I found a pair of wonderful old benches in France and thought I would use one of them at the French farm table, but Mr. Savvy was not going to sit on a bench. So one ended up at the foot of our bed. I love the way it adds more of a French farmhouse style in the master.
When I shared the mirror switch and redo last week I did my best not to show the bench, but I truly thought my very observant friend, Martina would have noticed.
After not being able to use it at the table I thought oh, no now what am I going to do with it? Once I placed it here I loved it. You can see the bench I had here before here.
The bench is very old and worn and was in worst shape until I used some Restor A Finish on it. That brought it back to life.
This piece is also pegged together and when I accidentally kick it sometimes while making up the bed it makes a clanking sound.
Roses add a touch of spring.
I'm loving the change.
I have two of these benches and I will share where the other one landed another time.
Have a beautiful week.

magnificent~! love the quiet elegance of it all.
ReplyDeleteThe room is beautiful Kim. And, I love the bench at the foot of the bed. Perfect spot for it.
ReplyDeleteLove the bench, what a fabulous find. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThe bench was made for that spot!...We certainly all did very well finding lots of treasures at that one antique shop in Deauville...I love where you placed the other bench and mum's the word!...
ReplyDeleteA fitting end for a lovely bench!
ReplyDeleteThat bench is just beautiful! Perfect place for it, looks just awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour bench shows up beautifully against the white quilts on your bed. Love its style!

That bench is amazing! It looks great at the end of your bed.

Oooh so beautiful Kim! I love the bed!
ReplyDeletelooks perfect there! where did you get that folded quilt/blanket on the bed...pretty.
ReplyDeletePerfect! can't wait to see where you are using the second bench. I'm SO glad it has warmed up! Yea! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so beautiful Kim!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench Kim...it looks perfect at the foot of your bed!! I must be slacking lol...because I always pick up a change you've made!!
ReplyDeleteYour room is beautiful and I love how the bench looks in front of the light colored bedding! Glad to hear it is getting warmer down south. We are getting more snow tomorrow...

Hi Kim, Oh, your bedroom is so lovely! Love that new bench and as always, love the bed skirt. Such a restful room.
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect there. I love the soothing clean look your bedroom has!
ReplyDeleteI think the bench looks excellent there, in fact the whole bed looks fantastic. Wondering.... did the other one end up on the stair landing?
ReplyDeleteThat bench is wonderful! It looks perfect at the foot of your bed.
ReplyDeleteThe bedroom is beautiful! I love the bench! It's fun to watch how you mix things up!
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is beautiful KIm!
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect at the end of your bed. The wood is a perfect foil for the soft fabrics. Beautiful comforter folded at the end of the bed, too. Jane
ReplyDeleteLove the bench, Kim! Your room looks gorgeous, as always!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI have always felt our bedrooms need to be the sanctuary and peaceful retreat we go to every night and your bedroom is just that. I love the peaceful welcome feel to the room. That bench was made for the spot you have it. Just beautiful. Love all your little french touches. Gorgeous.
Kris
I collect the green (aqua) bottles and also have several in our bedroom! And just put another grouping in the dining room. I love aqua/turquoise.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Mr. Saavy. I think the benches are uncomfortable to sit on at the table - although it would probably look good. Looks great at the foot of the bed.

Kim, I'm smiling here, my husband won't sit on the bench I moved under our dining table recently...your bench looks beautiful at the foot of the bed...it looks like it has just the right patina...and I can only imagine the memories it evokes for you..N.xo
ReplyDeleteLove your new bench....it looks great at the foot of your bed!!!! Your bedding is so gorgeous too!

I just love the look of this room Kim! The bench really looks beautiful there too! You always inspire me:)
ReplyDeleteLove it all !!! Just beautiful and your bedding is fabulous
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the other went into the sunroom or by the entry? Love it Kim, it's like it was meant to be and that you bought it for that space in your bedroom! It adds more beauty to your already perfect space!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so nice! And I love the white quilt on your bed. Mind telling me where you got it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove all of it…. the bench is perfect at the end of the bed…everything is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have that blue toile pillow on my bed, now all I need is that BENCH!!!
ReplyDeletePerfection! That bench belongs at the end of your bed! Wow! You hit the jackpot in France! You bedroom is so inviting!
ReplyDeleteI think the narrow French bench is better for the end of the bed. Love the length and it looks fabulous. I have a bench I want to use at the end of my bed but it’s to deep so I use it in the bath next to the tub. Would love to know what product you used to restore. I need a good one for my antique table in my kitchen. Love the spring touch too............
ReplyDeleteThe bench landed in the perfect spot. Very rustic against the elegance in the beautiful bedroom! Luv it.
ReplyDeleteThat bench really wanted to be in the master bedroom...it is perfect. The room is lovely and I LOVE the bedskirt.
ReplyDeleteLove that bench at the end of your bed, it looks like it really belongs there. You have a lovely MB, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI do understand the bench issue--I love how they look with a table--but for comfort no one wants to be on the 'bench-side' in our family either. I have the same style and those legs seem to stick out just enough to meet my toe when I try to walk around it too! I think you came up with the perfect solution for yours and I can't wait to see the other one! Big hug from Rabbit Hill! xx Cat
ReplyDeleteLOVE the bench! My hubby would have been the same way - he likes what he sits on to be sturdy and comfortable - we had some really large dining room chairs that an uncle of mine gave us - they were way to big for our house but we used them a lot longer than I wanted to becasuse my husband loved how comfy they were! I go for the looks and just deal with the comfort - lol!
ReplyDeleteI just love your bedroom! The bench at the foot of the bed is just perfect. I like that one best out of all the other benches you have used there. I love the display of blue bottles next to your bed as well. They look pretty with the sun shining through them.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Kim, I love it at the end of your bed! I think the rich wood next to your plaid bed skirt is just fabulous! So pretty and very french farmhouse! xo Jen
ReplyDeleteLove it and all your wonderful French finds from your trip...you sure did get a lot of great pieces!
ReplyDeleteI wish it would warm up here. All we're getting now is rain and wind:-(
xoxo

