With my daughter hosting Thanksgiving this year she was wanting to make sure she has enough seating for everyone while they are sitting around and waiting to eat. She has had this pair of black bar stools a few years and was just tired of the black. So of course she asked me if "we" could paint them.
I told her to bring the stools up and we would work on them together. So last Saturday she arrived with the stools and Leila in tow. We started painting them with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and I almost forgot to get before shots. So this is after I thought about that. That is Leila's foot in the picture as she was dancing around in her Sophia the 1st dress.
I worked on one stool and she worked on the other one. We had painted two coats and then my daughter had to leave to go watch the UGA football game at her sister in law's. Uh, oh, okay. Well, we still need to do one more coat since we are doing white over black.
No, problem Mom will finish them.
No, problem Mom will finish them.
After the third coat they were just kind of boring. I had not previously planned on doing this, but decided on a whim that they need a little something extra. So out came the frog tape.
I grabbed my can of ASCP in Graphite and painted on some stripes.
So after three coats of paint and two coats on the stripes, sanding, waxing, and buffing I love the results.
I made the stripes on each stool a little differently since they are painted like a grain sack and none of those are the same.
Edges were distressed.
And when my daughter picked them up on Monday she was very pleased with them.
Yep, for my daughter,
with love.
My grandson, Joshua, is 2 years old today! He is the youngest of my four grand kids. My they grow up fast. We will be paying them a visit this weekend.
Happy Birthday, Joshua!

ReplyDeleteLove, love them…the stripes just made those stools!…so, would you adopt me?
ReplyDeleteThose look so good. They remind me of the table you painted for your sunroom. I like how they look different now instead of a standard barstool. Btw, your blog posts are still not updating on my blog roll! It still shows the one with Leila's party from several days ago. Isn't that weird?
ReplyDeletethe stools look terrific, well done, so much hard work I know, but the results are certainly worth it!! Hugs P.S. happy belated birthday to your grandson P.p.s...I hope you will share this at my hop today

the stools turned out just darlin' kim! I know all about those "we" projects with my daughter. i'm supposed to go "help" her with some major updates in her bedroom tomorrow but i'm sure we'll have a long break watching the Auburn game at 11:30...then she'll be too tired to finish "helping" me!
ReplyDeleteyour little grandson is sooo cute! have a great visit with him.
Kim, I love how you put the word "we" in quotes! Most of us understand that totally! No wonder she was happy with the stools because they are gorgeous after you put your special touch on them! Have a wonderful time celebrating your grandson's birthday!
