My Favorite Room....The Daily Nest

Hi everyone! I'm Kathy from The Daily Nest, and seriously somebody needs to PINCH ME!!

I can't begin to tell you how honored I am to be here sharing my favorite room with Kim of Savvy Southern Style! I've followed along with her and her amazing blog for a while now. I've always dreamed of the day that maybe I too could start a blog to share my passion for decorating.

So to be here today is truly surreal!

Thank you Kim from the bottom of my heart! :)
On to my favorite room.
When I thought about which room I would write about it really was a no brainer. My master bedroom…it's my sanctuary, it's my little piece of heaven and when I get into bed at night it's…HOME.

Here's a little history about this room.
25 years ago my husband was anxious to have a second baby. On the other hand I was not too thrilled to have two kids in a two bedroom house!  So we made an agreement. That if he built my dream bedroom we would have another baby…cut to the Doctors visit to confirm my pregnancy followed by a trip downtown to pull the building permits!

Now that little baby will be 25 years old this year! Best decision we ever made,
in both regards!

 Sydney, she's my constant companion…Love!

The little writing desk was made by my husband's grandfather in his high school woodworking shop in 1918. We have always treasured it.

I wish I could count all the times this room has been painted! It's been through so many transformations and styles I can't even count!
At one time it was even painted Pepto-Bismol Pink! What was I thinking?
The fireplace was originally a reddish old brick, but had become dated looking. We recently had it painted Benjamin Moore's White Dove, a creamy, soft white.  The wall color is now Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter and the trim is also BM White Dove, and it's by far my favorite! Very calming!

All the bedding is from Pottery Barn and is a Navy/White combination. My husband constructed all the board and batten, fireplace mantel and crown molding himself! I don't know what I would do without him!

The picture of my granddaughter as a newborn is precious to me!

Framed prints are by the artist P. Buckley Moss. Each is named after one of my sons, Doug & Tyler.
They've always been displayed in my bedroom.

The corner window was originally going to be a window seat. We never got around to doing that, and looking back I'm glad we didn't. It makes a great sitting area. The Ikea chaise is very comfortable and is a great place to sit and enjoy the fire. Yes, we do use the fireplace in Florida!

Thank you again Kim for allowing me to be a part of this amazing and fun series!
I hope you enjoyed my master bedroom tour and hope you'll stop by to take a look at my other rooms and visit me often!
