I had a few things on my short list to find and I did find all those things except one.
The main thing on my list was a French farm table and boy did I find a beauty.
Just look at those beautiful chunky legs. just excuse the dust
Look how thick the top is.
She has a wonderful old drawer in both ends with an iron handle.
Vendu means sold in French. Yep, VENDU to me!
Oh, and it comes with a leaf that attaches at each end which is very rare. So this baby will seat 12.
This beauty wasn't on my list, but when I saw her I couldn't stop staring. This was in the same store.
Just look at her scrumptious inlaid top and those little buckles don't bother me at all. It just shows she is old and has developed a few wrinkles like me.
Love her scalloped skirt. So dainty and pretty.
And another "sold" sticker. Mine all mine.
This large buffet wasn't on my list, but it was gorgeous and an unbelievable price. It is 44" tall by 51"wide. This picture does not do this piece justice. This was in a huge place stocked full of furniture and accessories and smalls of all types. I could have spent hours in here.
I also wanted a few confit pots and I found two like this one and much better prices than here. Of course I do understand why things are priced the way they are here now. By the time you figure in shipping and mark up for profit they do get pricey.
A couple of demijohns were purchased and they are called demijohns as our hosts did confirm. This amber color is a little harder to find and this one is huge.
This chair wasn't on my list, but I loved its shape and it is quite sturdy and comfy to sit in. I don't know why chairs jump out at me. This will replace the one that I could never get shipped that I bought in Connecticut last October.
Alain took us by an auction house where we could place bids on any items we saw. I placed a bid on this lot of two dog paintings and WON!
At the end of our visit in Normandy we went by Alain's warehouse where we gathered
all our smalls together. This is my stash on the table.
I have some missing photos of a large scale with a marble top, a nice balance with all the weights, two long benches, a couple grain sacks, vintage hand towels and some very old pharmacy bottles.
I am probably forgetting something, too.
Now, I am just waiting for the stuff to ship and the boat to come in.
When our stuff arrives at the port in Charleston, S.C. it will mean a trip to Charleston.
I love Charleston so another trip is no problem at all.
:)

You definitely got some great things in France...and thanks to our great hosts Cat and Alain for always being there to give us advice and negotiate for us....the table is going to look spectacular in your breakfast room...can't wait to sit at it and have a cup of coffee...reminiscing about our trip!!!...Can't wait for Charleston too!!!...:)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - Kim you went to town! Those are lovely purchases. Half the battle is getting things safely packed and shipped, so you were fortunate. I can't wait to see it all in situ.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous items that you bought, Kim. If the patina of the farm table is half as pretty in real life as it is in the photo it will be a stunner. The wait may seem long but you will have lots of time for finding spots for everything.
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering what you bought. Now...you know...you can't paint these things. ha! I love Charleston too...that is a great trip to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteHa, I have to laugh, that was my first thought too.......you can't paint these things!!! Great finds....love the table!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, you SCORED, Kim! I can't wait to see all of your *new* French goodies in their new home!
ReplyDeleteLove the table with the chunky legs and you've inspired me to look for one in the Antique European store, where I buy some great stuff! You also made me smile wnen you said: "I'm not good at waiting" I'm not good at that too and so I manage to get what I want the quickest I can, lol.. I love your finds! Hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
My fav are the legs on that farm table, love those - and that amber demijohn. Everything is going to look great when you get it home, and I say shop in Charleston too!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking forward to seeing the treasured goods you purchased. No disappointment her. They are all lovely. Love those demijohns and the farm table.
ReplyDeleteWow! You found A LOT of stuff! I forsee a major truck needed to take to Charleston to retrieve it all. I love all of the furniture pieces you found. I bet you've been deciding on what you're going to part with in your home to make room for all of these lovelies. You will cherish those pieces since they came from overseas, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteYou did have some fun, Kim! I'm looking forward to seeing how you use all of those wonderful pieces in your home!
ReplyDeleteI see wood...lots of beautiful wood! My goodness what scores! Gorgeous wood:-)
ReplyDeleteSWOON Kim, what wonderful finds! Can't wait to see everything arranged!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with both tables too Kim! Soo gorgeous!!!!Your a real serious shopper, I hope you'll give us tips as to how we can save on shipping and how to ship etc. when your in a foreign country! I've never bought anything so big from abroad, but if it's reasonable, I might do it too! Thanks for sharing your great finds again Kim and hope to hear about the 'technical' aspect of buying abroad soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, I loved it all. Sitting here drooling. While you are here in Charleston, I can give the the name of a great antique store in town. The owners go abroad and bring containers of French and English antiques back. I have several pieces from the store. Again great buys.
ReplyDeleteSandy
I bet it's hard to wait!! I look forward to seeing the two long benches. Those piqued my curiosity ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd be standing at the dock waiting for the ship to come in! It will be just like Christmas when your things arrive. Fabulous French finds!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you really did find some fabulous treasures. I love them all. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of wonderful purchases, Kim. Where are you going to put your farm table?
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
The French farmhouse table is gorgeous!! Can't wait to see it in your home.
ReplyDeleteIt's just amazing the numbers of things you found in one trip. I'm in love with that side round table and wish I had seen it before you did!!! I have a thing for armchairs especially those like the one you found, that we call "fauteuil de grand-père" (grandpa's chair).
ReplyDeleteCharleston is one of our favorite places and a yearly place to visit for us. In fact, I would rather go to Charleston than France! The shipping ports are very interesting.
ReplyDeleteNow you will have to do some entertaining with that new table!
Love your finds and I think the farm table is my very favorite!
ReplyDeleteAll so pretty Kim! Love Charleston, it will be so much fun to visit as YOUR ship comes in!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
All your purchases are gorgeous! Love the tables.
ReplyDeleteKim you found so many great things! I am so excited for you! Will this be a yearly thing, going to PAris to take int he sights and then buying fabulous things?
ReplyDeleteI love your new hair color!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteYou scored some great french items. That farmhouse table oh my!!!! That is just gorgeous. I hope it ships soon and gets to you quickly. Wooooo Hooooo all your things are lovely.
Kris
I'm happy for you Karen on all your fabulous finds..especially the table. If there's one thing I've learned and that is when I buy what I love (no matter the price) there's never any regrets...and the personal value and pleasure it brings is irreplaceable. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteRita

