You've heard of musical chairs well this is about my musical mirrors.
So where did this mirror go that so many of you love?
Well, it has moved in here and replaced this mirror over my dresser in the master. This mirror has moved somewhere else and I will show you that another time. Are you keeping up?? Geesh.
After moving the mirror in here I decided it needed a face lift.
The dark brown with the black spots just wasn't working for me so I decided to make it gold.
I just brushed on this Inca Gold Gilders Paste little by little.
We have the mirror leaning on the dresser. This mirror is very heavy and very hard for Mr. Savvy to hang unless we move the very heavy dresser. With his bad back we aren't taking any chances.
I decided to add larger chunkier lamps that I had in storage in my hoarding room. I picked up a couple of new textured lamp shades from the Pottery Barn outlet.
Loving the new look and it only took me about an hour total time to paint the mirror.
Glad the gold/brass look is back in.
Another guest blogger's beautiful favorite room will be shared tomorrow.
Hope to see you then.
Hope to see you then.
The new mirror placement looks great. It is a better size. I have the exact same smaller mirror. I love it too but it needs a smaller piece of furniture.
ReplyDeleteI always loved your mirror in your foyer, but it's perfect over your dresser in your bedroom, especially since you gilded it! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that gilder's paste is magic, it looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Love its new home and color!
ReplyDeleteYour "mirror musical chairs" looks great! The gilder's paste provided just the right touch for your mirror. I love the changes!
ReplyDeleteLove the change with the gold!! Funny how we cycle round and round to colors and styles over time! LOL! The two heavy lamps look great flanking the mirror, too!
ReplyDeleteThe mirror looks perfect there with the chunkier lamps Kim. I also love the antique brass look and am glad it is back.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love what you did with it!
ReplyDeleteI like the mirror switch and I love the gold. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful Kim. The larger mirror balances the wall, dresser, and lamps much better. It's fun to switch things up now and again, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteLove it. I have been gilding several things with the gold....it is so warm and classy. Your dresser area looks beautiful. The change is perfect. . I too am so glad gold is back! I had a designer friend tell me a long time ago that tradition never goes out of style but trends most always do, she has been so right!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! Love it's new home!!~~Angela
ReplyDeleteI really love the new look! It really changes the look of the mirror completely! I think it stands out more.
ReplyDeleteReally changed the look of the mirror. I think it was a wonderful improvement.
ReplyDeleteLove that mirror and love it in your bedroom....perfect!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Kim and why not move it around and get lots of use out of it. Those versatile pieces are priceless.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mirror and what you did is just beautiful…looks nice in it's new place!
ReplyDeleteLooks great and glad to know gold is back as I just bought a gorgeous antique gilded mirror! Love your simplistic look in this room too and not busy with lots of decor on the walls!
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect with it new color, I like the look of it leaning against the wall.
ReplyDeleteGreat switch Kim and I love it gold...it really stands out now!
ReplyDeleteKim, love the gold and the new look is awesome!!! You have great taste, girl!
ReplyDeleteThe mirror is just gorgeous, no matter what the finish. I would really like one for my own home! (Hi Kim, I recently switched to WP, which opened a can of worms w/self-hosting. I'm going to blog a few times a month, as I now own and operate an upscale furniture & home decor consignment store!) Hugs, your home always looks amazing--you have some energy and vision, girl!
ReplyDeleteKim I love the new look of your bedroom dresser! That mirror looks great with it's new makeover too! Good job :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way you play musical chairs with all your accessories! This mirror looks great in your room; the gold looks so pretty. And I've always loved the look of a big mirror leaning against the wall, so I think you made a good call to save your hubby's back! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks perfect Kim. It always amazes me how you find the perfect home for something and make it look new again!
ReplyDeleteThe mirror looks fabulous in your bedroom and I love it in the gold....very pretty!

it looks great in gold and the heavy lamps help to hold the dresser more. great job.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your changes ( makes me feel more sane about mine!) I've copied your idea about having a hoarding room - I lugged 15 boxes and some small furniture out of my office/studio and in to my spare bedroom. Now I could dance in my office and have started painting again as the space has inspired me. If we have guests over to stay I'm sure they won't mind all those boxes! ♥
ReplyDeletePaint...What a simple way to change the look of something! Love it! Love the mirror! After seeing all your changes lately, I'm getting in the mood to do some rearranging myself!
ReplyDeleteThis was a good choice -- the scale is better and the gold is inspired!
ReplyDeleteI love the mirror with it's make over. Gorgeous. It looks totally different.
ReplyDeleteLove the change! The lamps are great, too.
ReplyDeleteLove the mirror in gold - I have one I think I may have to do that with too -
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation!
Great switch Kim!
ReplyDeleteFabulous switch! I love, LOVE that mirror, as you know!!! One of these days, if we ever sell the darn house I am going to order it!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the gold too!
ReplyDeleteInteresting how just a few tweaks here and there can make all the difference. The scale of the mirror looks great and I love that the mirror didn't turn out brassy gold. It looks much more toned down. Love it!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love the update. I haven't heard of that gilding paste. Must give it a try! ~Christy
ReplyDeleteLove the update to the mirror. And I love the domino effect of your decorating. It always leads to another change and project which is exactly what happens to me. :)

Look's great, Kim! What did I do? Went to dr's office for a med check. Got groceries. Expensive prescription dog food. I want to know: Does Mr. Savvy ever look in your storage room? Just wondering.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Bad back or not. I think I prefer the mirror that way Kim. I've used that guiding product (I think) a while back and found it super easy to use and a little went a long way.
ReplyDeleteThe mirror looks great over the dresser. It makes the whole wall look more "important." I really like the look of big mirrors leaning instead of hanging. I am always afraid to refinish something in fear of ruining it! So far, I'm liking the musical mirrors!
ReplyDeleteKim, nice job, I kinda liked the burl, or was it tortoise finish?
ReplyDeleteDepends which side board you use it with. I like it all.

The mirror looks great Kim. I even like it leaning. Using the gold to change it makes it stand out from the tone of the dresser now. Love it!
ReplyDeleteKristi
I love the idea of a hoarding room. I think I need one too! Your home is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove the mirror in the bedroom. The scale is perfect. One day I need to meet Mr. Savvy.....I would love to get his perspective on you moving and changing things all the time! Maybe you should do an interview with him!
