I mentioned the other day that Mr. Savvy started a new project while I was out of town last weekend. I was hoping to not have this started until a couple weeks later since our son and his family are arriving for a visit next weekend. Since the mister was ready to start early, and it won't be finished before they come, I'm afraid we have a bit of a mess.
The old faux marble sink and counter has been removed to be replaced with a new granite counter I ordered last week. The old one never did fit correctly. I am beyond thrilled to say goodbye to the brown toilet.
For now there is no counter or sink to use and you saw the toilet in the bedroom.
The walls are the first thing he started on and I will be priming and painting soon.
There is much to be purchased and installed in here:
white toilet
faucet for sink
faucet and shower head for tub
faucet and shower head for tub
mirror
light
floor
Shower curtain, rod and liner.
Possibly have the tub refinished depending on cost.
Possibly have the tub refinished depending on cost.
I guess I better start shopping since the only thing we have so far is a MESS!
Sorry, son, but it looks like there will only be one bathroom for y'all to share.
Kim,
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see the transformation. I know it will look so great. Have a great week end.
Kris
Thanks, Kris!
DeleteOh how exciting. I can't wait to see it all redone.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, Marty!
DeleteExciting! The bead board is going to look great!
ReplyDeleteKim, I can't wait to see the bathroom finished. I know it will be beautiful. I'm sure your son will understand. Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteCindy
sounds like fun! can't wait to see it with the Kim touch!
ReplyDeleteI know you are chomping at the bit to get this done. And I also know you will make it beautiful! have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, it is a mess....but will be worth it when it was done. We had a brown (I think they called it taupe) toilet back then that I was glad to see go, too. It always just looked "dirty" to me somehow. I think the kids will get by with sharing a bathroom! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh I can definitely hear the torture in your voice about shopping:D It will look marvelous when your done! Can't wait to see it!!
ReplyDeleteI just started on my powder room and the bottom layer of wallpaper Is directly on the wallboard. It is impossible to remove without severely damaging the walls. Are you removing the wallpaper In your guest bath before putting up the beadboard? I was thinking beadboard might be a solution for my powder room. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!
ReplyDeleteSharon, we are not removing the wallpaper. We have done that before and it was a huge mess and way too much work. That is one of the reasons we chose beadboard plus it goes with my farmhouse style in that room.
DeleteThanks, I think I'll go with beadboard too.
DeleteMen! You can't turn your back for a second! When I was in the hospital getting a knee replacement, my husband decided to do some painting... He is not yet quite trained in that department. Oh well, I guess I will keep him anyway. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with men?! He thought he would surprise me, but now I have a mess and guests coming. Oh, well!
DeleteSometimes things have to get bad to get better. Knowing you, this will be outstanding when it is finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janette. Anything will look better than it has. Lots to do in such a tiny space.
ReplyDeleteAny thing with beadboard is going to look fabulous! Can't wait to see the final results! Back in the 70s, we had a baby blue toilet! In the 80s, a peach colored one. Never had a taupe colored one, though!
ReplyDeleteThe timing's not fun, but I know the room will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I see the start of a beautiful mess. The outcome will be well worth the early start up time.
ReplyDeleteWill be looking forward to a project that will only turn out to be beautiful like everything else in your home.
Looking forward to visiting you in the bathroom soon :) ..,well you know what I mean with the sharing of all your hardwork.
See you soon.
Xx
Dore
It will be a great visit. It will be a great remodel. Take a deep breath and know it will all work out.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Michelle from simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com
Those pictures give me a taste of what my house will look like this summer! I'll be as happy to get rid of my green sink as your are about your toilet ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat job so far
ReplyDeleteIt will be great once it's done, I hope you can manage with company coming. Sometime men don't always think of those things but I say if he's ready to demo then get it rolling.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you come up with!! We'll be starting our master bath reno hopefully in the fall when my oldest heads off to college--I can totally understand how you have to plan these bathroom renovations!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Tha chaotic DURING is always an eyesore but the promise of something new soon, wipes away everything! Can't wait to see it all done!
ReplyDeleteWe will have no problem sharing the upstairs bathroom. Ryan and I will stay in that bedroom, just to keep the kids from going in there. It's really not a problem at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd so the fun begins...do I have a choice in the fixtures and such...a "hot" "cold' faucet please, I saw a mirror that I liked and a shower curtain too....Oh, and tell Doug not to forget to fix that ghost in there !!!
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be fabulous!
Wow a new bathroom how exciting! I think the next time I get a new bathroom is when we move...and I am hoping that's only a few years away. Can't wait to see it finished!
