I have acquired a few pieces of silver over the last four years and usually put out more during the colder seasons. So right now most of it is put away and will be brought back out soon. So I grabbed some photos from my files to share how I have used vintage silver around my home.
This was probably the first silver piece I bought. I love the monogram on it. I like to place pieces on stacks of old books.
Love that these knife handles are monogrammed, too. Doesn't bother me in the least that it isn't our initial.
This silver creamer was purchased last winter at a local flea market.
It also is monogrammed.
This large silver revere bowl was filled with shells and then I threw in an old rusty door knob and that vintage fork. Why? Just because.
This small monogrammed revere bowl trophy was a steal at $10 several years ago.
This hutch isn't decorated exactly the same now as it was here, but close. I wanted to show how I used a silver tray to display the very old pharmaceutical bottles that I purchased in France last year. Hard to believe it has been almost a year since that trip.
I love using my old silver trophies to decorate with, too.
I love silver....always a classic!...love your collection!!
ReplyDeleteI have so much vintage silver but never do a thing with it. Mine all looks like it could use a good polishing too. I love how you are displaying yours Kim
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love silver! I am so blessed to have my Mother-in-Law's silver pieces. My Sweet Husband said that he grew up with it all over their house. I've been wanting to put it out, but was at a loss as to how to use it decoratively. Thanks for the advice and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYou have some really nice and interesting pieces. I love pulling out the silver through the fall and winter months. Adds a nice warmth to the decor.

Love your silver. Don't think my first reply went through. I have a set of flatware from a great aunt that you have inspired me to use. Thanks

I love your collection!! The monogrammed pieces and the trophy are my favorites- I have been searching for a few trophies to add to my collection! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love old tarnished silver. It is something that never goes out of style. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteLUV vintage silver. I keep mine tarnished , but I luv it that way. As summer comes to a close I will be bringing mine out as well.To me it just warms up the place!
ReplyDeleteLuv your pretty pieces Kim.
Every precious piece of your old silver collection is displayed beautifully, Kim.
ReplyDeleteI love all your silver displays.
ReplyDeleteI donated much of the silver we got as wedding presents, but I have a few pieces of family silver flatware that I use in decorating. If we had moved to this house after I discovered blogs, I would have kept a lot more of my "stuff".
Beautifully displayed, great job, Kim! I need to pull out some silver, thanks for the idea. :) Happy weekend! ~Liz
ReplyDeleteVery nice collection and beautifully displayed.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all of your vintage silver, Kim...especially the monogrammed pieces! I agree...I love that idea and the fact that it's not mine doesn't bother me at all! Hope you are having a great holiday weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteI LOVE silver and can rarely pass a vintage piece without wondering the story behind it. Love your collection and always enjoy seeing the way you style it.
ReplyDeleteKim, I'm fond of vintage silver too and like to use it as accents here and there. I also like to use petite silver trays to hold various collections. Your vignettes are lovely. Great style!
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful handles of your silver cutlery! I find some sometimes, buy it with the idea of listing it in the shop... and end up keeping it all!
ReplyDeleteI too love my silver---thankfully I was passionate for it when I was much younger and there wasn't so much sticker shock on the really gOOd pieces as now! My collection is probably larger than any one girl should have though and I am trying to cut loose some of my lesser fav's....but I could NEVER part with anything monogrammed---
