Almost one month ago I shared a new painting I found for my dining room.
Now, I know some of you like the look of the antlers I decorate with and some of you don't and that's okay. This world would be one boring place if we all liked the same thing. This pair is special and I want to show you why.
What, you don't see anything special about it? Let me give you a closer look.
When I saw this on ebay and saw the date on the bottom and thought, what? That's my birth date!
Not just the month and day, but the year, too. There weren't any bids yet so I contacted the seller, who I have bought from before, and asked her if she would sell it to me and told her why. She was so sweet and immediately switched them to buy it now. Yay, it was all mine.
I'm so glad that I have this hanging in a special place above the new painting.
Just sitting in my home looking at ebay and finding something over in Austria with my birthday on it and now they're mine. What are the chances of that ever happening again?
It just had to be mine.
:)
Looks great! They did have to be yours. It was a sign.
ReplyDeleteOf course they had to be yours! How wonderful.
ReplyDeletePlease put a Pin button on each of your photos. You have so many great ideas I want to save!
ReplyDeleteYou can add a pin button in your book bar like I have and pin away.
DeleteThanks
It was meant to be, Kim. They look great with your painting too!
ReplyDeleteI love the painting and how cool that the antlers are connected to you!
ReplyDeleteOf coarse they had to be yours, Kim! That is a special date! I like them over the picture. Love the plates too.
ReplyDeleteKim, I love your posts, not only the beautiful pictures but also your "next door neighbor" manner! Like many of your readers, I look forward to each project and posting. Thanks! A quick question, what color is the paint in your DR?
ReplyDeleteJulie, that is the best compliment ever! Most of my house is painted with Benjamin Moore, but the dining room is Behr paint in Swiss Coffee.
DeleteThanks
I love antlers! So fun that they have your birthdate
ReplyDeleteThey are AWESOME!!! Of course you had to have them! They look perfect where you've hung them.

Besos!
They were meant for you. I like them above the painting too. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI love antlers too! Many of mine are from Scott's Antiques and Boxwoods, my fave Atlanta shoppe. Come on over and check out the "new" look of Uptown Acorn. It has been a while since I've seen you there. Happy Saturday!

What a perfect coincidence for you Kim!!! I love using antlers in my home too and I have a couple in my son's room, haven't had the real ones yet, still waiting on the right one with the right price. It's perfect in your home and you really were meant to have it with that important date on there!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that story, and I love everything else about them. And you know, I always love what you do!!
ReplyDeleteLuv to see someone so excited about a purchase. I have 3 items I was so excited about and they are main stays in my decor-never to be replaced by me since they are so special. Happy you found it!!!!

ReplyDeleteYou and I have great taste! Love your blog! Cheryl Ann
ReplyDeleteI guess it was meant to be. I love things that have a personal connection.
ReplyDeleteHow incredibly lucky for you to find not only a great pair of antlers but with you birth date on them as well! And from one of my favorite places Austria! Well done!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kim, I asked my mom who is from Germany to take a look at the plaque and see if she could translate the words. Here is what she came up with:
ReplyDeleteErzbishop Rev Feistritzwald = a man's name (He might have been a lecturer - Feistritzwald is his last name)
Groß Hau = is a resort/conference center in the Hartz mountains
Diana Schlag = another person (or the student)
Hüttenbock = city in the Hartz Mountains
Urlaub = vacation
10th September 1955
Hope this gives you an idea of what the award was for. And how fun that you found it with your birthday on it! That just makes me so happy for you!
Thank you for the info. That was so nice of you.
DeleteAmazing Kim! I love it!

Wow, these are perfect, Kim! We're the same age, but I'm a July girl. You always amaze me with your eye for detail! I think this is a fabulous addition to the painting! It's always a pleasure stopping by your blog! You have a great eye for design!
ReplyDeleteKim I love that story and you are so right it had to come to your home, it is perfect. I have an antique stick pin that has my birthdate on the back of it but the year is 1901. It does feel more special when you can relate to an object like that. Plus it looks really good in your room.
ReplyDeleteYes Kim, that was meant to be and I am glad you got it. Enjoy! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, that was a lucky find and it looks great above your painting. I'm just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. I have been having trouble with GFC and if I am already following you, and you following me, please forgive me. If not, please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

ReplyDeleteKim, I agree with Julie D in that you always sound so upbeat and friendly in your posts!!!! I LOVE seeing every single one of them. That is a fabulous find!!!!!!!!!!! I am one of the ones who LOVES the antlers.
ReplyDeleteThey were meant be yours. How ironic that it has your birth date on them. I don't believe that kind of stuff just happens but accident.. call me crazy! They look lovely in your home!
