First let me say thank you so much for making my paint choice for the main body of the house easier. Natural Linen no Manchester Tan. Darn, still not sure.
The sitting room was painted by Mr. Savvy and me a few weeks ago. I had a bit of a problem choosing a new color for this room, too. At first I was leaning towards grays and green blues, but they were just all off. Then I emailed my blogging bud and designer extraordinaire, Sherry of Design Indulgence, and pleaded for her help. She immediately sent me some new colors to try and I did go buy about four samples, but they still weren't quite right. I then went back to the paint store and the next darker color, on the paint chip with a color that Sherry mentioned, I thought would be perfect. So without buying the sample and just going for it I brought home the new paint and got to work.
Say hello to Wheeling Neutral by Benjamin Moore. Strange name.
Goodbye Roxbury Caramel. Just too butterscotch with the chocolate sofa.
Lots of holes were patched, but the correct ones for the gallery wall were left. Didn't want to make a bunch of new holes. :)
I didn't make a lot of changes in here. I just wanted a new neutral wall color. I think the gallery wall looks much better against this new color.
This end table was updated and will be shared in another post.
The leather cushion on this chair was in really bad condition from fading and miss Bailey had actually scratched a small hole in the leather. This brown slipcover......
......was actually made for this chair cushion when I had the sofa slipcovered. I was looking at the size of the two cushions and took it off this chair and put it on the leather chair.
It was a perfect fit and a match made in heaven.
Notice something else new?
I replaced the very old, stained, and dirty silk dupioni drapes from Pottery Barn with these more casual grain sack striped ones from Country Curtains. The rod was also lowered since it was hung wrong before.
Even the equestrian sign looks better with the new color.
I have already tweaked this part of the vaisselier. I added the other trophy that I had placed on top. I wanted it where I can enjoy it better.
Ah, loving the fresher feel in this room.
Now, I must go get the paint for the painters who are coming tomorrow.
So glad I don't have to paint this time.

Oh, and Bailey likes the new color, too.

Great makeover! I love the new wall color, Kim! I really brightens the room.
ReplyDeleteLove the new color, Kim. And the cushion switch is genius. Looks like the chair and cushion were made for each other. Has a sort of RL look...which I love!

Kim.....beautiful! I have used Wheeling Neutral before...it is a great color. Paint is such a miracle worker. It freshens up a space so much and I love how your den looks now. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThe room looks awesome!!!...Love the color and the new drapes are perfect!...I attended a class by Sherry at Haven last year and she is wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the new color, so soft and relaxing. Your room looks gorgeous. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThe chair cushion swap is genius. Now I'm looking around my house at all the chairs! I also love how you said you were placing things where you could "enjoy them more." Isn't that what we need to do? Slow down and enjoy it all.
ReplyDeleteLovely.
Ahhh, nothing like fresh new paint ~ fabulous color! So smart to ask Sherry! :)
ReplyDeleteI love how something as simple as paint can transform a room. It looks lovely Kim, and I liked all of your paint choices, so I'm sure the Linen will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKat
It's lovely - fresh and calm, at the same time. I like it!
ReplyDeleteOh, Kim! It looks fantastic!! I love how it lightens and brightens the room! Super love it and I know you have to be enjoying it! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new color and your new drapes, Kim! I'll have to keep this one in mind since we still have to paint here and I know I want to go just a tad darker than what is already on the walls.
ReplyDeleteKim...I love the new color...it looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love this new color, it brightens up the room! Yesterday I was painting my bedroom and you came to my mind while doing all that painting. Have fun just giving orders tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new color, Kim! I love how changing paint can change the look of the whole room! Fabulous!!~~Angela
ReplyDeleteOh, picking a color can be hard. You did good! It looks so fresh and pretty. Love all the little tweaks and changes. The curtains are wonderful. Looking gorge Kim!!
ReplyDeleteYou picked well, Kim. Your room looked great before but you are right that this colour works better with your sofa and art. Great luck on the slip fitting (I actually really like leather/fabric sofa combos.) The new curtains are very pretty and I especially like the makeover on the end table (it's all these little things that really bring your look together so beautifully.)
ReplyDeleteOh, forgot to mention that Wheeling Neutral is our bedroom colour and I love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the Wheeling Neutral, love it! When I was in the planning stages of remodeling my home i had all the color ideas whirling around in my head and keeping me up at night! A neutral background never entered my mind. About that time my friend built a new home in an exclusive neighborhood in Fort Worth. When I walked in there was a feeling of calm and serenity. Her entire house was painted in Manchester Tan...trim and all! Now my entire house is painted Manchester Tan and I don't think I will ever be tired of it. I am more of a textiles type of person so it is easy to change the feel with rugs, drapes, pillows etc. You are going to love your new color, it's very pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Kim and I love your new drapes.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful and I like those grainsack curtains! :)
ReplyDeleteYou should be doing this for a living, you would be RICH! beautiful, all of it. Every detail!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The color is absolutely perfect and so much fresher. Also, those curtains are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThat color looks very nice in there. Why don't you just use that color for the other rooms too? It looks like it would flow nicely and be a nice backdrop to the same colors you have in the other rooms (browns, reds, blacks, golds and greens).
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely! Very fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the new color. I have samples of Manchester Tan for my wall but this looks even lighter, which I prefer because my dining room has NO windows, it is in the middle of the house. I will have to get a sample and see I like this better than Manchester Tan, I sure like it on your walls. PERFECT.
ReplyDeletePerfect choice Kim, love it!!
ReplyDeleteLove the new wall color.....just perfect!! Your new drapes are so fabulous too. Would love to see a whole shot of the windows :o)

ReplyDeleteI think the new wall colour looks great and your home is just gorgeous! take care, maryann
ReplyDeleteI think you made a good choice Kim. It looks cozy and warm but not dark. We actually have that paint in our bedroom. ;) One of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this new color and I'm pinning it for future use. I kept seeing this new wall color in your posts and at one time thought it might be a gray-blue. It's the perfect choice and makes that wonderful brown velvet even yummier!
ReplyDeleteI really like the new color, Kim. I think it is so much brighter now...and the gallery wall pictures really POP now. Great job- all summery now! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love it! I'm going to get my BM paint deck and look it up now!

Kim I adore the new paint color!! Just the perfect color for a backdrop. I too have some yellow-y walls in my home. Rather than paint them, of course I'm just moving, ha! But seeing your gray walls makes me all excited to see my furniture in my new house with my new gray walls!!
ReplyDeleteThe new paint color looks wonderful, Kim!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful new paint color Kim!!! I love it!! It perfectly compliments and enhances the decor - I continue to adore all the equestrian accents in this room {happy sigh}!!! Thank you for sharing your makeover!
ReplyDeleteOh love the new color, it feels so fresh!
ReplyDeleteGreat color Kim! I love how the room looks now!

The color is great, and I just love Miss Bailey! Every time I see her in a picture, I just smile:)
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic Kim. Lots of hard work you have going on over there. You can come by mine when your finished!~:)
ReplyDeleteI loved your sitting-room before, but I must say this new lighter colour is even more flattering, especially for your gallery wall and your buffet.
ReplyDeleteLove love the new paint color Kim!! I just bought another pair of the French Ticking curtains in the same color for my sitting room, I love them!
ReplyDeleteI'm cracking up at your last comment. Since I've been reading your posts backwards this morning. Poor Kim.... :) In any case, I just wanted to say that I DO love the new paint color in here much better than the older one. It was very cozy before, and not a room that I would turn down, but this new look is so fresh and clean feeling. Great choice!
