As you can see the stripes on the chair are red and gray.
The other chair has lots of gray in the pattern.
This got my wheels spinning and I knew the easiest way to bring in more gray would be with accessories like these gray pillows.
On the sofa I used these gray and red shams that I bought months ago on super clearance and hung onto them to use this fall. I had planned on using them in a guest room, but for now I am using them here with some red pillows that I already had. I love when something on hand works perfectly.
Another way to bring in more of the gray is with this black and white wool rug from Birch Lane that looks more gray or charcoal than real black.
I layered it over the scratchy sisal rug. My granddaughter who I babysit twice a week hates the sisal rug and hates walking on it. Now she hops over to the soft wool rug from Birch Lane.
The top of the coffee table had been painted a very dark blue so I just painted it the same as the bottom to blend better with the room. I also replaced the blue transferware plates on the wall over the sofa with white ironstone ones I had on hand.

I got this little black metal table from Antique Farmhouse to place between the two wicker chairs.
This Ava Rug is so soft and comes in more colors. I love being barefoot on this rug.
Last week I shared close ups of my new big bird with y'all and now you can see how it works in the room.

So this is the new look in the sun room with a change of colors.
You can see how the sun room looked before decked out in red, white, and blue here.
I hope y'all have a great week!
Love all the pops of red! The room is so cheery and inviting!
ReplyDeleteSmall changes with a huge impact. Suddenly the room is 21st century. Great job! (Don't get me wrong, I loved the blue touches but the grey is just a bit more sophisticated.) Jo @ Let's Face the Music

ReplyDeleteKim - I love the red and gray color scheme!! Its so elegant and unexpected! I think the red and blue is perfect for the Spring and Summer months but the gray just adds a soft, cozy feel that beckons you to sit and have a cup of tea or read a book while watching the leaves change in your yard - I love it!

I agree with the grey - it's more of a Fall color than blue is. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I love visiting even if for a quick look I to your world of what inspires your home. Love the grey accent here it demands attention without competing with the other pieces.

I'm so glad you left the reds! And the gorgeous red lamps I so covet. I think the gray is pretty, but I'm a blue girl. I'm sure I'll see many transformations!

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous Kim! Love how you layered those lovely rugs too! What a perfect match!
ReplyDeleteLove the addition of they gray...and that birch rug! Wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteThis room is so pretty Kim. My living room is painted a medium gray and I love it. I have tan furniture. I have been trying to add red accents but nothing looks right... I love the red stripe on the stool and the table.. maybe I need to do the less is more route till my eyes adjust?? Red is so pretty in your sunroom, I wonder why I struggle. Anyways... LOVE the changes!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile I still love blue, it's fun to see how you were able to switch the colors out so easily (well what looks easy on the internet and probably took a bit more work in reality!) Either way it looks effortless, and beautiful, well done!
ReplyDeleteMay I ask where you got those curtains? I just love them.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful...I love it!! Looking for ideas for my very outdated sunroom and you have given me some good ones! Do you happen to know the wall color?
ReplyDeleteLove this!! Gave me some much needed ideas! Do you happen to know the wall color?
ReplyDeleteI love every bit of it! If I could copy this and incorporate in my rooms I would do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I have a very rustic ranch house!
