Favorite Room.....D. D.'s Cottage

HI Everyone!  This is Darrielle hopping over from D.D.’s Cottage and Design.  I was so honored and tickled pink that Kim asked me to be part of her Favoroite Room series.  I am fairly new to blogging and am having a blast with this new adventure .

My favorite room in my house is our living/dinning room.  I live on the coast in CA on the Monterey Bay and my house is an 100+ year old ranch house that was on a dairy farm many years ago.  The house is now surrounded by newer homes, but I love having the oldest home in the neighborhood.

Our house is old, small, but full of light and character and that is why I love it.  My living room/dinning room is my favorite place to be in our house  because it has many windows and gets lots of light.  If you know anything about older homes then you know that the bedrooms are pretty small and so we hangout as a family in out living room.

When we first moved in it was a pretty dark house and we added  French doors and the  deck as well as  a few new windows.

View from the French Doors

The floors are old hardwood and pretty beat up (kids and dogs), but I suppose that is character and it just means I don’t care when the dog and the kids are running amuck.  I love that the rooms all have high ceilings and lots of windows.

Chippy buffet in the dinning area

I always have flowers ( I think I would shrivel up without them! )

Looking into the living room

You can see the door to my daughter's room
Since our house is old and from 100 years ago it has some not so modern aspects.  The master bedroom opens off of the living room and my daughter's room also open off of the dinning area.  We have gotten use to this, but it means that the bedrooms always have to be neat and clean since you can see them all the time.  I suppose keeping your room clean is a good lesson for my daughter to learn!

I re-purposed a buffet for our TV

Through the windows behind the chairs is the sunroom

Always sunny and warm!

I hope you enjoyed my favorite room!  Pop over and visit me some time!

Thanks, Darrielle for opening up your home and sharing your favorite room with us. This space looks so comfy and I love your swing out windows.

I hope y'all will pop over and visit D.D.'s Cottage like Darrielle said.
