Well, before I continue with anymore holiday decorations I thought I would share a big change in the great room. Bye bye ceiling fan!!
Hello, gorgeous!
I have been wanting to replace the ceiling fan for some time now and finally found a chandelier I like at a good price. I work hard for my money, yes blogging is hard work, but fun, and I ordered this beauty from Lighting Direct. When it arrived the box was in really bad shape, but thank goodness the chandy is alright.
Mr. Savvy usually does all our electrical changes, but this time he didn't want to tackle going up this high so we hired electricians to do it. They had it done in no time.
This chandy is very similar to the one in the dining room, but larger since this room is much bigger. I also bought the one in the dining room.
I stood on the catwalk on the second floor to get these closeups.
Mr. Savvy was looking up at it from his favorite chair and asked what the black spots were on it. Uh, distressing, dear. Of course he should know that by now. Oh, gosh I see more styrofoam pieces on the their. I think it will be raining little white balls forever.
Much better don't ya think?
I will be back tomorrow morning with another festively decorated room.
Enjoy your Sunday,
Perfect:) Looks great Kim!!
ReplyDeleteI like chandies in every room even in the bathroom. It is so simple and so elegant :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Kim! I've been wanting to do the exact same thing. We never use our fan and it looks like very outdated. Such a simple and pretty update!
ReplyDeleteI love it Kim! We rarely use the ceiling fan in our living room, and would like to replace it with a chandelier too.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to replace the ceiling fan in our living room, but I don't think we could do without it in our hot summers. :) Your chandy looks beautiful! It's neat how something like that can change the whole look of a room. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteIf only men were as smart as women, they would know chandeliers are much better than ugly ceiling fans. My husband clings to having the ceiling fans we have...in every room except the kitchen! yuck. Your lights are exactly what I have picked out for when the hubs comes to sanity.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, I just love that style!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe had to replace our dining room overhead light and i so wanted a chandelier. But, our little cottage is so small and all of the chandys we saw would overwhelm the room. I guess I have to get my fix by looking at yours.
Kim,
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect and what a beautiful chippy wonderful addition. I just love it. Isn't it amazing how one little change like a light fixture can make you smile every time you look at it. It is really pretty Kim.
Kris
It's absolutely gorgeous, Kim!! What a beautiful statement!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully distressed and perfect for the room. I wish I could remove some of the fans in our home. But alas.... Florida calls for fans most of the year.
ReplyDeleteIt is just stunning! I love the transformation in your space :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! I just bought a very similar one! It's being installed in my dining room on Tuesday! I love it! You have fantastic taste!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! So much nicer than the ceiling fan. I no longer have any ceiling fans in my house and I'm fine with it. Love that style you chose too.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I'm glad you were able to switch it out after all. I would have hired someone to switch it out too...that is really high up!
ReplyDeletePerfect Kim! Ceiling fans are so practical, but I'll take a chandelier anyday. Yours is perfect for the room.

ReplyDeleteWay better! Love it!

ReplyDeleteFrom the caterpillar to the gorgeous butterfly…looks magnificent…I am sure you are over the top happy with the new look of the room!!...
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! It looks so much better than the fan, but the real praise goes to you for getting Mr. Savvy to agree.
ReplyDeleteI too live in the south and ceiling fans are a man's best friend in theses parts.
It looks perfect for your home and the tall room height, Kim.
ReplyDeleteWow what a beautiful piece! Looks great and is made just for that spot. Thanks for sharing, have a great week.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it, Kim!!!

Sherry
Perfect Kim!!!! I have the same dilemma as you with my not-so-nice ceiling fan, but haven't found the right chandy yet, glad you found the perfect and beautiful one for your home!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I would love to get rid of all my ceiling fans. But in Texas….
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you.
It is beautiful! It's amazing how much it changed the look of the whole room!
ReplyDeleteSally
Love it. Great change.
ReplyDeleteYes, much better : ) Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo frenchy! Love it. Tell Mr. to bring in the blower next time he blows the driveway...that will get all those styro balls off! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI actually MISS my ceiling fans....I love the air movement and we are in the FAR NORTH! :) It IS beautiful though, but not for me. I think someone would make a fortune creating a truly beautiful fan! Your home is lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove your new chandy! Your husband's comment about the black spots on your new chandy reminds me of my own dear, helpful husband. I bought the cutest distressed piggy bank in the shape of a flying pig and one day when I was out my husband decided he would fix it for me and painted it...sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love your new chandy! I would love to take out all ceiling fans and replace with chandeliers. Working on the husband for that one. I know he would be holding onto the fan in the Master bedroom for sure. lol. Anyhoo, it looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Have a lovely week. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