ReplyDeleteWow, you sure found some beautiful things! They'll be wonderful reminders of your trip and all the fun you had :)
ReplyDeleteOH*MY*GOSH !!!
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is hanging opened here. I am trying to nudge the little green monster off my shoulder :-)
Such beautiful treasures Kim. Looking forward to seeing them in your luvly home.
Hugs, Gee
Wow, you did so well! I love everything you bought, which is why it's a good thing I wasn't with you, because we may have had to duke it out! How fun it will be when they all arrive. And it will be fun to see how you use them in your home!.
ReplyDeleteThat farm table is awesome, as are the demi-johns & confit pot. I just bought a green demi-john that has dimpled glass just like that, so it makes me wonder if mine is from France. I know you must hate the thought of going to Charleston to pick that stuff up! ((NOT!)) And my husband thought I was crazy for going back down to Alabama to pick up a piece of furniture...glad I'm not the only one. I don't know how you stand the wait!
ReplyDeleteyou must be antsy waiting for all these goodies to get over here. I'm excited to see what you have planned for that fabulous table!!
ReplyDeleteYou found some gorgeous pieces! I wish I could go now and do shopping! When I was 30 and living in Europe, I definitely didn't think about getting beautiful pieces like that! I cant' wait to see them all in your house! Too bad I am not in Charleston! We could have met up!
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over here. That table is a stunner, and seating for 12 is beyond fantastic. I don't know how you had the will power to leave anything behind. I can't wait to see it styled up in your home.
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I'm choking with envy. Everything is so fabulous. I think my faves are the dog prints (I love those!), the lovely chair, and the inlaid table. The farmhouse table is exceptional, too! You lucky duck!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful purchases, Kim. Can't wait to see photos of them in your home. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful treasures you found! I can't wait to see how you use them in your home!
ReplyDeleteYep, this is what I been waiting for! Love all your purchases. My daughter has been to France, lived there one summer, but I have never been :(
ReplyDeleteI love everything that you got Kim. I can't wait for you to get them and show us where they will be in your home!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!!! I am loving all your purchases- that table is beautiful!!! Can't wait to see them in your home- they will be perfect! What a dream trip to France!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, You made some wonderful purchases! We have such similar tastes, which is probably why I keep coming here! You'll enjoy all of these goodies and they will remind you of a wonderful trip! Now, as far as Charleston, is concerned, I've only been there in July. It was so humid and hot, that I couldn't move! I'm sure fall and spring are wonderful there!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Barbara
I like the 2nd mantel better, too, but they are both pretty & fall-ish. I was in Home Goods this morning & saw the prettiest cream & indigo (betw/ a royal and navy) buffalo checked wool throw that reminded me of you. If I had room on my phone, I would have taken a picture to send you....it had your name all over it.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, you scored BIG! I love that farm table especially - so gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you did with all your finds Kim.
ReplyDeleteMarie@InteriorFrugalista
Hi Kim, You really bought a lot - how exciting! I'm looking forward to seeing where it all ends up and I'm sure it will all be beautiful. Sorry we have to wait.
ReplyDeleteMy husband would like to "NOT" thank you right about now. Ever since you had said you were going I told him it was on my bucket list as well. I'm going to Normandy next summer to see my grandfather's grave there, he died in WWII and I will be first of family to visit. My daughter graduates high school in June and a 3 week trip to Europe is her present...but I want to go do what you did separately LOL if I can. What a dream come true and those goodies are FABULOUS..can't wait to see pics of them in your house..you totally scored!
ReplyDeletehugz,
Suzanne
OMG Kim, I wasn't going to leave a message since I know you get so many and didn't think you had time to read them all, but these items are so fantastic!! That table is going to look gorgeous in your home and that amber demijohn is unreal!! What things you scored over there. Good for you!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
The color of the wood on your pieces is gorgeous! I just love the look of it all!
ReplyDeleteSherry
What a fantastic haul. I love the confit pots and the demijohns.. The farm table is beyond words - love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that table!!! I am heading to Ireland tomorrow and hope I find some great things there!

ReplyDeleteYour new table is gorgeous and I can't wait to see your "smalls" find their places in your home. Sounds like you had a wonderful (and productive) time!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness Kim, the table is beyond gorgeous and well worth the trip in and of itself. I would not bother with a shopping list. Buy what you love.
ReplyDeleteKim...you scored some really beautiful pieces that will be in your family forever. What fun it must have been shopping over there! Jealous.
