Well, Christmas may have officially been on the 25th, but my Christmas came on the 26th. I have been waiting since September for this day and my French antiques finally arrived. If you follow me on instagram or facebook then you already know how exciting this day was.
The truck driver asked me if we had any bolt cutters? Why yes, I always carry those in my purse. Not! The bolt above had to be cut to open the container. Luckily one of the guys helping us unload went and got a pair close by.
Lots of boxes were wrapped and sitting on pallets attached to the bottom of the container.
The truck driver let us go ahead and put everything straight on a trailer instead of in the warehouse and then the trailer.
My table.
Thank goodness for these strong guys with good backs.
My huge buffet.
And I got a pair of benches.
I unpacked everything after it was in the house and it took me all day. I had to clean each piece as they were all covered in dust and grime. The farm table has replaced the yellow one and I love it, but it will take some time to adjust to the new look. I don't know about y'all but once something has been in place for years and it gets changed it looks a bit off at first. It is growing on me though. I think I may order another pair of the red buffalo check panels and replace the burlap ones. I need some more color.
Shirley and her husband came Friday night to pick up her things and on Saturday after breakfast her stuff was loaded into their van. Then we played house a bit in my house and then they were on their way home. Her hubby threatened to leave her if she didn't come on.
Now I need to put away all the Christmas decor.
Remember Monday night we will have the Wow Us Wednesdays party since it falls on New Years and it will be for y'all to share your 2013 top projects so get those ready and share them here.
I'm looking forward to it.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I can't wait to see everything, Kim. Do you order your buffalo check curtains lined or go with unlined? That is my first 2014 project for the breakfast room and hearth room. Buffalo checked panels.
ReplyDeleteI have my top projects post up and going. I didn't think we did that much this year, but we did do several small projects.
Can't wait to see everything together. Where is the yellow table going? <--Just being nosy. =)
ReplyDeleteI agree about the red checked curtains. They were beautiful in your kitchen. I am glad you getting another pair!

ReplyDeleteYeah!!! I can't wait to see it all put together in your home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thrill it must have been to see that container! Whenever I am in Europe I dream about shipping a load home - so tempting. It's good to see that someone actually did it!

How exciting!! I cannot wait to see all your goodies. I know what you mean by new items... I am having such a difficult time in this move with all my stuff... it fit so perfectly in my last home just does not seem to gel here... I moved things around a dozen times...lol.. Eventually, I hope I can get it right. Enjoy all your beauties.. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic delivery! I can't imagine how much fun that trip must have been!
ReplyDeleteVery exciting! Whenever I've gone to Europe, I pretty much only buy what I can carry home on the plane. What a fool I've been! Can't wait to see all of your pieces and how you're using them in your home. I know exactly what you mean about getting used to new things. I once bought an expensive, custom-made wall unit, and cried when it was delivered. After about a month, I LOVED it and it was one of my favorite pieces.
ReplyDeleteFrance comes to the USA!...I can't wait to see all the pieces in place.
ReplyDeleteRita
I want to go to France and find antiques! How exciting, can't wait to see everything in its place!

Kim, this is so exciting for me to see that I can only imagine your excitement! Hurry and show us where you've put everything!
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely exciting, I hope you have everything all settled into its new place and take some lovely photos for us to see.
ReplyDeleteI received my first DSLR for Christmas, a Nikon D7100 and hoping to be able to take lovely photos like you do for your blog but as yet struggling with my interior shots, although I have some lovely ones of my little Schnoodle, Poppy. How do you get light into your interior images without over exposing, do you shoot manual or auto? I have so much to learn and finding it very frustrating at the moment knowing nothing :(.
I had hoped to go to France this year but due to a big problem with my eyes sadly couldn't make it, I am hoping 2014 might be an improvement as I would love to bring some antiques back.

I feel your excitement!!! And can't wait to see everything in place. Where will the yellow table go?? Love that set and the yellow chairs. And so glad the red check will return!!! Enjoy.....
ReplyDeleteI am exactly like that - proclaiming I don't like something that has been moved, then I live with it for a while and usually I like it in the end..... but not always and I move it back!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been so exciting! Can't wait to see everything in your house.
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited to see your new antiques!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting way to start your New Year! You will be busy cleaning, arranging, accessorizing, styling, and painting... oh wait, did I say paint?!! Just kidding. It will all be good and I am anxious to see!
