These are French juggling batons. I think there was another name for them on the tag, but cannot remember what it was.
Of course I don't juggle, but I love the patina of these and you can see how some finish is worn off of them from the juggler's hands.
I just simply placed them on a stack of books, but I'm sure they will move around to different spots.
The other unique find is this old siphon bottle. Yes, I know siphon bottles are not that unique, but the spout on this one is different and unique and is why I bought it.
The end is a bird's head and beak. Cool, huh?
I only have one other siphon bottle and it is green with no writing on it. I love the graphics on this one.
When I got it home I didn't know where I was going to place it so I just stuck it on the chest in the foyer for now. When I make some fall changes I'm not sure where it will land.
I hope if you have anything unique to share you will come back tonight and join Wow.
Have a super day and see you tonight!
Very cool spout on that bottle!
ReplyDeleteThat bottle is awesome, yes they are all around but even the bottle shape is different! I love it and I would have grabbed it as well. It all looks great Kim and thanks for sharing. :-)
ReplyDeleteI always thought those were seltzer bottles. I have a beautiful blue one that I got from Decor Steals - but I didn't want blue! LOL Thinking about taking it to my work office - I do have blue in there and it might look nice displayed there.
ReplyDeleteYep, called that, too. Same thing.
DeleteI was looking at mine last night and it appears to have a duck head/beak on the spout - but very small. I need to google it. Too bad I can't use the blue!
DeleteThe spout on the bottle is so unique. What a great find!
ReplyDeleteEverything about your siphon bottle is unique...the shape, spout, graphics. Love it!!!

Great finds Kim...love the juggling batons and how you have them displayed!
ReplyDeleteI have a set of wooden dumb bells as well, but wasn't sure how to display them. Thanks for the idea! I think the store may have tagged them incorrectly since juggling batons have a long, slender neck and are heavier on the bottom. Regardless, they look great in your home!
ReplyDeleteThese were just unloaded from a container from France and were labeled French juggling batons.
DeleteGreat finds Kim!
ReplyDeleteGreat pieces. I love the patina of those juggling batons.
ReplyDeleteI swear you and Shirley always find the best stuff. Love that bottle.
ReplyDeleteCindy

Kim,
ReplyDeleteI have some wooden thingamabobs with a little leather strap that look like bowling pins, and I think mine were used for exercise. I also have one wooden baton. I think the long ones that I have a pair of are called Indian Clubs for some reason. Neat that you found a pair of the batons. I love that antique store in Destin. I used to go there a lot when Mr. Magpie had business in that area. I adore it.
I am going to join you tonight for Wow Us Wednesday. I just got on your mailing list. This sounds like a fun meme.
xo
Sheila :-)
Love your finds...you have a wonderful eye, Kim!
ReplyDeleteLove these, you find the most unique things! Just wanted to let you know that when I click on "you might also like" it just brings me back to your latest post. Not sure what is happening?
ReplyDeleteThe juggling batons are pretty cool - I agree, lovely patina. I laughed because your book stack looks exactly like mine - same books... lol! I'm definitely due for an antiquing jaunt. You inspired me... :-)

Love your new acquisitions! Especially, the batons. I've seen those before but I always thought they were French weights! haha
ReplyDeleteThe seltzer bottle is terrific Kim. The bird detail is extra special.
ReplyDeleteLove it all, and I giggle to myself ''cause I have those same treasures in my collection!
ReplyDeleteI've had two sets of the "French juggling batons" through the years, but sold one set to an old friend when I found the cOOler second set. I too was told they were dumb bells--?? They sound cooler as "French juggling batons!" I think I'll be going with that! ; D
