Answering Questions About Some Art

The other day when I shared my Collecting in Blue post I was asked a few times about this artwork over the buffet so I thought I would share a bit more about this and some others I have by this same artist.

I have shared this painting and the others several times over the past four and a half years. They, like everything else in my home, have moved to new spots several times. The artist is Rodo Boulanger. Here is a Link to some info about her.

Many years ago when I was looking for some art to fill wall space after we moved in this house I spotted this painting and the next one in a framing shop that sold art and mirrors. As soon as I saw these cute odd looking characters I had to have them.

This one of three folk on unicycles hangs in the little hallway off the garage and by the kitchen.

I just love these fun paintings. I love adding whimsy in my design and these certainly fit the bill.

This one hangs in the powder room and is one of a pair of signed and numbered lithographs from a calender she painted.

They used to hang in the laundry room after I made that room over, but of course have been moved.

This is a close up of the one in the powder room. This one is February.

This one is November. Mr. Savvy just about had a stroke when we bought these. The lady told us $497 and  he thought it was for both, but it was for one. Yes, the most expensive art we own. The others are just cheap prints.

I know some pay much more than that for art, but not us. I do say you should buy what you love though
and a splurge now and then is a good thing.

Enjoy your Sunday!

  1. I have loved these pieces since the first time I saw them, Kim. They are wonderful!

I've paid quite a bit for prints, but they are good prints and many of them are mementos of special times for us. I think the most I paid for an original was around $500. It is an abstract that hangs in the landing going down to the lower level. We saw it at a show here. The artist was from Michigan. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years after we bought the watercolor. She passed away 2 or 3 years ago. We enjoyed meeting her and her husband.

My mother has a print of this hanging in her sunroom. I've always liked its colorful, whimsical style but until today never paid much attention to who the artist might be. Thanks for the lesson!
