I shared the farmhouse style guestroom not too long ago with most of the blue removed from it. Part of that blue was the ticking stripe duvet from Ikea.
I just love this very inexpensive duvet and new it would work well in here with the rest of the blue. The good thing with the neutral walls is I can change up the colors in the accessories for a new look.
I think I am going to change this bed up a bit soon with paint and some updating.
Another thing that has swapped places is this bag that I bought on ebay. It was in the guest bath holding toilet paper.
But I recently bought this grain sack looking bag from Decor Steals and hung it here instead.
The strap on the Decor Steals bag is wide and did not hang good on these knobs so I swapped them.
I also swapped the old wooden stool that was in here with this chippy blue child's chair since I didn't have a place to use this chair. It's perfect here and the little stool went back to the master bath next to my tub.
So have you tried just swapping things in your home for a whole new look?
I sure hope y'all come back tomorrow for another fabulous favorite room. This blogger shares lots of other homes, but doesn't share her own very often.
Isn't it fun swapping things out to get a new look...you are the "Queen of Swap"....your tiara is in the mail !!
ReplyDeleteLove the chair in the bathroom!...
I will wear it proudly!
DeleteYou are right. The ticking d.cover looks fabulous and I think it looks expensive too.Oh Yes,I learned the trick of changing things around from My Mom...it's creative and fun.Denise
ReplyDeleteThat is what I love about that Ikea duvet. It looks way more expensive than it is.
DeleteDear Kim,
ReplyDeleteyou know I'm always happy to read your posts!!! Fantastic again and again and again!!!
All my best from your Austrian adorer
Elisabeth
Awe, your are too sweet!
DeleteI agree with Shirley above - you are the "Queen of Swap"! It's something I've learned from you - to buy things that can be used in many areas of your home! Love that Decor Steals bag - don't know how I missed that one!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Doreen. I'm sure the bag will come around again.
DeleteI love the coverlet on this bed, Kim. Do you remember where it was purchased? I've been looking for something like this for my master. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJill, the Pottery Barn outlet a couple years ago. Thanks
Deletei just can not stand it anymore i do not like the ad that pops down at the top and that i have to click the read more. i know it does not i know it does not seem like much but it seems like evey blog has it and i do not have much time in the day to look at all my blog that i like to look at. sorry i had to get that off my chest and i love your blog and your home.
ReplyDeleteAngela, I am so sorry, but without making money from ads on my blog this blog would not exist anymore. I had to break my posts and ad the read more because it makes it harder for those who steal/scrape our blogs. There are folks out there who copy whole blog posts and post them on their blog. Just not right!
DeleteYou continue to amaze with your simple changes that give a whole new look to whatever space your are redoing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lulu.
DeleteI am just awestruck at your talent for decorating. I love reading your posts. that blue ticking duvet is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Heidi!
DeleteI agree with Shirley, you ARE the Queen of swap! Take a picture in your new tiara:):):) Love the changes!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to do that!
DeleteThat is a beautiful bed in your guest room, love the carved posts. Was the bureau and bed a set? Repurposing is fun and getting ideas from the blogs I read keeps those creative juices flowing. Thanks for your wonderful blog and the ideas, instructions and stories you share.
ReplyDeleteSuzieQ, they were not a set. The bed was purchased 19 years ago at a furniture store and the bureau was bought a few months ago at an antique mall. thanks!
DeleteGreat little changes! I do switch things up, both at home and our antique booth spaces, and love how it freshens things up.
ReplyDeleteKim, I have a few of those bags from Decor Steals (bought as gifts), and couldn't stand the odor in the fabric - do yours have that issue? I've been leery of buying any of the grain sack fabric for that reason. Even after washing them, it still lingered. I still use mine - it's great bag for flea marketing, but I like how you're storing tp in yours.
Rita
Rita, I noticed the odor right out of the package, but I haven't noticed it since it has been setting out. thanks
DeleteI like the blue and white striped duvet cover. Blue and white ticking is a country classic1 I have that same grainsack style bag that you got from Décor Steals too.
