A couple weekends ago I went with my daughter to Ikea. I wanted to see what new things they had and I was certainly not disappointed.
I have been wanting to attach a rack to the end of the island for quite some time and picked up this one and the hooks while at Ikea. They sell little buckets and other containers that you can hang from the hooks and it is all so darn cheap.
I was going to just hang some of my French towels from the hooks, but the towels are so long that they touch the floor so instead I just folded one over the bar and hung a small bread board and my cow mold.
Something else new in the kitchen is this vintage enamelware colander. As soon as I saw it on Mary Alice's etsy shop I had to have it.
Nice and worn with age spots just like me.
Love the handle shape.
This is my other vintage enamelware colander that I found last year. Uh oh, may be the start of another collection.
This is the cool mark on the blue colander.
This is the cool mark on the blue colander.
I love how the rack looks here.
I will be sharing a couple more things from Ikea soon in other rooms and a recent kitchen project or two, too.
Happy first day of spring!!
Hi Kim, Love your antiques! Your kitchen is lovey.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat does look great!! I might have to try that myself. I love Ikea! Those colanders are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteKim, your new items are fabulous! I love the enamelware! I have been eyeing the hanging system from Ikea too. I love how you displayed some of your treasures from it.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting an Ikea soon here in our area. I can't wait! I used to find the best things at the one in California. Your towel bar is so cute and you know I love the copper.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI've never visited Ikea. Now I'm thinking I should make the trip!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring Kim. Looks like the sun is popping out here today also. Perfect timing! Love your new items in the kitchen. I will be on the lookout for a vintage colander for ya!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun to see how you're using the colander. It was always a favorite of mine, so I'm so glad you scooped it up! Thank you so much for the shout-out!! I adore your other colander...never seen one like that.
And now you have my wheels turning because I love your towel bar from Ikea.
Mary Alice
Happy Spring! Kim, love the great look, your new pieces are awesome! I've not been to Ikea in years and years! Must check it out soon when we make our move to the big city!
ReplyDeleteQuestion! I love the finish on your island and your kitchen cabinets as well. Would this happen to be chalk paint? I love the looks of chalk paint and wonder how well it stands up to kitchen goings on. My email is MissLindaLee@ec.rr.com Thank you so much for any help.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring Kim! Love your new rack. It is perfect there! Great colander too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect! Your kitchen is so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteEnamelware luv!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove all your new finds and the rack looks great at the end of the counter.
ReplyDeleteGotta Love Ikea. Love the hanging rack and also that wonderful colander you got at Mary Alice's shop. That is awesome.
ReplyDeleteKris
Love Ikea...just wish mine was not so far!...I have the same rack at the end of my island and love it...it is so versatile...Now I love the way you hung your breadboard on it...I may have to "copy" you on that...and love the colander...just perfect for your kitchen!...great find!!
ReplyDeleteCute finds, Kim! I love Ikea. You just never know what you are going to find; but, you can bet you'll find 'something'; and it will be at a great price!
ReplyDeleteYou got some great finds! Looks great!!
ReplyDeleteThe IKEA towel bar is perfect there on your island! How fun to change out what you hang from it! I have got to get to an IKEA store its all I've been hearing about lately! The store closest to me is about a 2-3 hour drive. It would be a fun day trip with my daughters. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI put one on my island several months ago! I love the colander!
ReplyDeleteNow why didn't I see that towel bar when I was at IKEA. I love that! It looks wonderful and beautifully styled. I am going to post this to my facebook page so others can find it as well!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I have that ikea rack in my craft room and love it! I bought the containers that go with it to hold scissors and other crafty things :)
ReplyDeleteYour new bar looks so good there! I like what you chose to hang off of it.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty Kim! Loving the hooks, very clever idea. Cool colander too!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely Kim! Don't you just love IKEA?! So many great things there - I need a bigger house!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea Kim and I really like that bread board hanging. Mary Alice has the neatest things in her shop. When we get in the new house I am hoping to find what I am looking for in her shop.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
LOVE the new rack Kim...it looks perfect there!!
ReplyDeleteI love that look too! I like having my cutting boards and pans hanging off the island within easy reach. I'm glad to know there is a rod specifically for that purpose. I just used an iron curtain rod and my pot hooks were too small for the rod. We don't have Ikea here either, though.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty - I love Ikea...just wish we had one a little closer!

The rack looks great! I really like the towels hanging from it. I just read that the founder of Ikea lives in a modest house and actually uses things from his store to decorate his house.
ReplyDeleteKim your Ikea rack looks fabulous!!! What a great idea to put your towels there. I have mine hanging from either the frig or oven door...not a great place for them. And I have a kitchen island...hmmm! Your new vintage colander is darling too.
ReplyDeleteXO Barbara
The rack is so great! You convinced me that I need one!
ReplyDeleteYou do "not" have age spots! Lovin' your new goodies ... oh, how I miss IKEA!
ReplyDeleteI love Ikea. I bought the same towel bar and still haven't found the perfect place to hang it. Yours looks perfect and the colander is amazing. Can't wait to see what else you have found.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, Your new rack looks perfect and I like the colander:) IKEA has a wonderful selection of home decor products!
ReplyDeleteBe wary of some man coming on here and telling you that you have a nice rack. He might have ulterior motives. Other than that- I LOVE your NEW rack! I still have not been to an IKEA. Our closest one is about 5+hours from home. I really need to make that trip one day.
ReplyDeleteStill taking care of new baby here so I am visiting when and as I can- Diana
I'm not a fan of Ikea, but I love how that rack looks: traditional with a modern and country twist. There were rumours here in France that they would stop selling it, so I bought one several months ago... I still don't know if I'll use it in the kitchen... BUt in case I need it, I have it (in my bedroom for now!!!) The copper mold brings a nice contrast with the dark rack... I might need to add a copper mold to mine!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the white colander. Great find. The towel bar looks good on your island, and I really like the copper mold and breadboard. Nice job. Must be fun to shop with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue colander, such striking color! Every time I see your kitchen island I want to go and paint mine a lighter color :) The towel bar works perfectly well on it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a little thing that makes such a beautiful statement. LOVE the rack, wish we had an Ikea ANYWHERE near us:(
ReplyDeleteI love your worn enamelware! The collanders are so..."family" and sweet!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics about everyday kitchen life!
