I have shown y'all the new look of the great room, foyer, and stair landing since painting the walls the new color. There was one last change.
After painting I wasn't going to put anything under this plate rack since I moved the chest to the great room, but then a light went on in my head and I grabbed the large vintage basket on the bottom from the guest room and the smaller one from the master.
I love these old baskets stacked.
Before with chest and old paint color. This is the chest I moved to the great room.
I switched up a few pieces of the ironstone borrowing some from the china cabinet in the dining room.
The large basket on the bottom was found in a shop in Amelia Island, Florida many years ago. The owner said it was a vintage hamper from Provence. You can see how it is made with sticks and wire.
I must have been into patina years ago without even thinking about it. I purchased this before I even knew to love French country style.
I think this is still my favorite ironstone piece with all the crazing and a chip here and there.
The smaller basket was bought at Scott Antique Market in Atlanta last year. The strap is broken, but that is fine with me. The price was good.
Somehow ironstone and wicker just go together and it all looks better with the new wall color.
I took this picture of miss Bailey while I was shooting the other pics. She loves laying in the morning sun on the back of the sofa in the sitting room.
Have a super week!
I agree, ironstone & wicker just go together! It looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love those baskets! I have two similar, but they don't stack well...yours are perfect!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes... they do go together nicely!
ReplyDeleteHaving a wee attack of basket envy though. They are perfect stacked and under the ironstone.
Happy new week.
Gee
I thought the chest looked fabulous, but oh those baskets!!!!! Beyond wonderful. Jane
ReplyDeleteI think the wicker baskets are truly better there than the chest before. It's so unique and definitely beautiful pieces that deserve to be displayed more! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your stacked baskets! That little hallway has a lot of charm now.
ReplyDeleteI love it Kim! The baskets have texture and warmth and look so pretty underneath the plate rack. The dresser 'before' was too... expected? The dog pic in the end makes me want to curl up on the couch :-)

Gorgeous ! Love the paint color and the stacked baskets !
ReplyDeleteThat looks great, love it! I also love the pictures of Bailey on the back of the sofa. Our cats do the same thing to our family room sofa, I don't think they ever let the dogs up there though.

Miss Bailey sure is cute! My pups (seniors) like basking in the sun on the back of the sofa too. Love the new wall color and I really love the color of your shelf. It looks great with the ironstone. My mom had a few of those baskets and I should have taken them when she passed away but I was too grief stricken to think about it. I love how your baskets look under the shelf. It's nice to shop the house and change things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love, LOVE thse baskets!!! I used to collect baskets and had a LARGE collection but nothing vintage:( I have been searching for some large lidded baskets for storage too. Good thing I don't live close by:):) I love the new color and the wicker/ironstone combo is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteVery pretty Kim. Looks very pretty with the Ironstone!
ReplyDeleteI liked the look before, but it's even better now with the baskets. An image that I hope to see in a magazine one day!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a young woman I was partial to the look of pine or baskets like that against a light colored or white wall. I still love that look.
ReplyDeleteIronstone and wicker are truly the perfect combination. Your baskets are stunning and look amazing where you've placed them!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those stacked baskets! You have given me some ideas for my own house...Life to the full! Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle
ReplyDeleteLove the new wall paint. It makes for a great backdrop for your beautiful vignettes.
ReplyDeleteYou show how easy it can be to create a new vignette by shopping the house and rearranging. And, a fresh coast of paint is a great way to redecorate.
ReplyDeleteYour baskets look great there! The ironstone in the open cupboard is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the shelf color and miss bailey is always so darn cute
ReplyDeleteKim- I love the texture the baskets add to that space!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think it could get any prettier than the chest, but I was wrong. Love the baskets. :)
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have put that picture of Bailey at the end! She's so cute I forgot all I wanted to say about how lovely the ironstone looks against the soft colour of the shelves!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWhere did you purchase your plate rack?
Bought it many years ago at an antique mall and don't even have it anymore.