ReplyDeleteThanks and it is a pretty cool sack especially for the price.
DeleteLuving all the switching around Kim! The duvet looks great in it's new spot. I laughingly thought to myself as I opened this post, ' hmmm, wonder when this bed will be painted?' And BAM!!! Hahahaha... you said it.
ReplyDeleteOn a budget, sometimes swapping out is all the change we need.
Happy today!
Hugs, Gee
Gee, I have been thinking about it for quite some time and I think it will happen some time after my vacay next week.
DeleteLove the swap!!!! Can't wait to see what color you chose for the bed?!?!? LOL!!!
Delete~Des
I love the duvet, and that little chair is perfect for the bath. Great swaps.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marty.
DeleteI wish I had half the talent that you have in your pinkie finger! I like my stuff and where it is but every once in a while wish I could change it around. I am not as visual as you. When I move something, it creates a domino affect and I spend all day playing. Thanks for your blog!
ReplyDeleteMost of the time it causes the domino effect for me too. 😄
DeleteIt always fun to switch things around and your changes look great Kim! I love that little chair in your bathroom...it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martina. I'm glad I found a new spot for it.
DeleteYes, I would say you are the "Queen of Swap". Love it. I love being able to shop our home for items and change a room's look without a lot of expense.
ReplyDeleteThanks, LKJ.
DeleteKim, I love the blue and white ticking duvet in that room. If you don't mind me asking are the curtains yellow and white stripe? I bought a duvet cover from Ikea and it is yellow and white. Am trying to decide what curtains to use in that guest room. Always enjoy your blog. Such great ideas. Have a great weekend. Sheila
ReplyDeleteSheila, they are a tan striped. Got them fr countrycurtains.com.
DeleteThanks
Shirley is right you are the queen of swap. Love the changes and the pillows on the bed, the toile pillows are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Thanks Cindy.
DeleteAll the time Kim...my hubby never knows what he will be walking into...
ReplyDeleteMine, too. 😜
DeleteI am forever swapping things around! I love both those bags and the "new look" in the guest room.
ReplyDeleteI know you are, Pat.
DeleteLove your pillow ticking! Your bedside lamps are gorgeous. Can you tell me where to buy them? Thank you! Rita W.
ReplyDeleteRita, those were bought at hobby lobby around three years ago.
DeleteThanks
Your home always looks lovely! You are such a smart swapper!! I love coming to your blog to visit and see what you are up to.
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks, Jeanette.
DeleteLove what a nice effect your swapping out created in your rooms! And, I love the blue ticking duvet cover--I was in an Ikea just yesterday but didn't spend any time at all in the bedding section. Well, that just means I get to go back soon and look for the duvet cover--am hoping they still have it. Thanks for continually inspiring me--I can't get enough of the French look!
ReplyDeleteI think they still carry this one. I want to go back and look at some others they have.
DeleteI think there is a show created just for you' bag swapper'. :)
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm
DeleteI love your decorating style and the cute little chair with the towels on it melts my heart!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gigi!
DeleteThat chair is perfect where you placed it and I love that Ikea duvet.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Penny!
DeleteLove the sweet little chair. I have a thing for chairs!!
ReplyDeleteI do, too Ceekay and I sure don't need anymore, but more will probably find they're way here.
DeleteKim, I thought you were the queen of paint, but now you've been dubbed the queen of swap! Whatever you do always looks fabulous. You just have the magic touch!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane.
DeleteI confess, I'm not a good swapper. But you are slowly changing that, Kim, by inspiring me with all of your great switcheroos! Love everything you did here!
ReplyDeleteHappy swapping, Amy!
DeleteYou are the master of shopping your own house! I just love that whole room - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love how you change things around in your home, making rooms feel fresh and new!
ReplyDeleteUm....I have been swapping things out forever:) BUT.....I do think you are the queen of it!!!
