I am so thrilled with how this little area looks now. This chest used to be in the great room.
It is the perfect size in this nook.
It is the perfect size in this nook.
Here is a reminder of the yellow walls.
And now the new fresh off white color of Linen White by Benjamin Moore paints. And I love having this chest here now with a lamp that I can keep on in this dark space. The picture was in my hoarding stash room so I was glad to have a new spot for it.
This is an antique balance that I bought in France and am displaying it on this chest.
It has a few scratches on the wood, but that is to be expected with an old piece. This was sitting on the bottom shelf with a bunch of other dirty dusty things and I am so glad I spied it.
I was thrilled when I opened the drawer and found that it still had most of the weights.
These are the two larger weights.
When I bought this the lever was broken and in the drawer. I was hoping it could easily be repaired and thank goodness my smart hubby and step son were able to solder it together.
Now there is a spot to put our keys if we need to, but these decorative ones will do,
This is the wall next to the door where we come in the garage. I have had this rack from Pottery Barn for many years. I just have a couple of decorative aprons, two of my paint aprons, and a cutting board hanging here.
This is what we see when we enter the house.
So glad to have this area more presentable now.
One project down and more to go.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for a guest blogger's fabulous favorite room.

ReplyDeleteLooks great Kim! Now I am thinking... we had one of those balances , with the weights in the drawer when I was a child. Where did it go?

Kim, I LOVE the small chest, it has great patina and the French balance with weights was the perfect addition. Benjamin Moore linen is the perfect creamy white makes a great backdrop
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty spot now! I know it will come in handy when you come inside from the garage. If that were in my house, I bet it would quickly become a drop spot for keys, purse, wallet etc. I'm not sure if it would stay so clean. LOL! Love the new balance you found. It reminds me of the one mom had except smaller.
ReplyDeleteWhat great piece Kim, it adds so much charm and has character with its age. I enjoy seeing everyone's treasures from the France trip.

ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely spot: I love the new wall colour, the chest and the scale. You were lucky to have most of the weights. They are often more expensive than the scales themselves here!
