I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend. We did and I was on the go, go, go. Are you ready to see the new paint color in the breakfast room? Well, actually the kitchen is the new color, too since it is all one big room, but today we are concentrating on just the breakfast room.
I am loving the fresher brighter color. I used the left over paint from the guest room makeover so this project was free! The paint is French Canvas by Benjamin Moore paints. Actually the guest bath was painted with this paint, too.
I created this comparison so you could see how yellow the old paint color was. The old is Frappe by Benjamin Moore, and I did love it, but once I saw the French Canvas I knew it would brighten up this room.
Do you see how the old hay forks are hung? Let's look closer.
Have I told y'all that Mr. Savvy has some brilliant ideas sometimes. Not always, but sometimes and this is one of those brilliant times. I told him we needed to figure out how to hang these hay forks and I also wanted to use the antlers if I could and he said why not use the antlers as a brace. Brilliant, I tell ya and I love this!
The fork end is hung with a nail and floral wire and the other end is the roe deer antlers holding up the handle.
I better watch out or he will be taking over this blog. :)
While I was taking down the curtain rod in order to paint I dropped one of the end finials and it broke in a million pieces. I went to Lowes to see if I could get a mate, but no such luck so I bought two new ends. Well, they didn't really fit, but that man of mine made them work. He wrapped tape around the screws and forced them in the ends and voila! Yep, he did it again. I'm still loving the shorter curtains.
Instead of hanging the copper molds between the arches going into the great room, I just hung a few over the window.
Fresh Georgia peaches fill and ironstone casserole on the table.
Dried lavender fills an old enamelware pitcher from France.
Definitely more French farm house now.
I sure hope y'all have a wonderful week!

I agree about Mr. Savvy's idea ... brilliant! I love how y'all hung the hay forks! The new paint color looks wonderful, and the cafe curtains are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love the new lighter colour. I painted my dining-room in a very similar colour a few weeks ago, though the dining-room is not ready for reveal now... I guess it means the colour is very French indeed, then?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Ready for a cuppa coffee?
ReplyDeleteDitto! That's a brilliant idea! The changes look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow chairs!!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Kim! The hay forks look amazing! Maybe Mr. Savvy should start his own blog and call it "Mr. Savvy Southern Style." : }
ReplyDeleteLet's just say, Mr. Savvy learned from the best!! Love how the cafe curtains allow the leaded glass window to show off.

Hey Kim, want to ask you what is the difference between Chalk Paint and Milk Paint?
ReplyDeleteAlso which ones do you recommend? I bought C'C's Montana Blue at the Green Bean in Freehome.
Have you ever used any of her products?
Just wondering there is so much out there, wanted to see if you had an opinion one way or the other on those paints and do you use any of the finishing products they sell?
Hope you have a wonderful week!!
Leslie
Milk paint is a powder and has to be mixed with water. It usually chips and peels depending on what wood you paint it on or you can mix it with the bonding agent so it doesn't peel. Chalk paint is pre mixed and thicker and you just paint it on without any sanding or priming first. I have tried a sample of CC's, but mostly use Annie Sloan since I already have several cans and samples here.
DeleteThat Mr. Savvy is a genius!....I can see now how there will be lots of things being hung by antlers now!!...I love the new look of the breakfast room...and definitely more French Country/vs. Country Farmhouse...love the "french country colors" too !!! Love it all!!
ReplyDeleteAfter I saw your post on the French Canvas paint the first time, I painted my entire living, dining, breakfast, kitchen and hall areas with it. I was SO GLAD to get rid of the yellow. It just looked ugly and dirty compared to the FC. In my home, the new paint takes on hues of green and grey...LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Lucky you!! I want to paint everything with it, too. Next time the main area gets painted it will most likely be the FC. It is so pretty.
