Coffee table decorating is fairly easy for me unlike bookcases. I have created many coffee table vignettes over the years. It's such an easy way to refresh a room with simple changes.
In 2012 I shared how I used A Mix of things I collect and placed them in a willow basket.
When I shared the new paint color in the great room in August 2013 I changed up what was in the basket.
Last April the coffee table moved out and this new tufted ottoman moved in so of course I had to come up with a way to style it. I used a tray on the uneven surface to hold some items.
I usually change things up a bit seasonally like adding this little squirrel in the fall.
And greenery and pine cones for Christmas.
It can be as simple as an old dough bowl full of apples.

So do you struggle with styling your coffee table?
Then you will want to come back this Friday for tons of inspiration as I join eleven design bloggers who will be sharing their coffee table ideas. I'm going to be like a little fish out of water among this group of designers. I can't wait to see what they share.
YES, I struggle ... great ideas! And, you ... fish out of water? Puh-leez.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a hard time with coffee table styling, because the only room we have a coffee table in now is the sunroom (used more like a den). One thing I think people do is forget to keep it real. A coffee table is usually a functional thing. We need to make it (let it!) work in our homes. Not just something to hold pretty objects.
ReplyDeleteThese are all great ideas. Your tables always look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love all your ideas Kim and you have so many fun accessories to work with! And like Becca said above - Fish out of water?.... I always love what you create! Looking forward to seeing more on Friday. I would love some more ideas.

Love your coffee table designs....I love stying mine too...just finished two of them this weekend...you always have such great ideas and beautiful things to work with!...and must say that you are not a fish out of water...you are right with them swimming upstream!!
ReplyDeleteYou always have great vignettes Kim.
ReplyDeleteAll great looks, Kim. It's become fairly easy for me since I do it so frequently in our spaces at the antique mall, but it still takes time to get a look I'm going for just right. Looking forward to your collaboration with the other bloggers.

You are amazing, Kim. I'm going to try and take a lesson from you and mix it up seasonally!!! See you Friday!
ReplyDeleteI love these ideas! Thanks Kim. I usually just keep playing with stuff and trying new things until I come up with what I like! Decorating is so much fun isn't it?

You have a creative touch...I need to mix it up also...
ReplyDeleteI love styling the coffee table, which is a very old trunk/box. Right now I have a willow tray that has stacked books, antlers and a small antique trophy. Your vignette looks a lot like mine!
ReplyDeleteThanks for always sharing!
Beautiful ideas Kim. Looking forward to seeing what everyone shares. Our main coffee table is a curio table. So fun to change out with the seasons. However, I do struggle with what to place on top as to not block what is inside.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at different ways to style a coffee table. I'll be sure to check that out. Your vignettes are pretty.
ReplyDeleteLots of great ideas!

THANK YOU for your post and upcoming ideas from fellow designers !!!!!! I more than struggle with my coffee table.......it is actually a trunk, so it is narrower than a coffee table...I am stumped!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ideas Kim! Thanks for inspiring me.
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to remove the one magazine from mine and do a little styling! I always love seeing your magnifying glass collection!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what everyone has in store! These are some great examples, Kim.
ReplyDeleteI frequently change up the coffee table vignettes. My husband would rather have a blank tabletop, but not me. It's like a canvas that needs to be painted. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the posts on Friday.
I'm really not good at creating vignettes so I like when you give us ideas.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you share for oval coffee tables!
ReplyDeleteLots of great ideas...very pretty!
ReplyDeleteFrom the looks of all your wonderful coffee table incarnations, I need to have you come do mine!!!
