Hi there! I'm Shayna from The Wood Grain Cottageand I'm so excited to be here today! When Kim asked if I wanted to share my favorite room, I couldn't wait to put the post together... I knew exactly which room I would share! My husband and I finished building our home almost two years ago, but since then we've been busy adding a bunch of custom touches. We're big on neutrals, DIY projects and wood grain, hence The Wood Grain Cottage. Today I'm sharing our kitchen/ breakfast nook. I truly spend the majority of my time in the kitchen. It's the heart of our home and we enjoy gathering around the island to discuss the details of our day.
I'm a sucker for baskets, cutting boards, ironstone, white ceramics, stripes, little trees in metal buckets... I could go on and on...
But I really love how white and wood look together...
We just installed the board and batten in the living room, and even though it's in the living room, it still impacted the kitchen so much... That will happen when everything's nice and open...
This little island... I just love it! It definitely holds its own around here...
I also really love boxwood wreaths, especially when it looks this fabulous with my DIY spoon & pallet hook rack!
And since our floor plan is reeaally open, our kitchen and breakfast nook are basically combined into one big room.
The first project we completed after we moved in was building our breakfast nook bench. I loved it so much, that we installed the plank wall around it. And I loved that so much, that we installed them in several different rooms throughout our home, but that's a story of its own.
I think it's safe to say that I also like glass.... Maybe just a wee bit!
Oh ya, and pinecones! You can typically find me outside bringing as much as I can indoors!
Our kitchen shelves are another favorite of mine and I have fun mixing things up as the seasons change, or whenever inspiration strikes!
And here's a peek at what it looked like this fall...
And this year at Christmas...
Thank you so much for touring my favorite room! Be sure to stop by The WGC

If I ever re-do my kitchen, I'd do a mixture of light and dark, as Shayna did. Her kitchen is so pretty, and all of her collectibles make it so homey. It was fun seeing how she decorates it in different seasons. Just beautiful!