Oh, what a fabulous bench.
ReplyDeleteI had a bench at the foot of our bed, but now we have Lulu's crate in our bedroom so I had to remove the bench. I tell myself she will outgrown the need for a crate and I can have my bench back.
Now, I am on the hunt for a wonderful basket like the one on the top of your armoire.
Your whole bedroom looks so inviting and serene and the bench is indeed very French country. But I agree with Mr Savvy, even I wouldn't like to sit on a bench for dinners. My parents' neighbours have some of those and when you're a bit on the skinny side, , it's really uncomfortable at the end of the evening ;)
ReplyDeleteFantastic bench! I'm gearing up to make some changes in my master, and I see many similar ideas in your room-just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench there, it is beautiful! Your bed looks SO comfy and inviting. Love that poufy quilt(?) folded at the bottom. Another question: I love the chest on the side of the bed with the flowers. What is on the other side? I have had a BUG to repace the nightstands in our room but can't find what I want and that will fit the space. BEAUTIFUL room!
ReplyDeleteWent to the other post and saw the other side:):)
ReplyDeleteLove the bench. A friend of mine has one very similar! My hubby won't let me put anything like that because his toes find it every time!
ReplyDeleteI place the large euro sham pillows at each end of the bench when I pull the bed back at night for that very reason.
DeleteBeautiful place for your bench, Kim! I absolutely adore your bedroom! Do you mind my asking where you got your blanket/comforter at the end of your bed? Everything's gorgeous!~~Angela
ReplyDeleteI love the bench at the end. I would love to put one at the end of our bed, but since I'm the one who has to walk around the bed to get to the hall, closet and bathroom, and being the klutz I am, my poor legs would stay black and blue! lol
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the look. I'm ready to make some decorating changes, now I have to get the husband's wallet to agree.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as usual Kim!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, Absolutely love the bench and I think it works perfectly at the end of your bed-but then I think you whole room is perfect, along with you whole house. I would love one in my new laundry room-so we can take off shoes etc when we come in from the garage.
ReplyDeleteHugs today!
Noreen
I love the gingham bed skirt. I'm going to do that but with either red or navy gingham. Love, love your style.
ReplyDeleteI love, love the new bench!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the bench! It really looks great at the end of the bed, Kim. There is nothing like a REAL old piece-rather than a newer one made to LOOK old. You scored a really great piece there, Kim.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me again what color the bedroom walls are? I know you shared it one time but I can't seem to find the name of the paint. I think that might be perfect for our room when I repaint. xo Diana
Kim, love this look! The bed skirt and white bedding are gorgeous. Is the white quilt spread new?
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the bench as well as your beautiful bed linens! Very Nice~~
ReplyDeleteLove the bench and the quilt. You do the best bedrooms!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench and of course the bed! It all looks so warm and comfortable!
ReplyDeleteKim I love this bench and I am also a fan of the quilt on the bed. Where did you purchase that and the dust ruffle??? The thought of spring sounds great but hear in NJ I am not sure when that will happen.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Gorgeous Kim!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench Kim....and those awesome blue bottles....you know how much I love old bottles:)
ReplyDeleteThe bench is fabulous Kim, and looks great in your room. I have a question I've been wanting to ask you for a while. How do you ship things from Paris back to the states? We go over frequently but I only bring back what I can carry in my bags. Can you help me?
ReplyDeleteI went with a group and it was a shopping tour in Normandy. The tour hosts live there and this is their job to take folks shopping and to ship it all back for you. He shipped our stuff over in a 20ft container since we bought large pieces. If you buy a lot of smalls they can be flown over in a container. I guess you can research who to do this through.
DeleteLove, love, love the bench! It looks perfect at the end of your bed. The old one looked pretty, too, but this one makes so much more of a statement because it is so unique.
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog. Love your master and the bench. What is the paint color? I may want to use it in my living area. Thanks.
ReplyDeletePam, the walls are Alexandria Beige by Benjamin Moore paint.
DeleteThanks
I love all Master bedroom designs! What is the carpet? Love it too
ReplyDeleteIt's by Mohawk and we bought it at Home Depot a few years ago.
DeleteI love the whole room! Can I ask where you got your comforter, love the pattern, and the bed skirt and pillows...well pretty much all of it! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMary, this post if four years old so none of the bedding is available now. Thank you
