When I was out mowing the lawn the other day I noticed some pretty pink flowers on the edge of the wood line of our back yard below Mr. Savvy's garage. I even took a pic with my phone and shared them on instagram.
A couple days later I went out and cut some of the pink flowers to bring inside and noticed the yellow ones, too. I cut what few blooms I had on my hydrangea bush that did awful this year.
I got my enamelware pitcher out, filled it with water and placed the flowers inside.

I love how these look in the sitting room sitting on the antique French table front and center, but I like them on the vassilier, too.
Mr. Savvy noticed them and asked where I found the flowers. I told him below his garage along the wood line. I told him I was going share them on the blog and all of a sudden he breaks out in a bad "English" accent and said tell them you found these on the edge of our "estate". Oh yea, dear, I'll be sure and do that. Sometimes I don't know who this man is. I told y'all he is trying to take over this blog. Now he is telling me what to write. If he only knew how to use a camera and take good pictures.
:)
Have a beautiful Saturday.
Love your sweet and simple "estate" bouquet adding a touch of summer to your sitting room. Have a great weekend Kim!
ReplyDeleteLOL ... it's only a matter of time before he starts his own blog, I'm tellin' ya' !!
ReplyDeleteHope he is not allergic to goldenrod!
ReplyDeleteNo, we aren't allergic.
DeleteI was told that golden rod usually doesn't cause allergies, it's ragweed that does, and it usually comes out at the same time as golden rod, and that is why people think they are allergic to it. I remember an old wives tale that says you have one month before the first frost after you see golden rod in bloom. Gosh I hope that's not true, although other years I have noticed they are very accurate predictors.
DeleteI think he needs to do a guest post...you know he is dying to! Gorgeous flowers! Enjoy your weekend!

Kim...I know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteFrom time to time my hubby will say...I think this or that would make a good blog post! I have tried to get him to write a KY short story for me. Still waiting on that! Ha!!!
Can't wait to see his garage and restoration project! I have an old truck in my barn in dire need of restoration and I need some inspiration!! Maybe he could even start his own blog: Savvy Southern Man! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is he never even reads my blog! I do need to show his garage and cars/trucks some time. It is a working garage though and certainly not fancy.
DeleteHa Ha Kim Mr. Savvy is too cute. Gotta love that man! . Maybe next time you are mowing the lawn you need to say to him the estate needs a gardner LOL! See what his reaction is to that!
ReplyDeleteLove the estate flowers they are gorgeous in the iron stone pitcher. Have a great week end.
Kris
Kris, I have told him if we stay here when we are much older we will have to hire gardeners!
DeleteNo Kidding. I am only 56 and when I mow the lawn I feel like I am 100 so not sure what will happen in 9 years when Terry retires. Might have to go condo!!!! Have a great week end.
DeleteKris
Come to a 55 plus community! Our lawn is mowed for us! We only take care os anything we add. We have added lots of beds but they are not hard to take care of. We LOVE living here!!!
DeleteSo funny! You two make a good team!
ReplyDeleteVery cute story! Now let's see him do a post on building a pergola on the deck!
ReplyDeleteYep, that would be nice!
DeleteMen!! Cute story.. Flowers are pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are pretty. Maybe one day he can be your assistant (when he retires).
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty bouquet of cut flowers from your yard. The mix of colors and blooms look perfect in the enamel pitcher.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Why isn't he out there working on those cars in his garage? Well, I guess it might be good to have someone carry your camera.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
LOL...Mr. Comforts suggest blog posts now and again... Your flowers are pretty. I only had two blooms from my hydrangeas this year. It was such a cold winter.
ReplyDeleteHe sounds fun! Nothing like a good husband being supportive!
ReplyDeleteHahaha :) Funny. I do luv your Estate flowers mi dear, *said in a somewhat good English accent * The mix of colours , so darling.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
HUGS, Gee
Hilarious! He does need his own blog. :) I was afraid you were going to say that you had gotten into some poison ivy when gathering your flowers. Glad it wasn't that! I LOVE your enamelware pitcher.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteYour arrangement is so beautiful and natural. I like so many others, didn't fair well with my hydrangeas this year due to the colder than usual winter. (Only three blooms on one and none on the other). At least my peonies loved the cold weather because they were just gorgeous this year.
BTW...my hubby always breaks out in his fake English accent when I watch "Downton Abbey". He still calls it "DOWNTOWN Abbey".
Since I can't visit you ESTATE, at least I can enjoy the flowers from the grounds.
ReplyDeleteNo, you have a stunning American estate! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour property is gorgeous and so is your home. It's always seems so fresh and inviting, Kim. Love the blooms!
Now, when he is looking around re-arranging the furniture in his mind . . . then it is time to show him how to start his own blog . . . "Mr. Savvy's Estate". Love the flowers!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty, blue hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers...I do love the pink tinged one too, so pretty. I have just started to paint again and doing a large oil of a white peony and a burgandy peony, I will be sharing on the blog my progress at the end of the week if I can truly get stuck in this week. It will take some time to finish though.
ReplyDeleteI do love the furniture in your home, you have some wonderful antique pieces...very envious :)

Yes, J has been actively involved in BPM, especially since retirement. He enjoys those predawn jaunts along back roads with his crazy wife hanging out the window, telling him to back up 50 feet.:-) He is very good at toting cameras and dishes, as well.:-)
ReplyDeleteI love the mixed bouquet in enamel pitcher! Perfection.
Our hydrangeas have not done well, this year either. Crazy Winter!!
look at cute Bailey on the couch!
ReplyDeleteDon't we all live on estates??
ReplyDeleteYes that's ragweed...allergy season....hope you are not allergic??
Pretty flowers.
Love his attitude! Yes, please show pics of his garage...I'm sure my hubby would like to see that he is not the only man out there with a working garage! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy is it I hear so many people say their hydrangeas did so poorly this year? Mine too! And I didn't even prune them last year. As a matter of fact, I had more blooms than I knew what to do with last year but almost none this year. So disappointed!
ReplyDeletenothing is prettier then a random bunch of flowers in a white pitcher.....and my Hydrangeas didn't even bloom one flower this season.....huge greens everywhere but not one sign of a bloom....I guess it was or cold winter...
ReplyDeleteThe flowers look lovely, Kim. It's good that he is interested in your pursuits, funny accent and all lol.
ReplyDeleteMy family never reads my blog either LOL! I even signed their emails up to get a copy. When they ask me what I'm doing around the house I just say "read the blog"! Thanks for sharing -love your dishes.
ReplyDeleteI WISH my Joe were more involved in my blog. I guess he feels like it is my thing. Would love to have Mr. Savvy do a guest post! That would be fun! Love the flowers in the pitcher.
