple fact of not having the obligation of container watering each day! Every cloud has its silver lining. ;)
ReplyDeleteRita
Feels like fall here. Temps in the 70s are perfect. Love your morning pictures, and like you I no longer worry about running out in the morning without my makeup. XO Laura
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I love how plants look in the early morning with dew on them! The colors just seem so pure and vibrant! Don't worry what the neighbors think. Mine have seen me out at the break of dawn wandering around looking for goodies I the trash! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely garden-you must be so proud-love deex
ReplyDeleteGorgeous landscaping - I assume this is all in your yard and if so, you're as fantastic decorating the outside as the inside.
