No, this is not the start of my Christmas decor. I don't normally start that until after Thanksgiving.
This is just a vignette I have on the sideboard in the great room using two of my new vintage breadboards and the preserved boxwood wreath that stays out all year.

I lucked up on these two beauties at the Country Living Fair a couple weeks ago. The preserved boxwood wreath just adds another layer of texture and color.
Every time I find a real vintage breadboard (there are reproductions) I just have to check it out.
The older and more worn the wood the better. I love the thickness of this smaller one and look at all those tiny worm holes.
And while we are talking unique shape look at this one I bought at the Liberty Antiques Festival.
The patina is amazing.
This one has the best shape of any that I own.
For now it hangs on this narrow wall in the sunroom.
You can check out how I have used more breadboards in the links below.
I've been working hard this weekend on a new project that has finally gotten started after being put off for way too long.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Kim, they are perfect in those spaces. Love the texture they bring. I think that might be the next thing I might have to start collecting. (Plus they work with any color scheme you might have anytime you want to change a color with paint! LOL)
ReplyDeleteLove all your breadboards Kim. I love the texture and warmth they bring to each place you have them.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful collection.

I love breadboards. I love how you put them together. I just saw a huge one at a local bakery..like 4 ft long. I am going to try to convince him to sell it to me. : )
ReplyDeleteLove the curvy one, too, Kim; it's my favourite, as is your breakfast room!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!

Love the character on the boards and the display you set up.
ReplyDeleteI love your old bread boards. All I find around here are reproductions...even at Tobacco Barn.
ReplyDeleteI collect vintage cutting boards... not sure what the difference is except they are probably smaller versions of a breadboard? I love yours and how you've displayed them. I hope that those worm holes are old though, my mom bought a vintage chair and it still had the worms making new holes in it! Maybe you could put it in the oven for awhile or something just to be sure ;o)

LOVE...your breadboards are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! They add so much warmth, and I love them as a backdrop to the scale. The two red apples adds the perfect pop of color!
ReplyDeleteYou have some wonderful breadboards......LOVE the one hanging on the wall in your sunroom!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!!!

Every time I see one of your breadboards, I wonder why I don't have one. I guess I actually need to go antiquing to find one.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a nice collection of old breadboards. I like the way you've used them.
ReplyDeleteThey add such character and texture to your home Kim. Luv them.
ReplyDeleteKim, your bread boards are awesome! What a beautiful way to create vignettes.
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty and festive enough to carry you into the Christmas holidays.

I would love to have some. Yours are all beautiful and each one is unique. Love the scale too.
ReplyDeleteI love your bread bowls. I think old wood is such a great touch in a house...to lend texture, and a sense of history. I agree with another reader that your bread boards and boxwood wreath can go through Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI always like to see what you are working on. I think I have picked up the habit of switching out table vignettes often...as after a week or so I am ready to create another mix of items.
I am One of your faithful WOW party linkers too.

Bread boards are such a great styling tool. The character on the wood brings any vignette to life. Love your collection.

Just love your breadboards....you have beautifully placed them throughout your home!...
ReplyDeleteBreadboards, who would have thought?! I love them! I don't ever recall seeing any in my Antiquing adventures but you know what? I probably looked them over. Love your displays!
ReplyDeleteLove the wreath against the boards Kim, it's a great color contrast.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bread boards, Kim. I especially like the round one!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks lovely. Very inspiring!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteYour bread boards are beautiful. What a lovely accent!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI looked at breadboards at Round Top this fall, but couldn't find one that said, "Take me home," like your curvy one. Boxwood is perfect all year. I just got a new boxwood today. It is live in a pot, about 2 feet tall, and shaped like a conical tree. Already I see it in my Christmas decor for this year.

I love them all Kim! The vignette in your great room is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love how the way the wood aged makes each of them unique.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas
